Music festivals have been bogus for about 10 years at this point.

Music fests have just gotten watered down over the past decade or so. There are just way too many of them worldwide in (mostly) the Summer and bands can only be in so many places. When the US only had a handful of them they were more prestigious to play and had way better lineups. It's basically like an all-you can-eat buffet of music. Bands perform shortened sets from what they would normally play at their own headline gigs. It's like a sampler platter of music out in the 90 degree heat with way overpriced food, alcohol, and water.
You have to put up with a lot of tools and douchebags and poseurs that are basically just there to party and see and be seen. It is mostly for the young college age kids and twenty-somethings. You definitely need stamina to be there for the full two or three days all day and night. It just becomes draining at some point and you just want to go home and sit in the AC.
I am saying this as a veteran concert goer and music fan.

Hulaween is a small(ish) festival in Florida. It is operated by the String Cheese Incident a band that plays multiple sets throughout the weekend and helps curate the lineup. The festival is completely stripped of a corporate festival feel and it is an aura felt throughout the entire grounds.

Locql fests, local acts, zero or minimal security.....bartering...that's a festival to me.
Not cities, no hotels....no no....3 days of camping and mucic that's affordable with a good community....

I think there´s a big difference with the festivals in the US and Europe. But I´ve only seen American festivals online of course. But the festivals in Europe seem more fun in my eyes

Speaking as an independent touring musician and a former roadie, I think the solution here is smaller festivals and better independent promoters. That second part is far easier said than done though, to put it mildly.

Although I agree with most of the critiques of problems with bad festivals, I disagree with your idea of what a festival is. I have always seen them as just a cheaper way to see a bunch of artists. I don't feel an ounce of that sense of community you speak of. And I have min. 3 festivals lined up this year.

Music festivals aren’t a scam, they have to pay workers, organizers, design multiple stages with extremely expensive LED screens, subwoofers, and Loudspeakers. Like EDC, $400 GA for 13+ stages all have artists play at the same time and none of those stage designs are cheap at all

Correct. People who have zero clue on how to run and produce large scale events always have the most to say about how to run a business.

    i watched up to 6:30.
so Baja Beach Fest in rosarito mexico, is a reggaetón and latin music festival that i believe is very worth price of admission. with it being on the beach theres plently of room for everyone to see the artists. Theres only one stage but thats whats great its very big and everyone can see. They have bars next to the beach where you can hangout dance and drink at. plently of food and drinks inside the festival itself, and tons of free activities to partake in. it seems all the festivals in the US dont come even close to the amount of enjoyment you can have at Baja Beach Fest.

Music festivals are pretty expensive to the point that had never been to one until 2016 when I was like 27 years old and went to Music Midtown. It was cool but felt like I paid a lot of money to then pay more money do anything other than stand and listen to music I could listen to at home (with better quality)
