This song needs to be on the radio NOW. There's something about the lyrics in this song that speaks right to my heart. I think it may be my new favorite from Home Free.
This is such a beautiful song, and it's brought tears to my eyes more than once. I guess we all need to learn how to look at our past and learn it's lessons. Chris Chatham plays a beautiful guitar line, Tim and Chance are magnificent in the lead, Rob and Austin sing like angels, and Adam Rupps no-monica just rips your heart out. Love it.
Love this song! Chris Chatham's guitar is brilliant, Tim is SO GOOD, Chance's verse was exceptional, the harmonies were beautiful as always, and the backdrop was stunning. A new favorite!
The tender tone of their version makes the journey all the more poignant. It delivers on the feels and you can tell the respect and gratitude felt for the gifts they received from the place that raised them. Gentle lament for the loss of days gone by. Beautiful. Something everyone can relate to.
From one Southern boy to another, this song hits you right in the feels. It definitely stirs the emotions. It’s such a great song and needs to be played on national country music radio stations. But, it probably won’t as usual. Great reaction!
To move forward with your life and letting go of the past. To acknowledge, love and embrace what made you you but to move on...be it a job, a relationship, a small town, a family home for the first time. Sad yet hopeful. So much in this song. Beautiful!
Man, Adam Rupp made me cry for real. That no-monica ..just scream "Burst into tears here". Tim, Chris Chatham and Austin wrote this. Chance tho...omgoodness I could listen to him for days...all by himself. When he takes lead it's kind of like he comes right out of the rock itself and it rings out. Geniuses they are when it comes to handing off lead to each other. But Adam Rupp on No-monica made me actually tear up every time he took lead for a second. Amazing how they did it.
Another great original song! This is such a beautiful heartfelt melancholy song. Tim's lead was awesome along with all the guy's harmonies & Adam's harmonica sounds were great as usual. I don't mind having an instrument played once in awhile in a song. It was tastefully done in the background without taking over. It added a nice element. Also like the scenery in Colorado. Can't understand why some commenters have been really negative about the lyrics. They are truthful in saying that some of the south's past may not be pleasant but not all of it is. Our background & upbringing still makes us the person we are.
Seems like we can all relate to leaving something behind for a better life ahead, the bittersweetness of moving forward while honoring the past. Appreciated your honest emotion.
The lower voices for leads, Adam's harmonica, the high harmonies floating above along with the light touch on the guitar - what's NOT to love in this song? Sad and hopeful at the same time. Adam Wakefield (Texas Hill) brought the title, Tim, Austin, and Chris fleshed out the words, and they loved Chris's guitar accompaniment so much they felt compelled to continue to use it in the recording and on stage.
yep, that headphones toss was well earned by Home Free.....simply stunning videography, but those lyrics & melody....OH MY GOODNESS......it's gorgeous,......I truly don't know how they do it....BUT IT'S ANOTHER BANGER BY HOME FREE......they never, ever miss ! that was Chris Chatham Dennis,,,,I believe he co-wrote rgus with Tim. I Dennis I connect to it, from the point of it's a story of looking forward not backwards, and also gratefulness....they learned lessons they can take forward to make a better life for not only themselves but to make others lives better
Isn’t it beautiful?!! I heard this live when I saw them in PA. They just sat down and sang this and Chris Chatham was playing guitar…it was so pretty. Tim wrote this one with Chris. You nailed the meaning. Love your tears…it got me in the feels too. 🥰
They did this at the concert I was at in October and Chris actually made a surprise appearance at the show. I love this song. Hope you are feeling better.
Another masterpiece. Really so beautiful. Great lead from Tim and Chance. The amazing guitar playing of Chris Chatham that just belongs to this song. Then Adam's modest but incredible no-monica, the background vocals, the bass and great harmonies round it off completely. All this in a wonderful environment. Top!
It was freezing cold where they shot the video ... Tim even has a few packets of hand warmers that he puts in his pocket ... Just to cute .. These 5 ANGELS 😇😇😇😇😇 .... r just AMAZEINGLY AWESOME in every way .... Luv luv luv them all ... Luv from Australia 🦘🥰😍🤩😘😗
This is an absolutely beautiful song. I love how well Chris Chatham plays the guitar. This song was written by Tim, Austin, Adam Wakefield (from Texas Hill) and Chris Chatham. From what I understand it was shot in Colorado. I love when you show your true emotions in your reaction.
Since Chris help write this song they asked him to be in the video. It was filmed in Denver ... and it was very cold and windy. The behind the scenes video is pretty cool. Great reaction. Have a great evening.
Hits my feels every time I cry. I remember people that I've lost as well as places I miss. It's a memory soother as well as an enhancer. Tim and Chance just nail it was so glad Chris Chatham was able to join them in Denver for the video. The best thing about HF is that they service the songs needs never any divas no egos just what does the song need and that is why it's hard to pick a favorite. Thanks for reacting so quickly ! This whole album is just OMGosh ! they have another video coming out soon filmed in TX with Texas Hill I can't wait to see that one !
A beautiful song and video. They shot this out here in Colorado near Denver when they were here on tour at the beginning of December. Since Chris Chatham flew out for the video, we had the pleasure of him being a surprise guest at the show for a few songs.
Love your true emotions when you react! Love this and even more so live. Heard it for the first time at my bash last year. Chatham, Austin, Tim and Adam Wakefield (Texas Hill) wrote this together! Beautiful song both lyrically and visually in this video! Thanks Dennis!!🥰
The video was recorded in Colorado. At a concert in San Antonio, Tim was talking about how happy he was with the Texas weather and that they weren't going to record videos in cold places anymore.
