yea honestly the finale was really rushed and they could have made it way cooler and more memorable kinda disappointing but were lucky we got a season 5

You know Aku was about to receive the final blow right before future(or present) Jack, who is a lot of times stronger than present/past Jack, came from the future?
Aku was doomed against the old Jack, he already used about all of his power to face him, so he was way too tired to even try to face the same warrior, but better in every single possible way.
and well, he DID try to flight since he couldn't fight anymore, but future Jack didn't let him go away with that bs.
and to be fair, the chase was rather pretty long considering he was defeated.
Jack's dad needed tons of buffs to stand a chance, Jack grinded so much he practically was overleveled to this earth and beyond.

I wouldn't consider that honorable so much as just naive. Jack was honorable all the same while still being cunning, because he fought for the right reasons. At the end of the day, fighting for the right reasons is more important than gloating at your opponent.
One thing that seems to be a consistent thing with Jack's father is his cuts always fall short like despite all his anger, he can't finish the job, then there's Jack who always goes all the way through with his cuts.
From some of the themes in Season 5, his anger might actually be what's impeding him.

Jacks father knew at this time he was not strong enough to defeat AKU. His mission was to trap AKU and by time to figure out how to defeat AKU. As time grew he couldn’t figure it out. But had a plan in place that when he did return jack was there only hope.
The Gods: "we should intervene and help the humans"
The Gods again: "nah let's just give a dude a sword that COULD defeat Aku and call it a day"

What I love about Aku here is that he doesn't fight like a human would, he fights like a monster. a demon. something eldritch and evil. you really get the scope that Aku is while a destructive monster is clever creating what amounts to an army for Jack's father to fight.
Really goes to show just how dangerous while at the same time subpar Aku is when you remember that he’s only a small part of something so much greater.
But in the last part he is about to fight like a human. But yeah in general.

My theory is that Aku might devourer gods if they fought him making him a cosmic scale threat.. problem the gods can't risk that as it was a very hard fought battle last time.. Aku literally was devourering the entire creation.. it took everything from Ra Vishnu and Odin to stop him and end.. keep in mind that version is still Aku but weak but still powerfull with so many abilities like telechinisis , elemental abilities, size and matter manipulation ,time manipulation, regeneration, immorality, invulnerability only venurable to the sword, intangibility.. FTP travel like in the hunter episode where he just casually goes to edge of some galaxy and returns like in seconds.. he people really belive that Aku is just some random villan ready to be defeated but in reality he's the most powerful being in his verse with only divine beings able to even inflict damage.. like nothing can stop Aku except from deity's but still he's op enough to kill them.. a personification of darkness and chaos born in the heart of darkness.. it's not worth killing him if he takes out just 1 deity causing imbalance in the universe so that's why they entrust mortals to take him out..

The original dark entity that the gods fought was created along with the universe, it didn't even resemble Aku at that time other than that pitch-black color!
God destroyed it, only a small mindless part of that entity escaped and reached the earth and kept absorbing everything that came into contact with it ensuring it's growth! At this point, this thing was basically a mindless threat and could have been easily contained!!
It was the human-made poison that gave it life & mind! Hence it had a Japanese 👺 mask-like face! Something that even Aku thanked the Emperor for in a way (Aku never killed him)
Gods can't fight a thing that was made alive by humans, we need to fight it on our own. Gods can provide us the weapons, motivation, strength. But in the end, only our righteousness and will to overcome can defeat the poisonous-evil that we created with our own hand!
This was the message of Samurai Jack!
Devouring the Gods a vague idea that sounds like SCP Scarlett king, even he only able to devour some gods who didn't have a conscious while other smart ones escaped & eventually helped to lock him away!
If the gods had defeated a cosmic entity that is made of a fabric of darkness, then Aku is just a ripped string!
What I find funny about Aku that even if he had insane powers he was still vulnerable to depression, just like a normal human being!
It took me a bit of thinking to understand how the sword works despite what was said.
The sword is forged from 3 Monk gods. Made with spiritual power it can cut through anything physical and spiritual. Created for one purpose, used for every purpose. By cutting Aku, it forces him to use his power to heal himself. This however, weakens him. With each blow he becomes weaker, until being wrapped around the sword and laid to the ground, tired and weak.

