Bithiah was such a likable character in this movie. While she isn't Moses' mother by blood, she raised him with love and even after he found his true heritage and destiny, she still loved him and followed him to Canaan, never giving up on him.
"Exodus"... She was praying for a child while her father was, you know "my body my choice"...Psalm (127:3) The princess took baby Moses to his natural mother for nourishment. She obviously spoke with his older sister.
@@orange300-ct8fcThere is speculation that she is the same Bithiah mentioned in 1 Cronicles 4:18, but this cannot be true. Moses was 80 years old when he returned to Egypt to help God’s people out of Egypt. And the Bithiah in 1 Cronicles went on to marry a Jew and have children. The scripture does say she was Pharaoh’s daughter, but personally I think she must have been Pharaoh Ramses daughter, the pharaoh that Moses went up against. What do you think?
Fun Fact: Fraser C. Heston, the actor who plays baby Moses, is the real life son of Charlton Heston, the actor who plays the older version of Moses in this movie.
In his autobiography Heston said the child retired from acting at the age of three months, because he was smarter than his old man. Heston said the kid was paid in Paramount stock. Also, he said he was in the water just off camera, keeping an eye on his son.

Guess what? God had the king of all Nile crocodiles come and all others scattered from the basket. Then HE had that crocodile nudge the basket to the right place and leave. Oh and of course the angel of the Lord was watching closely that none of the crocodiles got any ideas. Another illustration said it like this, God had Gabriel stand on the basket as it drifted down the river and everytime a hostile showed up, Gabriel had been ordered to kick them in the nose.
1:01 Narrator 2: Now, not all who lived within Pharaoh’s palace felt the same way. A few had hearts of benevolence, such as the Pharaoh’s daughter. The minute she laid her eyes on the infant, she began to show affection.
I just realized that Bithiah’s words about Moses future did end up coming true. • His deeds as an adult are indeed mighty. All the plagues he conjured with God’s aide as well as the parting of the Waves of the Red Sea and the witnessing of the creation of the Ten Commandments. •Kings DID bow before Moses (at least metaphorically if you count the moment when Ramses eventually “bowed” to Moses’ requests for the freedom of the slaves and freed them, and then again in the privacy of his throne room when he was forced to admit to his wife that his God was indeed real). • And while the pyramids have yet to be dust, Moses’ name and his story will ultimately outlive them in the end, just as his name ultimately outlived the Pharaohs who came after him.
She actually spoke to pharaoh to let the Israelites go if Moses returns. She also had another son who was Egyptian, and he was the only survivor of the 10th plague. (No father apparently still gathering more info) She also married an Israelite named Mered, from the tribe of Judah, and had descendants. She is also mentioned in Proverbs 31:15.

