What other new bits of lore in Season of Discovery would you want me to cover next?
Amazing video, didnt know about the agtens
Dude the first sentence itself made it clear this is an April fool's joke..
'new content '?
Hahahahahah
@@Geraldo_Rivian wdym? everything he listed in the video is actually in the game xd
You forgot about ‘C’ from the rogue quests.
ALL OF THEM, especcialy when goblins send you to do a quest to kill random friendly ppl for their profit!
To be fair, I would defend my land against those old dwarf models too.
Especially the the model with the face…you know the face.
lmfao
@@VanAlexilmao! “You know the face” 😂 dammit I do! 🤣 it’s those fkn teeth!
To be fair…
and gnomes! they are yucky;)
Bro it’s the little things that separate you from the other lore content creators. The subtle playing of “The Box” is the perfect example 😂😂
E er
"Whats in The Box?!"
E er.

I agreed with Illari just because I cheesed the quest at a low level and had no chance to beat her in a fight at all
If you got any Range Spells you can kite her around the Fence there. :)
i played tauren hunter but i remember that i didnt fight her to get the key, i didnt read the text though
@@hakun0695I think she likes you as a Tauren because they also respect nature. That’s pretty sick.
Went in as Meta form on lock main a few days back since I fell behind.
Second toon did it just last night, caster druid, went in at 32 and then realized what I was saying to her LOL.
@@zorinzorinzorin5243 Maybe we're just such pacifists we'd do anything to avoid conflict, even agree with a crazed murderer
It’s paladin specific, but there also been TWO instances now of former paladins trying to convince players and the Paladins of stormwind to convert to shadow magic: Ada Gelhart in p1 (seal of martyr rune) and Aeonus in p2 (sheath of light rune)
Aeonus will also permanently be added in the SW cathedral after finishing his chain, and talks about a missing “friend” that we’ll probably look for in p3
COINCIDENTALLY, Aeonus is also the name of the last boss of Black Morass in TBC, a member of the infinite Dragonflight, so it could be ANOTHER time traveling character in SoD
P3 SPOILERS: We meet Aeonus's friend who apparently is a now an active death knight for the Scourge and was killed when Arthas fought and killed Uther in WC3. He talks about an upcoming threat to the world due to the mysterious void orbs youve been collecting during P1 and P2 that he feels that needs to be stopped even though during this time the death knights are still bound by the Lich King. Somehow he managed to break free and tasks the player paladin to gather materials for a ritual but winds up trying to sacrifice you as the last ingredient but Aeonas intervenes and kills his friend.
@@atelierbagur3831 A little extra info on Aeonus friend: His name is Gregory and his title is Truthbearer. This NPC is in fact Sage Truthbearer, a paladin who can be found in WC3s undead campaign. The mission is called "Digging up the Dead". The in-game files refer to him as "Gregory Edmunson".
@@vertigo7082 holy shit so the npc is straight up a WC3 guy? Thats pretty cool. Im really loving how SoD is giving new story bits into the old world that still makes sense
@@atelierbagur3831 That is the conclusion. I love it as well. SoD is great when it comes to these small story additions.
4:28 "How did he manage travel back in time?"
Bronze Dragons: "Am I a joke to you?"
Aren’t the secret agents an X-Files reference? Two secret agents, a man and a woman, who are traveling around the world and leaving cryptic clues?
Why is Scully labelled a Beast though? Is it suppose to be a reference she's a Worgen or something?
Platinum even used music from X-Files xD
theres more than two secret agents shown in the video though
The quest lore is very fitting for "vanilla." Actually surprised they didn't botch it.
Well vanilla was so intriguing because it was filled with little mysteries and build up to events that hadn't been written yet. It's when they try to give answers or write those events that it all goes to hell. It happened immediately with Burning Crusade and excepting the Lich King conclusion being alright, pretty much just got worse the less hype-building material they had to pillage from Classic and the RTS games. Don't worry, I'm sure War Within will do its best to squander all sense of intrigue and suspense built up by Season of Discovery as fast as possible. We're fighting a knife with a generic NE model they needed 2 MASSIVE plotholes to bring into existence, after all.
