We took a trip down to the town and district transport trust to view there quite frankly overwhelming collection of busses! Will Lawrie ever escape this labyrinth?

LMM has made it
No thank you
You know you've made it in life when you get sponsored by Raid.
RAID: Stinky Legends ends at 3:40, if, like me, you hate sponsorships at the middle/start of a video
You are aware adverts pay for the content you watch?
@@lmm was just about to comment about that, I'm glad you are getting sponsorships, it's justifies the great content.
Hello @@lmm
7:36 the B10M coach. The yellow mirror gave it away! I checked on the trust website and yes it’s the same one I used to drive every day, over a decade ago. What a beast. Made my day seeing that!
Oh that's amazing!
@@lmm New to Stagecoach in Chesterfield 1998 along with a couple of other identical coaches. I understand they all went to Wales or something after their time in Chesterfield, but that was after I finished working there.
Hi buddy Phil Kerry here I can remember driving that as well :) We eventually had 671 672 and this one 673 :)
that dennis dart is a naughty bus XD
I used to drive that one 😊

Seems like there's more Olympians in that building than in Tokyo right now! (as i write this the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics are underway)
Someone's got good taste in cars as well as the busses! We love our Saabs here in the Northeastern US.
I really want a 95!
@@lmm The old wagon? I love those. I just saw two in person today for the first time in my life and its so funny I just happened to come back to this video today 😂 .... Speaking of old buses, theres an original late 50s/early 60s Büssing double decker bus from Berlin with its original "Schultheiss Bier" livery thats been rotting away in in the woods near my house for the past few decades. Quite strange, especially considering the fact that I live on the East Coast of the US where double decker buses are just a myth in the eyes of most people! I have no idea how or why it ended up here but its absolutely wild looking. You have no idea how long it took me to figure out what it was... Thank god theres a little bit of the "Schultheiss" lettering left on it.
Bus basics - it's not a Fleetliner but a Fleetline. Drop the 'R'
Loving the bus coverage.
I think in my head it's just too similar to Freightliner 😂
Love how Lawrie is advertising the most famous MMO RPG PvP game
It was nice to be asked!
The exhaust from the Guy reminds me of that generated every day of the year by the countless AEC RTs in Uxbridge bus station in the days before the RMs took over some of the routes...
Oh really? That bad?
@@lmm Yes, that bad.
I was scarred for life when the RMs took over the former 607 trolley bus route towards Acton and it got called the 207... But the RT were far more productive of smoke on Hillingdon Hill or sitting chugging away in the bus garage.
Thanks Lawrie!
You're most welcome!
Looking forward to your next visit Lawrie/Matt. Was all good fun filming.
Thanks for having us, was a good few days!
Indeed.. and you never know. You may be able to do some more videos for these lovely audience.
@@ianamarnani6065 that we do!
OMG what a fantastic range of Vintage Buses. I can't believe how many are kept in the depot. Great Lawrie, keep up with the great work.👍👍
It's an outstanding collection!
Brilliant video mate
Missed that one when I was across the pond in the last month or so. Spent three weeks enjoying your neck of the woods and enjoying as many railways and transportation museums as I could find.
Absolutely loved the SBC. ! I could gladly spend the rest of my days there in sheer contentment.. Next time I’m across, I will have to stop in at the Town and District Transport Trust.
It's a really good collection!
Great video lots of old buses lot of history cheers 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
That is an awesome collection :) You know you want one Lawrie! ;)
I don't have anywhere to store one!
@@lmm No excuse ;) lol
Love your work Lawrie
Thank you very much!
The year is 2036, Lawrie's media empire and mass vehicle collection has grown in such a rate, that in quiet field in Suffolk has been purchased and a lock up to rival this trust's one has been built. Many of the vehicle's housed inside of past Lemon's trips, late night eBay purchases and barn find/scrap yard rescue's sit side by side amongst the greats such as Jupiter, Redruth, Humpty and Viking. What's broken now episodes last hours to cover the on going struggles of keeping the fleet running. Sorry got carried away there, Great vid as always Lawrie.
And the Lotus still isn't done
Great video Lawrie. Would also recommend you visit the Northwest Museum of Road Transport in St. Helens, open every weekend.
Wow! I love those buses! All of them! Including 'The Kettle' (the Optare!)! :-)
And the taste of half-burnt Diesel! :-O
It's a mega collection!
Driven more than my fair share of a lot of those over the years!
I agree Dennis Dominator is one of the greatest bus model names ever - there was a 3-axle variant called the Dennis Dragon too.
Oh that's even cooler!
they are a real youtube channel now - well done on your sponsorship
Thank you!