I love classic legendary movies , there us this deep depth , reality and authenticity to them and what beautiful images of people on the screen , the vision is very clear , i😊❤🎉God , amen .
I think I see God's hand in this. I believe God told Bithia to tell Memnet the day she opened her mouth would be the day she died. However, Memnet foolishly broke the oath, opened her mouth & wound up dead just as Bithia had said she would. Whether bithia was there to hear Memnet open her mouth or not.
I always wonder what happened to Moses' adopted mother. She could have easily handed him over to the authorities, but she was a decent woman and helped raise him. Surely that would account for something in God's eyes
5:11 Narrator 2: Bithiah and Pharaoh, after much consideration by his wife, took little Moses to their hearts, and he was given his lessons within the palace walls. When he was old enough, they lectured him all of what it meant to be royal family. Yet one family member, Ramses the 2nd, did not seem to show love and affection towards all those who love Egypt. They grew up together, though. Ramses was bitterly jealous of the attention Moses received from his loving parents, who considered him a gift from God. Now before Moses had been rescued from the river, Ramses had been first in line for the throne. Today, all that was to be changed.
4:04 Narrator 2: Grateful for the savior of her infant brother, Miriam thought to herself, “One day, we shall meet again. And you will deliver us from this hard labor.”. But that day was in the future.
I got to admit Bithiah is 1 of the most dedicated mothers in all of biblical history she cared for Moses for most of his life before he got kicked out of Egypt For killing 1 of the slave drivers and during the final plague Moses let his adoptive mother and her servants in to stay with him and his family it really shows that Moses cared about the woman who raised him for a better part of his life and after the final plague struck and the israelites were set free from their slavery Bithiah leaves Egypt with Moses and his people
He opens up a modern-day profile and tells them to place the 5 books in the Ark of the Covenant alongside the new replacement Tablets of the 10 Commandments. What about it?
Scripture does record that Bithiah and Mered married (1 Chron. Chp 4, verse 18). It's brilliant that DeMille subtly implies an affinity between them later on in this marvelous film. #FavoriteFilm📖✝️💗
Scripture does, but Scripture isn't history. HISTORY does not record that moses every conquered anything or any nation HISTORY and FACT does not show that moses EVER built any structures in egypt Now.. don't you find that weird ?
This is the most extravagant movie production ever made, with all the thousands of extras, the on-site sets, the hundreds of animals and etc. However, equally large in scope Ghandi maybe? Jesus the Nazarene was a large production as well.
1:03 Narrator 2: In the palace garden, many servant girls, including the Pharaoh’s daughter, Bithiah, were taking their daily refreshment by the river. Bithiah didn’t think like her father, for she had a more benevolent heart.
The Declaration of "This is my son" is a written into ancient egyptian law. If a mother or a father picks up the child and states his or her ownership it is law.
"Raise your hands, Memnet. What you have buried in the Nile shall remain buried in your heart. Swear it.". "I shall be silent.'. "The day you break that oath will be the last your eyes shall ever see. You will be the glory of Egypt, my son. Your name will live when pyramids are dust. And because I drew you out from he water, you shall be called Moses. Moses! Moses!'. "I am the son of your body. Who else could be your heir?". "The man best able to rule Egypt will follow me. I owe that to my fathers. Not to my sons.". "Then I shall follow you. But this I know my father. No pretended brother will ever have your crown, or Néfertiri.". "Whoever I choose will have my crown, and Nefretiri.". Another excellent scene from The Ten Commandements directed by Cecil B. DeMille. Both Nina Foch as Bithiah and Judith Anderson as Memnet are excellent. The same for Yul Brynner as Rameses. He got fame with that movie. Another great Hollywood legend. A truemendous and fantastic career. Great Cedric Hardwicke as Sethi, Rameses' father. So many great actors played in that legendary biblical drama. There will never be another biblical movie like The Ten Commandements. God bless Cecil B. DeMille and all the cast of this masterpiece.
Sethi only has one son. Moses is his adopted grandson. But when Ramses exiles Moses, he calls him his "one-time brother" instead of his "one-time nephew".
Moses was assumed to have been Sethi's nephew, born from Sethi's sister, Bithia. Moses and Ramses were around the same age and raised together as brothers, though the court and Sethi thought them cousins.
1:16 Narrator 2: What had become of Bithiah’s husband, we do not speak of. What’s more important to the story is how Bithiah discovered the infant in the basket.
In a way, this was remade in 2014 with Exodus: Gods and Kings. There was a 1998 animated film based on the Book of Exodus called The Prince of Egypt. Also, this was a remake of a 1923 film of the same name.
@@JaMarcusRussellGOAT Brazil also made a full 200 episode drama about the entire life story of Moses. It's really good and they expanded loads of characters and details found only in the bible.

I wish someone would explain just how Nefiteri fit into the royal family of Egypt. The movie claims she is a princess and has to marry the next pharoah. So how and who is she related to? She isn't Seti's daughter and she isn't Bithia's daughter. No matter how you slice it, when she ends up with Ramses the two of them must be already related by blood. I know in-breeding was practiced quite a lot back then, but geez!
The Royal Illuminati family back then has come down the generations to the royals and US presidents of today and yes they marry their relatives a lot to keep satanic "Bloodlines of the Illuminati" as Fritz Springmeier will tell you in his book named "Bloodlines of the Illuminati".
You asked the question I always wondered, too 💯🤔 I never thought about it until recently. We all know she's supposed to marry the next pharaoh, to keep the "bloodline pure."
The Ptolemies, who became pharaohs in Egypt after the death of Alexander the Great, followed some of the old customs in order for the common egyptians to accept them as rulers, and this included marriage in the royal family between close relations.

Reading the bible the sister and pharaoh daughter had a conversation and it lead to Moses mother getting paid to raise him. So this scene is not completely accurate
That took place offscreen as later Memnet told Nefertiri about Miriam leading Bithiah to Yochabel....as Bithiah was not exactly able to breastfeed a newborn.
@@ddthewolf Those that do not read the bible might believe the inaccuracies and that is dangerous. In not putting that bit in people are missing one of the most important messages of the scene. According to the Bible this scene is wrong. The Pharoah's daughter sent her maidens to bring the basket for her. Also unlike portrayed in many movies the basket was not left to sail across the Nile rather it was left on the reeds of the bank of Nile where it was found by Pharoah's daughter.
I think they did that for cinema effect. For example, Nefertiti is not mentioned in Exodus at all. But it did a romance/first love to Moses's story. Of course, he later does get married to Zipporah. (Which the name is accurate). But she was Ethopian not white like shown in the movie.
I will send the [shadow] of my [Beloved Mother] along with my father's shadow, Enoch: For I will bereave you , to walk this long like you were tale- beares until we are no more; You will die like the {varment} you are [knowledge battle power] as you told that I am.
It always bugged me that she "hides" the basket right where they obviously go into the water. Nobody's going to step on that getting in one day in the near future? Come on! Sinking it in the reeds or near one of those pillars farther out would have made more sense.
Bithia was Ramsey 1st daughter. The he died and his son Ramsey the 2nd became the Pharoah of Eygpt Ramsey the 2nd and Bithia were brother and sister and her husband had died. Bithiah was such a likable character in this movie. While she isn't Moses' mother by blood, she raised him with love and even after he found his true heritage and destiny, she still loved him and followed him to Canaan, never giving up on him.
Yeah, the brazilian series truly expanded her character. With many sad experiences, but grew into a brave woman with loads of empathy for the Hebrews.