That elf raises a great question as I always wonder why the FUCK the night elves joined the Alliance
I wanted a novel covering WarCraft III to WoW Classic for a while now to cover both Varian Wrynns disappearence AND this particular event.
@@JonathanLundkvist Varian's disappearance was pretty much already explained thanks to one major culprit... Onyxia.
They could fix it having the NE or Tyrande being distrustful of humans and dwarves but they had no other choice like the same way Orcs and taurens were with the undead or Gimli and Legolas
Because the choice was lose to the horde with the orcs on their doorstep or have the alliance there to discourage them
there’s a whole battleground because of it, Warsong Gulch. the Horde were non-stop continuing their logging advances in Ashenvale, so the night elves joined the Alliance for reinforcement.
with boarton shadetotem i think it wouldve been funny if they JUST FOR THIS SPECIFIC REASON gave him a retail tauren modell to further drive home the fact that he is from the future
Only if the beginning of the quest dialogue reads:
"You stand in awe of this Tauren's graphical fidelity. His texture resolution, poly-count, and animation rig must be at least a decade ahead of yours. Is he some sort of god, or did he receive the blessing of one? Perhaps he has spent his life in pursuit of the total perfection and unity of body, mind, and soul, and this is the result. Whatever the case, you push back the urge to bow down in worship, hearing what he has to say."
0:12 woah you can't just leak my rogue trainer like that
0:20 About Illari Duskfeather, that brought me an interesting memory. I joined WoW in March 2004 with patch 0.5.6, although by that time just had a forum account, still didn't have a key to play the beta. The most heated topics at that time were about why the Forsaken and the Kaldorei were joining the Horde and the Alliance, respectively, and some people were furious about how Blizzard was destroying the lore. Considering that the sleeping bag is also a remnant of the removed survivalism profession (campfires, torches and tents), I'd not be surprised if they went through some archive of the old forums to gather ideas for SoD.
11:43 is also a clue to the War Within next Retail Addon where the people of Arathi are hiding unterground. And the loyalty to the eagle and Fist aka stromgarde is located in the arathi highlands and the next note mentions that he has to go back underground.
if this is an april fools day joke im going to be so mad
😅
It is...
0:00 new content? Lol
Do you not have phones?
@@Geraldo_Rivian oh you are so mad cos you dont have infinite new content in an MMO
@@SapoQLxdBlizzard fanboy spoted
Good news, Ilari! In the future, you don't have to worry about the humans showing up to Teldrassil with swords and torches.
That'd be redundant.
I wish there was a forsaken that kills and betrays the horde during the times of vanilla wow during Season of Discovery. Since the Alliance is having Pro only Night Elves same can be said with the Forsaken being their own thing.
Gunther Arcanus
The guy in Cata that took over Shadowfang Keep and killed Sylvanas in Gilneas
Grand Apothecary Putress
Can’t most dragon’s turn into humanoid forms Or is it just the Aspects and their children? Maybe all (or most) of these shadowy figures are part of the Infinite Dragonflight and they figured out they could alter history better if they didn’t try to walk up to us looking like mobs to kill lol. My bet is they’re going to do some event that ties the current different versions of wow together. That’d be sick.
This lore is gonna get me reconnected with wow. I like how the devs are tying two stories together from two time periods.
There is also cats near all the localization you visit during the sleeping bag questline.
Oh, so it's more of a Matrix reference than Men in Black?
@@mokarokas-1727 well played, first i've seen this
honestly that guess at the end is not entirely implausible...
You know what’s hilarious, when you mention the box and the song “the box” plays so low in the background, what a sick video
Boarton Shadetotem is cool. I like how they added him in as a quasi reference to future events as well as the quest you did in DF when it sent you to your starting zone as a joke. Maybe he got sent there and due to the legendary status of a Tauren rogue, slipped past Andantenormu.
