- We just had a huge news drop for Phase 3 of Season of Discovery which will be releasing on April 4th. Today im going to be breaking down everything that we found out during the presentation and going over some brief thoughts on it all.

There's something a lot of people seem to be overlooking the possible full implications of: this phase has totally new weapon models datamined. In previous phases, it's been pretty clear that SoD didn't have any real access to an art team of its own and had to repurpose and remix existing models, effects, and icons for everything they wanted to do, like a romhack. These new models suggest that SoD has been successful enough to warrant assigning some artist time to create wholly new stuff for it.
Some people expected more "Classic+" stuff from SoD, like wholly new areas or dungeons instead of just remixes, and that always seemed pretty unlikely to me given the apparent lack of artists on the project. It's a long way between that and just some new weapon appearances, but the fact they apparently have at least some access to artists now when they never did before is one step towards that.
I doubt there's going to be a classic +, I think this is R&D for wow 2. They're going to want to consolidate the fragmented dev teams and player bases into 1. It's always been ran like a business, and that's the smartest move. The war within trilogy is likely an Armageddon event for azeroth that sets the stage for WoW 2.
Sorry to disappoint, but I think basically every single 'new' model is stuff that was already made previously, just never made it into game.
I'm pretty sure the new models are just reused old assets, or models that are reskinned, but its still very exciting as someone who loves seeing unused assets / beta models

I cannot wait to go full affliction. I’m actually excited about the possible Lake of Fire nerf / rework, it makes my respec a no-brainer.
Lake of fire was the reason I didn't play my lock. It felt so clunky to me, but was too strong to not use on fights without a lot of boss movement.

I hope Affli is good as well but I think its gonna get shafted by spell ranks (highest rank SB and corruption is level 44). Meanwhile rune spells don't care about ranks and destro gets a fresh rank of immolate at 50.

SOD is the best idea they've had since releasing classic in 2019
if you ghost through the Scholomance door after removing your gear and doing the death jump from the top. you can enter early however you'll likely be a bit squishy when facing the mobs inside.
or get killed by someone on the opposite faction (this for some reason does not hurt durability)
Could work actually good idea - Blizz still may just stop people from entering the dungeon in p3 though
would powerful seaforium charges work aswell
duel spec will likely help when guilds merge small raid teams into bigger groups for later content. since you likely won't always need 3+ tanks and/or 4+ healers for each fight.
This evaluation might apply to dual spec, but duel spec is clearly intended for PvP and nothing more!

WillE, I have to give you so much credit, dude. You are the only one of the Big 4 SoD YT'ers (CBK, ScotteJaye, and MetaGoblin being the others) who saw the cost for Dual Spec in the text the dwarf said and reported it. At least two of the others actually said to the effect of 'we can only speculate on the cost' while the screenshot of the dwarf npc and his text were onscreen. /facepalm

Rogues won't be able to pick the Scholomance door, but what about blacksmiths or engineers with arcanite skeleton keys or seaforium charges?
I have a few predictions for phase 4/5. Caverns of time and hyjal (the area, not the raid) will play some role, and there will be a completely new raid built from scratch about a parallel timeline.
Wouldn't bet any money on it, but it just feels probable.

That have said many times at 60 they are going to add the unreleased raids that were meant to be in vanilla and got scraped due to time restraints

So you grouped ZG in the "1 week lockout" mention, is it confirmed ZG will go from 3 days to 7? Im okay with that especially if the drop rate and gear stats are upgraded as well.
Intressting, if you read the text on druids new rune gore it says that lacerate have a chance to reset the cooldown on mangle. Does that mean that they will change so lacerate and mangle have different runeslots?
No, this is for the off chance there’s two bear tanks. OT can run mangle and MT can run lacer for major threat

Warrior taste for blood rune needs to allow for overpower to be used in any stance IMO.
Exactly same here. Lad is few days late and news is old at this point. But his way of articulating himself and the news is unparalleled imo, so therefore always a view from me watching the wille content from beginning to end . Big love!
I'm just happy that with SOD I don't care as much as I did in 2019, I'm making my dads 2004 night elf warrior thats going deep prot, and I'm enjoying it. Don't care about world buffs, consumables, etc. But it's also classic so it's easy regardless of what you do
Very ready for phase 3. Loved phase 1. Thought phase 2 was decent.
I wonder about this version of gladiator stance... wasn't it originally "no threat" from protection abilities like shield slam? It seems like a 10% reduction may not cut it if you're spamming devastate and shield slam procs... I mean there are a whole bunch of % damage increases to work with here.
Also, can thunder clap crit and cause deep wounds? That was the highest source of damage for glad in WoD.
wonder how the level 50 Warrior Quest will work for this, seeing that all the Warriors will need the balcony sub-bosses for the feathers

All my friends got their 25 quests ready to go and then dungeon grind all weekend. They just can’t wait to run out of things to do in phase 3
I hope phase 3 will last a bit longer than phase 2 did. But I’m really looking forward to playing phase 3!

