you think genndy can just run whatever show he wants? the world has been evolving, and more people are beginning to see animation is a medium for art, not a kid's genre. Samurai Jack Seasons 1-4 were already mature for their kid demographic, but being targeted for adult audiences gives Genndy a lot more freedom, both in writing and depictions of violence. If people still widely thought that cartoons were for kids today like they did back then, Genndy might not have wanted to make season 5 at all, or CN wouldn't allow it without making it even more kid friendly than it was before. It could have ended up like Teen Titans GO, or the New Powerpuff Girls. but that's just speculation at the end of the day
The reason it was on Adult Swim as apposed to Cartoon Network is because Mike Lazzo, one of the executives in charge of production at Cartoon Network, moved to run Adult Swim.
Despite growing up when the original show ran, this was my true first experience with the series and made me hunt down all 4 seasons to marathon with Season 5. Now i have the complete Blu-ray collection as well as Battle Through Time on my PS4