You need to come down to the West Midlands and visit the Wythall Transport Museum as they have a large bus collection, a miniature steam railway and a collection of old milk floats. There are even some old breakdown trucks hiding around the site.
Oh that sounds great!
Big fan of the MCW Metrobus... the transport of my childhood, with a very distinctive sound
It's quite cool isn't it!
The 266 Route in London is a fairly local one to me. Nice to know that MCWs used to operate the 266 but that's way before I was born! Out of this collection my favourites are the DAF DB250 ALX400, the Volvo B7TL ALX400 and the 2 Dennis Darts. On the first Optare Solo you can actually still see part of the Stagecoach Logo on it right at the back
It's a good collection of vehicles
It's a good collection of vehicles
West London transport I own 702 the stagecoach Dennis dart the one you can see with the naughty bus blind is mancbuses
Great video, I used to work for the go-ahead Northern depot at philadelphia near houghton le spring.
I probably drove the green and grey Leyland lynx and the green and grey double decker which the northern decided to paint them in that hiddious green and grey and call them Wear Buses, they didn't last long before going bus Red again. The best bus I drove was the Mk2 Leyland national with a Volvo conversion.
Thanks
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and saw one of your old steeds!
A Raid: Shadow Legends sponsorship is the best sign someone’s made it. XD
It's very exciting for us!
15:00 proper diesel. Good video. Enjoyed a lot
Thank you - glad you enjoyed it!
Someone likes their Atlanteans by the looks of things! Enjoyed that, hearing the Guy Arab firing up was enjoyable. Some of those buses will be nostalgic in a few years time, particularly the Leyland Olympians and the Dennis Darts in my case. I'd love it if you could drive a Dart with a whining AT545 gearbox, the sounds of those are fun to listen to. Good to see some bus content, enjoyed that! :)
A Dart is on the list of things to bring to the channel, honestly not sure which gearbox it has though.
@@lmm which one you own
I want to visit that place to they are sure many coloured ones I love the yellow it sure shows out
It's an amazing place
Pretty cool museum, not that far away and probably went to school on that Blackpool Transport PD3.. (Oh my 4 bed detached house on the Fylde Coast must be a 'cave' as the only Raid in it is some Fly & Wasp killer and my NAS drive configuration). 🤔🤭😄
Hahahah, well played!
ooh big time sponsors .. congrat's guys
Thank you, very exciting for us!
Lol “ the naughty bus”
I liked that
That Dennis Dominator reminds me of the Jubilee Class Blackpool tram, which was also done by East Lancashire Coachbuilders.
Oh really? That would explain the similar styling then
Why do I get the impression you have purchased something in there that the rest of the team dont know about until you roll up outside the shed in it lol all joking aside nice little video 😁😁
I don't have space for a bus sadly
Maybe one of the SAAB's that kept cropping up haha but yes sadly no space for bus, Maybe MSLR would take pity and store it haha
@@MikeTagg-kg1so do really want a 95. Really like them
Are you able to do another video visiting this place again to see if there's any changes from the last one? Plus to see updated restoration work progress of some of the vehicles of interest like the exGM buses vehicles which they have okenty of.
Hiya the blue Leyland tiger started its life here on the Isle of Wight 4817f I had this coach new at moss motor tours in Sandown 1987 she was brand new with 61 seats in for a time but we redused her to a 57 as leg room was way to tight I'd really like to keep up with her if possible thanks Paul
7:33
So is this Leopard the same that featured on LMM Drives not too long ago?
Yes, yes it is!
Confession time : I have been living under a rock.
But for no more!
I was part owner of a Bristol LH once upon a time :)
Oh super thing to be part of!
Think you are right with the |East Lancs Dominators, had some in Rotherham and Doncaster but i don't believe any survive, they were B351CDT etc
It's a great name for a bus isn't it!
That Leyland at 12:50 reminds me of the one in the Beatles' "Penny Lane" music video!
Oh yes
there are some nice old buses in there and would like to more about the rover sd1 in there
Feel free to contact us on our Facebook page
I'd love to review one
i use to own the sister bus F269YTJ to the yellow one reg F262YTJ nack in 2009-2010
You should go to the transport museum in st helens Merseyside, lots of old vehicles great thing to explore.
I'll put it on the list to visit!
I always see those optare solo buses with the old brake lights there are less on the road because the new ones are taking over because they accelerate faster
Oh really?
My optare solo V269 HEC the Halton transport one that has got a full rebuild and got welded now has passed it’s mot my solo flys
5:32 Looks like an ex Yelloway Leyland Leppard coach.
Oh does it?
@@lmm Spent many an hour as a child travelling on these (X42/X49) between Blackpool and Bury when visiting grandparents.