Bruh had me guessing when I head Jual spec, thinking they added jewels.
While I am happy to finally be able to use the emerald portals.
I am kinda disappointed they did not make Maraudon the next raid or give Azshara a rework and add in the unused battleground.

God I hate that rogue tier set they previewed, those tanking things should just be in a rune. Really awful to expect to get a full 8 pc tier set to get stuff that should be baseline as a tank.
u can die and pass through the scholomance gate. you can solo die as well. the compoun has a roof. just jump over it repeatedly. using skull of impending doom also sppeds it up

You are correct that mindflay does not exist in a current SP raid spec.. So the DoT refresh rune. makes literally no sense, we gonna have to gimp our dps if we want to use it.
So it will be a niche rune.

They need to have the sod team focus only sod and not any of the other projects. They seem to be doing great things and if they could dedicate all their time to sod imagine the stuff they could do.

Loyal beta will no longer boost AP, so will not give crazy spell power. But double rockbiter might.
I think to balance mental dexterity, the buff should last only 15 seconds and only apply when you get a windfury attack. Or better yet, a flame tongue attack. Rockbiter is dumb imo
I agree, as with the new weps and lava lash changes they want to push for windfury + flametongue, as well with the gut to loyal beta AP boost. The only way mental dex would be broken is if you abuse it as ele or resto like Willie said, and to counter that you gave maybe the best change to the rune. 15sec duration and only on WF proc so Encha will never have a downtime but you cant do the cheesee ele play.
haven't seen anything about loyal beta no longer boosting ap? if that's the case I will be so annoyed.. all my classes gets nerfed first sp and now shaman

a lot of ppl like this lol. 1h and shield playstyle (a classic rpg archetype) has never been viable in vanilla... why add more content for the same playstyle. makes no sense
I mean its definitely flavor and I'd play it so long as it ends up being viable. It probably won't be as good in pve though.
I suspect we will see a spell reflect rune in which case you'll want a shield ready to go.

In the wow official p3 announcement the devs say dual spec is not the only thing that npc will offer to train

I gotta say, I'm not huge on the Mage runes. Same with paladin. I wish they'd give paladins as much love as they give shamans. I've been feeling really mixed on Paladin besides prot. I keep bouncing between paladin and rogue this phase especially since I want to tank, and I've been mixed on Rogue tank.
Oof that worries me a bit. Pally is my next ally toon. I’m glad they added the sheath of light!
They HAVE to give warriors an armor to attack power conversion or it'll be the worst tank for 3 phases in a row AND glad stance will be a useless meme

I’ve found plenty of friendly guilds. They’ve helped some with putting groups together for leveling dungeons.

problem with sod now its hoenstly TOO fast to level, and making a character now there noone running dungeons as everyones max. Yeah I could just quest ezpzs but I liked doing dungeons as I went before

Shadow priest is dead on arrival yet again. SoD team has no idea how to help the spec.
All they need is Vampiric Touch and a way to "detonate" or spread their DoTs to 5-6 nearby targets. That or a rune for Mind Flay that 1) boosts its damage significantly, maybe an increase per DoT on the target, and 2) makes it hit any target that has SW:P / Void Plague / Vamp Touch on it. Pretty simple I'd say.
Yeah and pvp is impossible vs shadow priest currently...

the only thing I NEED is smite priest, shockadin and shaman tank became a reality, PLS Blizzard let me DPS as a holy priest instead of making me an edgy shadow priest
They blew it, man... I was so hyped during phase one when they added new and wacky runes that we'd never really seen before. Now they're just picking talents from other expansions and slapping the word "rune" on it. Give ferals some kind of crazy charge attack that stuns and causes all their attacks to apply a bleed. Give holy priests a rune where if an enemy attacks the target you shielded, they go mad and attack their allies for 3 seconds. Do something original.
My guild already died off because all the phase two runes were just talents from other versions.
This SoD is interesting but they keep nerfing and buffing things to make it easy for peopleto clear content. This next phase bet we see raid bosses nerfed after first few groups fail it . Duo spec would be nice .
Literally nothing but some item adjustments that should have been done 15 years ago and 1 simple raid released with all in house assets.