The comment is about Samurai Jack series and what the sword can cut in the series it never said that can cut every fictional villian... It works with Aku because Aku's power are supernatural him himself is a supernatural creature the sword can cut him for that reason.

Makes you wonder how Jack was able to beat Aku with some effort, but the Emperor barely beats Aku here and this was when he had armor, a cloud, and a horse briefly. Jack had nothing but a sword.
This makes me think that either the gods truly trust Jack's ability so they only gave him a gi and a sword, or they just didn't give a crap to give him more buffs and surprised with the outcome.
Jack trained from the best Warriors and cultures the world has known since he was a child. When in the future, he trained even more to go into near super Human ability (Learning to Jump Good, for example) and fight machines of exceptional speed, durability and stopping power.
Jack was turned into a god.
Jack's father is a level 50 character with full end game equipment. While Jack is a level 120 character with only one end game weapon and has thousands of hours of gameplay under his belt.

This fight was still amazing even 10 years ago.
"Why didn't we get a battle like this for the finale?"
Well, we did, actually. Think about it. The heroic spirit of one man and this sword alone was not enough to defeat Aku. Jack had spent 50 years using this blade that was forged only to do good, and he only ever used it for that purpose until he lost his hope and way eventually. When he was restored and worthy to wield this blade again, he now had allies in the form of all those he had saved using this sword whom without he would have never been able to defeat Aku. Even Ashi, Aku's daughter, was changed by Jack, and she was the key to finally returning to the past. We think it's sad that the future seems to be gone, but it clearly existed as it was all for that moment to finally stop Aku once and for all.
The sword's purpose for being forged is very important and a key theme to understanding why Jack finally finished what his father couldn't yet.

Something I find fun is that in this and prior to sending Jack into the future, Aku was completely serious. No jokes, no wisecracks, no goofiness.
Shows that when he needs to, he can take himself DEATHLY serious.
That's what made Aku such a great villain. He wasn't just a joke or 100% serious all the time.
He would flip at an instant and you always knew what he was capable off. So unless Jack was there, there was ALWAYS tension like how Aku sends a kid to the pit of sorrows or has no issue killing the Scotsman despite being depressed.

The guys who made this are great with the story-telling. I love that we see the fight from Aku's side, and it is akin to a person trying to swat an annoying insect.
Then we see it from Jack's father, where he's basically zipping around in a way where the horizon is constantly shifting around him, giving proper scale of his experience fighting aku

Sadly, this was way more epic and satisfying than the series finale's "final fight".
Fred the fish from Spongebob Aku wasn’t prepared for the fight so he attempted to run away before Jack killed him.
Aku was already defeated when Jack killed him, since Jack traveled back to the time exactly after he had just defeated Aku.
lmao I honestly thought after the time skip the Sa Moh Rah i trained to become a real samurai and that he would appear to help Jack alongidr the other filler characters like Scotman n the Super Jump Monkeys

Jack was also beyond Human as an adult. Jacks father was trained in a single fighting style, while jack mastered literally all fighting styles of the world from his time, and then continuously fought super robots and demons for 50 years, learned tricks like "Jump Good".
Jack was not just a jack of all trades, he was a master of all. While Jack's father was a master of one.

@@Wiiware2568 yeah but it wasn't the only thing about him that made him awesome. The first few episodes of the show where he was introduced he was basically introduced as a vile evil sadistic demon. Over the course of the episodes and seasons he started to become less evil and more about just fucking around with Jack and making snarky little jokes. In this episode and the episode where he returns years later he was an evil son of a bitch that killed people and just felt like torturing Jack.
Aku in season 5 feels like such a miss opportunity, goofy is fine but he's just a stupid clown.

