I so agree with this rant. Kind of reminds me of how much they messed the Vampire Assistant movie. It was nothing like the books. They skipped stuff, fast forward thru plot points and even added characters who were not present in the books. Hell, they even introduce us to a certain character prematurely.
I remember the episode in book fire, where Aang and friends went to a play about them (Chapter 17) and at the end, Sokka said "but the effects were decent" lol. Irony win? Yes.

This fucking movie, if you could even call it that. This came out when I was 11 and I've been watching ATLA since I was like 6 or 7 so when I heard about this movie, I was so excited. I just couldn't get over the fact that one of my favorite shows was being made into a movie, it's about goddamn time! But then, after watching it, I wanted to put my head through a wall in hopes that I could forget that ever happened.
I'm surprised you never mentioned the one scene they put in the movie based off the episode where the gAang gets Katara arrested to help out Earthbenders being held captive on an oil rig on the sea. That scene made me so mad. As you said, the combat was just terrible, the character's movements all look so unnatural, and it removes the main purpose for that episode hapoening: the oil platform! It just takes place in a village occupied by Fire Nation soldiers where the Earthbenders have had their will to fight stripped away FOR SOME REASON despite having as many rocks to throw as they wanted!
Wanna know the best part? Apparently the names are the "proper pronunciation" like "so-kah" and "ee-row", but the show isn't even dubbed, the show is made in America or a place that speaks English by English speaking people. There is no proper pronunciation of something that isn't of another culture! The style of the show was based off of anime, it isn't from japan.
I thought the movie was bad purely because of Aang=Ong, Sokka=Soaka, Iroh=EE-ROH, and Avatar=Ovatar, the Fire Benders looking like Water Benders, while Water Benders look like Fire Benders, and the fighting. But when I watched, I found out that their is just very little that I like about it, the acting is horrible, the only actor who I guess was trying was Dev Patel as Zuko, at least he tried to be his cartoon counterpart, you, like pronouncing his name correctly. The only other things I like about it are the soundtrack, and the visuals.

Do you want to know what happened to the Kyoshi Warriors? Well the director thought they would not fit well into the movie, and they already did the scene, so he just removed it from the movie. In other words, they filmed the Kyoshi Warriors, but the director decided not to put it in the movie at all. Hoped this helped! :)

And last I checked my friend's little sister Amber Kroner didn't do a voice over in it. I thank Jesus every blessed day that I saw Toy Story 3 instead.

From the trailer it looked like the ocean spirit was killing Zhao but too bad it was FOUR NAMELESS WATER BENDERS! And why Aang didn't destroy the Fire Navy fleet I DON'T KNOW!

I think they called it the Arvatar because of that movie from 2009-2010. That's probably also why it's just called "The Last Airbender"
Actually, there were statues of the previous Avatars in the actual series, but Roku showed up--so yeah.
