God I love mid-sized shows. The bands actually can play the notes, but they aren't so uptight that they have to sound like television. All the best shows I've been to have been mid-sized, with a few gems of locals thrown in there.
Probably the top mid-size show I went to was Pearl Jam- Nirvana- Red Hot Chili Peppers right before any of them hit it to the super big time. But there have been a lot of others like this that I loved just as much w/o the names anybody would think were that cool. Social Distortion-Screaming Trees- Pixies was also damn cool- at least for my young impressionable mind. And Primus live? Anywhere- fantastic.
Anyway- it doesn't matter the type of music- I prefer midsize- like Hollywood Bowl- or anywhere in your town that's not as fancy a name. I just wish we had more good mid-sizes in my town. There's basically about 3 small venues that are good, and one mid-size that has some good stuff, but they also have like... Steely Dan and shit. The fancy theaters in my town and most places I've lived are too tight-assed, and the dive clubs stink of vomit and spilled beer. And I'm NEVER going back to the arena in my town for anything- the last time I went they just dissed me and didn't hesitate about it. Just a bunch of trash people running that place- I spit on them- the whole staff and their sound crew. You suck. But I won't name the exact place, b/c I don't want to spoil anyone else's possible experiences.
Thank you to whoever did such a steady job filming this performance. Much appreciated.