Long ago in a distant land, I jack the destroyer of Aku ruled after my father, but i know aku will appear once again in the future......
Made me wish that the series will end with an epilogue episode that took place in an Aku-less future where remnants of Aku's forces attempted to revive him (I mean, you can't permanently stop evil itself), only to be stopped by the Scotsman and Jack's descendant. I guess it would be a better payoff since the future is kinda forgotten after Aku's defeat. I know that the future will ceased to exist like Ashi but at least show a glimpse of the future without Aku.

jacks father is so badass 🔥
Jack’s father really is such a well crafted and fleshed out character.
He really embodies great wisdom, fortitude, grit, and more that comes from a great leader/emperor.
Also his facial expression when he remembered his wife screaming. Whoa! *Made my spine tingle*
Also I really enjoyed the choreography put into the scene’s animation with Jack’s father riding the cloud and darting around Aku like a fly with many evasive maneuvers. The horseback riding, showing how well trained he is on horseback. Also the sword clanging with the strikes just hurting Aku with each hit :)
There is also Aku with his early developed laugh as overly confident he cannot be harmed. Then his fits of infuriated rage were delivered so well by Mako in this encounter here.
This series is a masterpiece of animation and deeply creative imagination from Genndy Tartakovsky with his assimilated team. Stupendous work!

This is masterful -- everything that the worthless Season 5 didn't have. The previous 4 seasons -- the real show -- comprised powerful, metaphysical, spiritual combat; profound themes. And Season 5? Jokes, cheap psychology, and of course, lots and lots of "diversity."
I've always LOVED Aku's eye beams!!! The way they have to charge up for a sec and it isn't super obvious, it's like "Wait what's happening his eyes just started to gl... OH SHIT!" 😆😆

@@shrekisthebestfranchiseand5032 I have seen Avatar and it is awesome but I still think Samurai Jack is better. Perhaps Avatar's characters are a bit better but Samurai Jack has a superior storytelling and while I do love Avatar's worldbuilding, I found Samurai Jack's world to be more interesting

Jack made beating Aku look easy. Also, isn't it impossible to destroy Aku? He says as much, all they can do is seal him away for a time, so how was Jack able to to kill Aku if he can't actually die? And why did Jack's dad, enhanced by the same gods that made his sword, have such a hard time compared to Jack?

@@rs07scapeNews Was Aku not in his prime the entire time? I did watch the show, and there was no indication Aku was weaker facing Jack than he was facing his father. The only time Aku was technically weaker was when Future Jack came back in time immediately from Aku's perspective and killed him, but even before that, Jack walked into Aku's lair and nearly killed him easily before being thrown into the future.
When Jack returned to Japan after killing the guards tormenting his dad he told his dad he would use the sword to vanquish Aku believing the power of the sword alone is enough to kill him but his dad told him that he once thought the same like Jack and that the sword is only a tool and that its power pales in comparison to the hand that uses it. So while he should allow the sword to guide him to his fate he should also let his mind set free to the path to destiny.
So I think it was down to when his dad defeated Aku he could only imprison Aku due to he relied too much on the sword's power rather then allowing his mind to guide him.
Also Jack's dad trapped Aku in the sword once then stabbing it into the ground. Jack trapped Aku in the sword twice. First time he he allowed Aku out in a weakened state then the second time while Aku was still weak and Jack cut him to bits until there was only a tiny bit left of him he trapped what was left of Aku in the sword then stabbed it into the ground.
I hate to say it but if Jack’s dad had gone right for the head then he probably could have finished it right then and there. Aku didn’t know the sword could kill him, at the time he didn’t think anything could kill him. So instead of just going for a small cut and then taking the time to explain the swords powers he probably could have gone for a finishing move and Aku would have just stood there and took it. Or better yet he could have tried a sneak attack instead of flying in head first.