Plus it has the Yelloway name on the illuminated panel at the front.. One is also preserved as travelling museum.
Put your hand up if you are coming to the East Bank Depot 60th Anniversary Open Day, Running Day and Bus Rally at First South Yorkshire Olive Grove Depot
in Sheffield on Sunday 22nd August? 10am until 4pm.
If I was free!
Busses are cool. But old Saab are too. Would have loved to see more of the stored Saab.
There's quite a few! We thought they didn't fit in a bus video though
My favourite character is Out-of-Place Saab.
There's a few of them!
@@lmm Are they just very gradually taking over from the buses? Sneakily replacing one or two to bewilder lost travellers.
@@Kieran_the_Smol I think that's how it's happening!
So, did you count the buses for them while you were in there?
He tried.. and aswell as getting lost.. he lost count.😝
There are many. 😂
When are you going to town and district transport trust again as currently have 2 sheds now with loads of buses including mine
We're not sure at the moment, depends if they want us!
@@lmm I think they would making people aware of charities like this plus it's bring more people there as well
Hopefully anyway!
@@lmm hope so to love the video u did as well
very cool, speaking of trolleys come to the Illinois Railway museum they have a legit shitton of trolleys most of them operable and also nearby is the Fox River Trolley Museum which is awesome goes up and down the Fox River.....and if you've ever seen Wayne's World lmao you can still cross the Fox River and go to the White Castle that is briefly pictured in the movie.. I work near where they filmed the "driving into Aurora Scene, past the Welcome to Aurora sign" they changed the Aurora sign to a more modern one a few years ago which is bogus aaand ironically there is a convert venue on the Fox River in Aurora which I can get to via the Metra right next tot he two brothers roundhouse pretty sure Sammy Hagar is gonna be there ina month or something
I shall put it on my list!
According to the Northern Counties bodied Leyland Olympian, Ian Amarnarni is a c*ck, and that single decker next to it is apparently a 'naughty bus'. Least we know the people who look after these buses have a sense of humour! :D
Haha.. we do indeed have a sense of humour. If we didn't the hobby could get very tedious with all the other official serious stuff we have to adhere to. It's all old school banter
I'm also the cxxk that can be seen hiding around the back of the metrobus/Olympian.😝
If you haven't already done so, then you should try a get a tour of the Glasgow bus collection.
I'll add it to my list of things to do!
The vehicle seen at 8 mins in I am 95% sure there is one on the isle of Wight as well
Oh really?
@@lmm yeah it's not in the best state if I remember right it was exported to India and was saved from the scrap yard and brought back over
You need to state which coach builder as well as the make and model
Sorry, it was just a quick look around though.
Lawrie in bus 🚌 haven 😏👍😁
It's a pretty amazing collection
At 5:04 there’s my said broken dart number 702 ex stagecoach Manchester or ribble the bus doesn’t start but it runs with easy start well it starts but have to use easy start the bus has got a full engine replacement and repair to the starter motor
Sounds like a lot of work
With the older buses, I'm getting On The Buses vibes... if you don't know what it is, it's a comedy. Search it on yt.
Oh very much!
Nice video,iv'e been there two years ago,im a patreon of mancbuses who had a coach there at one time👍😀
It's an amazing collection isn't it!
@@lmm yes it is👍😁🚍
The one next to the play bus is in Scarborough Livery, I know because I've been on it for most of my childhood until they removed them & used modern buses 🤬
Oh right!
Cool
I agree
You replied yay my tractors working well
An Aladdin's cave of beautiful beasts
Isn't it just!
Has everyone noticed on the double decker next to the dart in the intro the destination on it.
Yes it's my bus, I did it as a light hearted joke towards our director but left it on. I should have taken it off before the video 😂
We chuckled

History if the MK2A Metrobus F63XOF started life at Travel West Midlands based in Coventry in 1989, transferred to Acocks green garage in 1999, went back to Coventry in 2000, got withdrawn out of service in 2008, The Green Bus of Birmingham brought her for school and contract work the same year 2008, sold to me and 2 friends in 2011 for preservation then we sold her in Dec 2020 to The current owner’s
Thanks for the info
So I guess they have a building fund to allow them to acquire a building to display the restored units and a restoration fund to supply monies to buy bits and pieces and pay for work that the volunteers can't do ?
Unfortunately we only rent the building..(we would love to buy at some point). And the restoration funds are our own pockets unfortunately. Most of the vehicles are privately owned However the trust does own a few themselves.
@@ianamarnani6065 perhaps then it's time to start those accounts and encourage people to make donations , a few pounds here and there can be seed money .