Don't forget Hippopotamus, the Egyptians feared them more that the Crocks.

A beautifully filmed, acted and directed masterpiece motion picture that generations can enjoy together .
Classic of classics. A motion picture masterpiece.
Beautiful film and a retelling of the book of Moses. Grateful I was shown this as a child.

Bithia is the type of woman that men want to marry
She actually spoke to pharaoh to let the Israelites go if Moses returns.
She also had another son who was Egyptian, and he was the only survivor of the 10th plague. (No father apparently still gathering more info)
She also married an Israelite named Mered, from the tribe of Judah, and had descendants. She is also mentioned in Proverbs 31:15.

I got to admit Bithiah is 1 of the most dedicated mothers in all of biblical history she cared for Moses for most of his life before he got kicked out of Egypt For killing 1 of the slave drivers and during the final plague Moses let his adoptive mother and her servants in to stay with him and his family it really shows that Moses cared about the woman who raised him for a better part of his life and after the final plague struck and the israelites were set free from their slavery Bithiah leaves Egypt with Moses and his people
5:17 Narrator 2: Years passed, and Moses grew into a strong, young man, becoming the commander of his adoptive father’s army.
Love this movie. Listen closely in the end were Moses says, “ keep the 5 books safe” ...

The Declaration of "This is my son" is a written into ancient egyptian law. If a mother or a father picks up the child and states his or her ownership it is law.
3:31 Narrator 2: And Bithiah gave the child a heartfelt name. A name that means, drawn from the water. Moses.
This is a way of Gods sense of humour, and He chooses the path for who ever is chosen in His sight.
"Raise your hands, Memnet. What you have buried in the Nile shall remain buried in your heart. Swear it.". "I shall be silent.'.
She's probably Sethi's daughter by another concubine, making her Ramses' half-sister and Moses' cousin (Egyptians were big fans of adoption).
@@BridaUlvThat’s right. I think the real Ramses II and queen Nefretari were half siblings.

And...?
So...?

To quote my high school teacher: "Moses in the bulrushes."

For I will bereave you , to walk this long like you were tale-
beares until we are no more; You will die like the {varment}
you are [knowledge battle power] as you told that I am.
Glory to God Jehovah almighty ✝️✡️✝️
two years filming its great
This scene cures me whenever I get baby fever 😊
Confucius say she in state of de-Nile
She sent Miriam into the Nile to follow Moses. She must have forgotten the Nile is loaded with crocodiles.
It always bugged me that she "hides" the basket right where they obviously go into the water. Nobody's going to step on that getting in one day in the near future? Come on! Sinking it in the reeds or near one of those pillars farther out would have made more sense.
where can I watch the full movie?
It was Pharaoh’s wife, not daughter, who found Moses. And she wasn’t like the other ancient Egyptians. She was a believer.
It was Pharaohs daughter Bithia that found Moses. Her husband had got killed. Bithia brother became the Pharoah after their father passed.
I always read it was his daughter
Bithia was Ramsey 1st daughter. The he died and his son Ramsey the 2nd became the Pharoah of Eygpt Ramsey the 2nd and Bithia were brother and sister and her husband had died. The only one whom new the truth was the old house madien. Sh was with Bithia whe she found the basket n th river. Bithia told her to get rid of the blanket that moses was wrappedin and the madien pretended thst she got rid of it but she hid it in her dress.
@@ddthewolf she was the daughter to Ramsey the1st.
@@joannegarner5331 no.. It was his wife who found musa a. s in the river. She refused to acknowledge him as God that's why she was punishef
Memnet is the classic "mammy" archetype... Someone born low with little to no education, but highly intelligent and take no BS from anyone... even those above her.
0:28 Narrator 2: Now, although Pharaoh had begun to think his infanticide scheme was going according to plan, this particular infant would be the one to change the slaves’ lives forever.