They could have just made Boarton retroactively living in Thunder Bluff, they didn't need to make it hoaky with time travel. (Old God character, go ahead and do whatever.)
@@jiado6893 or they could have made him an outcast tauren that know rouge skill but is not accepted within his culture in classic only in the future DF where that changed instead of this time travel.
@@Dayz3O6 I totally understand Tauren Rogues existing in the lore, but I'm disappointed that Rogues are just available for everyone now. Cutting them off from the the two races that are hugest and more honor bound made sense. And made the class feel slightly more special.
As a non-SoD player, but nonetheless appreciator, this overview of what is new is great!
0:19 anyone else remember that old vine "Judas! Noooo!" When he said that?
Obligatory reminder at the mention of Men in black that we KINDA already have that with Area 52
Blizz Lore Writer: So how do we handle this loose ends?
Group: Well, there's good ol time travel.......
Lol ya... time travel is really hard to story tho, its always so messy.
You are like my favorite content creator, the lore, the joy and pure genuine interest... they are told like a campfire story's shrouded in mystery and told bybthe village elder.
Please keep it up
I was anticipating you'd be making a video like this. love to see it! :D
The end of this one is a perfect example of why I love your channel man. Good to see you back at it
man Platinum im always happy u uploaded something i dont play wow myself anymore but your lore telling is insane keep it up :D !
11:42 not many people got the reference here. That line is from the intro to the Prodigy album “Music for the Jilted Generation.” It’s track 1.
We love you Platinum WoW! Always good to hear your voice! Pure nostalgia
I'm so glad somebody finally made a video consolidating and showing all of the lore implications of season of Discovery.
I always thought that if Blizz wanted to create new lore and events for Classic+ they would do something like "this is an alternate universe", to answer the inevitable question of "so, what is all of this about? Is this story canon or subsitute or what?"
Bruh that roddy rich play at 5:01 😂😂😂
The Sleeping Bag item really looks like it's a copy from the Sleeping Tent item from the Turtle WoW private server. I wonder if players can achieve a sleeping bag tower
It has no collision mesh like the tents do
@@TrolladinPlays :(
Your creativity is out of this world
If I read the quest text, then what would you do? No, Sir! I ignore quest texts, so I have a Platinum WoW video to look forward to.
Illari Duskfeather was based, we need more inner conflict like this in the Alliance. We see the Horde bickering all the time but the Alliance is always treated as holding hands and singing kumbaya.
Pretty cool. There's a lot I dislike about SoD, but I did always feel that the new quest texts seemed to mostly fit.
Hope to see you cover the 20 minute swim Paladins have to do to get their Sheathe of Light rune
Great stuff I have no idea if any of it is true but the video was enjoyable as always!
Holy crap I didn’t know they added all this in. This is awesome.
hey so i like your theory at the end. i saw one once and thought of something similar and guess what thermaplugg might have been working on to stop them, cuz you know hes the good guy. THE CHAD GLASSES
These videos always make me happy to watch and enjoy
must remember that ashbringer was made the same way 4:55
These machinima's you make are AMAZING🤩🤩🤩!? I hope you cover the Old Gods (basically the main 4 Gods) in a lore video someday🤩
I had no idea about the secret agents!
Thanks for this dude, good fun video.
8:55 bit unfortunate to turn the massacre of Sven Yorgen's family into barely a footnote. Jitters' written account of the events is absolutely haunting. Tying in this loose end from 20 years ago is a great thing they did in SoD and needed more coverage.
This was great, thank you Platinum
Yup, I did all that. Had my portion of fun. 🙂
I enjoyed watching your video, Platinum. Thanks!
The MIB are actually a really neat addition, wish Blizzard would've added them into the game since actual vanilla and just kept adding them across all expansions without ever explaining them, would've been really funny.
Maybe that's why Thermaplug drops those glasses!
Oh wow I never thought about that
lol good end. Fits April first for sure.
Man, I have been out of this game for 3 years, but i feel the draw pulling me back with videos like this, season of discovery sounds amazing, hope people enjoy it.
