    Jarhead is a movie which is so underrated. Probably they screwed up with a lot of sexual scenes which were sometimes useless,but other than that,the movie is a pure gem. It portrays very well the problems related to being a soldier before,during and after the war.
    But more Importantly,it is the most accurate media representing the First Gulf War
    That War could simply be described as "Hell let Loose in a Desert",and the movie
    does a perfect job with its cinematography. You think that the shot of guys standing inside a country-sized smoke cloud is fictional? You think that the shot of soldiers watching countless oil wells catching fire while encountering little to no enemies was unrealistic? You're wrong,because that happened and not too long ago.
    Definitely a top pick

    At 1:15 the burning spitfire in Dunkirk revealed a big mistake, as the planes cowling comes off all you see is a tiny rod on which the propeller is attached, no engine, no frame, no piping etc no nothing. You think they would burn an entire spitfire?

    • @Ponen77
      @Ponen77 2 года назад +17

      @@ncch7568 lol of course not...don't be daft...they probably didn't expect the cowling to fall off while the prop was burning...now if they did expect the cowling to be exposed while the prop burned they could have put a bit more effort and made a mocked up engine. Or they might have also just probably not cared and thought most people wont notice. The entire movie had a lot of sections where cgi to remove modern buildings and structures would have helped greatly, such as the modern buildings visible for example in the English docks where you see many modern buildings including the Weymouth Sealife Tower opened 2012, and other modern buildings with green roofing and modern windows, and what about Dunkirk itself, the town was practically untouched, no sign of the battle damage from the days and weeks before, and when the Spitfire is gliding past the beach and you can make out very modern buildings, very starkly evident in the cinema.
      Now of course Nolan wanted to keep cgi to a minimum but it would have really helped in this film, especially with the very anemic aerial battles,(Hardy's spitfire should have run out of ammo long before fuel was even a concern) which again due to his insistence on using on real planes limited the movies ability to show actual combat maneuvers, though understandable probably due to not wanting to stress the planes and risk damage or other accidents. This is why cgi would have helped greatly, for example just even adding more planes in the background to represent the actual numbers that took part in the battle. In the movies both the beaches and the skies were very empty, in fact I find the Dunkirk scene in Atonement(2007) was much better represented.

    Personally I think on of the best shots in cinema is the pirates of the Caribbean at worlds end as they float sideways at the end and for a few seconds it’s compete silence just a wide shot until in cuts back into the chaos
