Nice to watch two wonderful young souls discussing about heirloom seeds.
The host Shameek & guest speaker Sowmya have brought out almost the total gamut of issues relating to the heirloom seeds reviving .
Shameek had quietly scooped the vital information from Sowmya.Hats off to Shameek.👏🏼
Some of the experiences the guest had with farmers especially the example of turmeric farmer was a eye opener that there is still life in heirloom seeds.
Sowmya brought out the politics around the heirloom seeds and I guess GM seeds & hybrid seeds promoter are so strong that they will not allow these ideas to grow more than certain level. May be only as a hobby. Moreover the government, research institutions and the public want the plants, fruits and vegetables looking fancy, large and highyield in short time.
Again the ball is in the court of government, farmers, agricultural institutions and the end consumers to promote heirloom seeds& plants, emphasizing the importance of its medicinal & nutritional value and social & environmental impact .
Finally , the road ahead is very terrible and to sail safely ,you need a strong Federation of heirloom seed collectives with the help of government programs to promote this very idea of heirloom seeds .
My best wishes to Farmizen & Hooga in fulfilling their endeavours & long cherished dreams.👍🏼

Don’t make this free the documentation , for poor , Indian farmers should be free but all other it should but feeds …..look at Oregon university they keep coming to India learn organic farming from Indian foot soldiers like her now they have created a course in their university …..and I was surprised Ananda organic farm lady Mrs Laad did her advanced course fro there which was needed if we have our knowledge so Sowmya type people should start fee based curriculum for who can pay but for our village youth it should be free ….there should be documatries in local language to attract and make them understand and spread once people know the can , allergy, autism auto immune disease is caused by gmo seeds which need pesticide etc out gut can’t digest these gmo seed

I am also from a farmer family. But the quality of vegetables and fruits are not at all good. I tried and fed up with the supply what they have made. Need personal approach with the farmers and more of education in the area is required by professionals.
