This hymn was played at my high school graduation in 1959 and meant nothing to me of itself. Now, having been born again by God's own Spirit, Jesus is now my Savior, Lord and coming King and the words of this hymn are life to me. It has become one of many true prayers to our Heavenly Father from my very grateful heart. Thank you for sharing this beautiful and very meaningful hymn. May we all experience God's very best in this new year 2023 as we grow in His grace. Jesus is Lord. Shalom. Maranatha. 🙏✝️❤✡🇺🇸⚖🇮🇱🎺📢

"God of Our Fathers," was written by Daniel C. Roberts in 1876. This patriotic hymn represents a double celebration of america's one hundredth birthday. The words were written in honor of the one hundredth anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The music was written twelve years later by George W. Warren, a self-taught organist, composed the stately tune with its' trumpet fanfares. It was called "National, Hymn" written to commemorate the one hundredth anniversary of the U.S. Constitution. He also wrote the words to
"Guide Me," to the Welsh hymn , "Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah." Warrren passed away in 1902. He was a unsurpassed at playing the organ!
This is one of my very favorite anthems!

Also it celebrated the Union victory in the Civil War and the end of slavery (indirectly)

Such a terrible rendition! Why would someone make something so insulting to the ears!