I was at that concert as well. I bought the CD and have played it over and over. Now being able to watch the Video, WOW. I am moved all over again with this song. ❤
Just AWESOMENESS .... Tim's voice suits the lead so well .... Just AMAZING words that Tim, Austin and Chattam come up with and put together and created this BEAUTIFUL masterpiece ... 🥰😍🤩😘😇
Little late catching up with you on this one and this song is sad and to see you react so honestly and profoundly is fantastic. It is a Tim Foust original and to speak directly to the subject, it's important to remember where we have come from to know where we are going. Their original music is just as stunning as their covers have been this last 10 years. They are THE ones to beat without a doubt. Any genre, original, cover, production value and arrangements are gold! Thank you for this.
I got to hear it live in October. It was amazing. Plus I got to buy the CD and have the CD before it was officially released. i got to see them 3 times in 2 week and loved it.
This is kind of off the supject...but you mentioned PTX doing the. National Anthem at the football game. Home Free also did the National Anthem at a Vikings game and also did the half time show with special guest the Singing Sergeants from the U.S Air force band....Lee couldn't make itt.
Actually this one is written by Tim, Austin, Chris Chatham (guitar), and Adam Wakefield. I think this was filmed in Colorado. The whole album is all gems to treasure.
My favorite Home Free original. But I can't help but wonder if this signifies a major change in Home Free's future. I am a Home Fry for life....but I will miss their treatment of Country music; their voices are so well-suited to it. Adam's haunting no-monica in the background is so appropriate.
Home Frie-day. Beautiful, though bittersweet song. Possible filmed in Dixie Utah, where the college formerly known as Dixie College is, before cancel culture forced it to change it's name. Though it looks like many places in the Four Corners area, and elsewhere out west.
VERY IMPORTANT The same year Date that you reacted to 3 weeks ago, came out as well as part 2 Parangal/Tribute, there was another 2 part. Part 1 Vow and Part 2 Perfect Pairs. There was also Part 1 Crush and Part 2 Homecoming. 👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠💓💓 By the way, Jollibee has a lot more choices than Chicken. You can see a lot of their commercials on their own channel Jollibee Studios.
This is beautifully bittersweet. It heals an American hurt that’s difficult to express. The lyrics - they’re an intimate, personal expression of a single soul. There’s just something about these men and their music that touches the spirit. Home Free, somehow, has the ability to break the rules. They can add an instrument and still feel a capella. Chris Chatham on guitar was just the right bit to add. His playing was just enough to augment, but not too much to distract. Damn, these men are good.
I'm pretty sure Tim actually wrote this one, right? Also, I love them including Chris Chatham more - he's amazing! Have you seen Austin, Tim, and Chris do Maria yet?
Unfortunately, it probably won’t because the only songs that make it to radio have big name labels pushing them. Maybe a fan request campaign could get it on a few times before the big labels figure it out.
This is beautiful but caused a lot of contention on the drop about leaving the south. I’m not southern so not affected but there were some very bothered. I thought the whole idea was such a positive moving forward message as the world does. All positive to me.❤
Tim says this is about a conversation that he and Austin had about leaving their southern roots to move to Tennessee for opportunities with their careers. They both were coming to terms with the fact that they will likely never move to the lower south again even though they miss it so much. I think, though unintentional, it has really struck a chord with some of us who live in the South. For me, it’s a bittersweet feeling but others are reacting to it as another ‘South shaming’ song, which it is not. And, South shaming IS real and has been for decades.
@@minneyruth I disagree with the lyrics, but not from a place of hate, at all. All disagreement is not hate, and neither is mine. But when I hear that 'Dixie' is on the wrong end of a one way road, and "it's time we start to learn from our mistakes," it starts to sound like that same impulse that made The Dixie Chicks change their name to The Chicks, or Lady Antebellum to Lady A. As if the word 'Dixie' can only mean one thing: A celebration of slavery and racism. Even in those days, it meant a lot more than that, being a part of a new nation whose Constitution held the seeds of the end of that awful institution. And the Dixie of today has certainly already 'started', and in fact _has_ learned from our mistakes. But apparently, someone saying 'so long' to Dixie doesn't believe that about her, and feels the need to 'walk away'. Which is kind of a strange choice, career-wise, seeing as how 'Dixie' comprises the bulk of their audience. Used to be the bulk of Taylor Swift's audience, too, until she crossed over into pop, after which you couldn't catch her singing another country note. Sad....
@@carolburnett190 I did not see that conversation, but perhaps Tim would do well to publish it more broadly. As written, without that context, the song certainly seems to be buying into that broader cultural attitude that the South is backward and racist, and that 'Dixie' means a celebration of her slave roots, something today only to be walked away from as irredeemable. Against the broader backdrop of today's culture, and without his explanation of his lyrics to otherwise inform, it sure sounds like they're turning their backs on their core audience, sadly.
As a born and raised Southerner, who has felt I have needed to repudiate many of the "traditional Southern [white] values", this song really speaks to my heart.
Home Free makes a lot of appearances in the South. Yet they feel free to release this song that insults a big part of their fan base? Well, I've bought my last Home Free records, stopped talking up the band with other music lovers, and definitely won't be going to any concerts. Hope this offensive song was worth it to you, fellas.

