I do like my A9 very much. Of the #8 nibbed pens I've tried, it is by far the most comfortable to use. Nice review, Doug, and a particularly beautiful guitar intro.

Thank you very much for another excellent video! I always find it refreshing to be shown
how to get scratchy nibs smooth at low cost and also the improvisation to make a stub nib.

Thank you Doug for this review. When the Hongdian N10 came out, I really had no interest in getting one. While I am a sucker for #8 nibs, I really did not like the look and have no interest in yet another slick writer that would sit idle in a drawer forever. The N9 seems more interesting but that pattern etched into it would drive me nuts when that line does not align with the nib. I may have to wait for the next Hongdian #8 nib pen design. The OCD is strong with this one!

Thank you so much for taking the time to make your videos and share your passions. You have helped me decide on fountain pens to get, enjoy from afar the ones I don't have, and more than a chuckle or two.

A nice review and comparison Doug. So far, I've been resisting the temptation to get an N10, and along comes the A9. I do like the Hongdian pens I have in my collection so if I were to get another one, it would most likely be the A9. It could keep my A3 company. I am a little late to the party in that, I have a Jinhao 92, 95, & x450 coming. I'm planning on putting a Zebra G nib in the 450.

"Nib bris"! Love that one, Doug. Thanks. Now, how is it that the nib was too big to fit inside the cap without being fully shoved up, ooooh! deeeeep! in the barrel? What engineering novice designed that "improvement"?

It was my bad. After I removed it I didn’t push hard enough to get the nib all the way in. Big nib, halfway in!

While I like the design and features of the N10, I went and bought the A9, originally for the color of the pen which was unavailable on the N10.
Although I am not a fan of the converter, it does work well. I think Hongdian missed an opportunity to use a larger converter as did Jinhao on their 9019.
I do like the nib on the A9 and the section is much better than on the N10.
I hope Hongdian continues to release more pens with their #8 nib. Why let Jinhao and the other guys have all the fun.
    Great review, Doug.

I have the Brown one, the pen looks awesome with that big nib, and yes the line in the barrels can be a little annoying.

Thanks! How does the bounciness of the #8 compare to the recent bouncy #6 Hongdian nibs?

They’re about the same. I’ve enjoyed the new HD #6 nibs.

I recently bought the A9 in Blue EF. I am disappointed...it's very dry, trying with Waterman Florida blue...

Grrr, these Chinese pens! I love to hate them and to buy them. While these two don't spark my interest, that new D5X is trouble. I have three D5's and have resisted getting the green version. While I don't love the green version, it seems to me to reflect a more authentic Chinese look better than the other colors. The new D5X is making me go through the purchasing mental gymnastics as to whether I end up with one or not. Grrr.