You worded this perfectly !

That last "So long" from Tim doubled my goosebumps.

This is incredible. Chris and the guitar!! Wow!! Tim, Austin and Chris are incredible songwriters!! 👏
Also Adam Wakefield from Texas Hill
A beautiful one. But don't think Tim will be moving all the to Ruppland again ever.

Like you, I too was moved to tears! This has to be one of Home Free's most poignant performances! Loved every note and lyric! Thanks for sharing!
This needs to be on the radio
I agree 💯
If this song doesn’t get at least nominated for a CMA award there’s no justice in this world
They're sure to win the "Dixie Chicks Scalawag Award" !

My favorite off the new album. Love Chris Chatham’s guitar playing as well. Thanks for reacting to this so quickly!

Thanks Dennis! Nice reaction!
Great group of guys. Great group of musicians. Was lucky enough to see them perform and it was an amazing show
Tim, Austin, and Chris Chatham (guitarist) original.

Beautiful ❤️
Tim, Austin and Chris Chatham wrote it. Tim and Austin were talking about leaving home and here we go.
Chance's verse is really gonna mess you up !
Love your reaction!
May I suggest you review “Go tell it on the mountain” covered by Home Free and Texas Hill.
Poor Chance looks like he's freezing his butt off. He should visit Minnesota about now. I've escaped there to Thailand for many months...I hope
So long home free!