I was like u after phase 1 I woulda suggest joining the fun it doesn’t take long to catch up aside from the rep grinds which are things u can get in time.
Just finished the sleeping bag quest chain yesterday in preparation of p3
All the secret agents are either near or overlook some form of Dwarven lore. Is it possible they are the hinting at the secret rune that was teased at Blizzcon? Secret Agents and Secret Rune. There's also a possibility that it's just a nod to the Earthen and Arathi that are living underground since they seem to follow a Dwarf who keeps going near underground Dwarven locations in game or that contain a ton of Dwarven lore: Barrens near Bael Modan, Thoradin's Wall near Dun Garok, Badlands infront of Uldaman, and Swamp of Sorrows looking at Sunken Temple (ton of dwarf quests and questlines there), with all these locations going underground in some manner. Maybe they are here for other stuff but these are my two strongest leads. What do yall think?
Edit: Their words upon leaving "We've got friends" gives me more indication to believe it's the latter not the former of the above theories.
Tauren rogues where always there... we just couldnt see them till classic plus ;)
10:44 at the crossroads there's also strange notes to be found
6:51
What's the music used here?
You can almost hear someone at Blizzard yell "THE MEN IN BLACK - WRITE THAT DOWN, WRITE THAT DOWN!"
I am more certain that the agents are in fact Invaders from Tamriel
5:01 anyone else catch the faint "ee er" after he said the box. I thought of the song as soon as he said it and then the sound played.
Super fun, thanks man!
He didn't time travel, he was always there, hiding in the shadows
[Before Watching] "i am gonna love this april 1st video"
There's something magical about watching an april fools video 2 weeks afterit released without you knowing it was released on april fools day.
Anyone else noticed how there are un attackable cats around all the areas for the sleeping bag quest?
Amazing video!
Have you got any Lore about the "Onslaught " In Ice Crown Northrend?
I was recently exploring around And found a harbor owned by that group, was wondering if they have any significant lore
Iirc they were featured in the Scarlet Crusade video he did.
Scarlet Onslaught? Yes, they are part of Scarlet Crusade. Related quests are on a nearby cliffwall on the main shore - there will be a small balcony with some DKs and flight path. There is a small "^" mark on the map to find it.
Also same guys are in the Dragonblight, somewhere on the southern shore - there will be a castle with village, with same architecture. Related quests are somewhere in Dragonblight, I don't remember exactly where.
Well in case The MiB are going to clear our mind with their little light thingy, thank god i have my Radiant Ray Reflectors from Thermaplugg.
Any news about Ada Gelhardt and Cult of the Damned? Still hope for DK route for Paladins at level 60
interesting.. and the theory at the end?!
Clearly accurate
I really enjoyed the continuation of the warlock's meta rune storyline from phase 1 in phase 2 with the warlock that appears out the portal and the reveal at the end in desolace i thought it was really cool
But It ain't over just yet cs we are gonna repair that staff
@@Asianthewock yeah the one that we were summoning I wonder if it's gonna be any good
I know everyone is about the Shadowy Figure being Zalatath, buuuuuut what if it is Azshara? She does have immense void powers at this time and would disguise herself as an elf...
we didn’t know at the time, but Illari is actually wearing the new lvl 50 pvp set from the warden faction.
Yo real talk, do those secret agents exist
Hahaha who heard the sound effect for the box? XD Nice touch Plat haha
2:50 Not only as a nightelf but also as a tauren. Just did it yesterday with my Tauren shaman. I think only Tauren shaman and druid or tauren as general are friendly to her as we Yungol (later evolved to Tauren) are from kalimdor as well, from the south of azeroth then on kalimdor and we fought side by side back in the days at the war of the ancients.
I mean, there's a chance the one you meet in the Classic time-line isn't a corporeal being and just...she took the ghostly shape of an elf and by chance ends up in the body of an elf later down the line?
“Simply called… The Box”
*ee oo*
There is also Tauren Paladin in Hillsbrad Foothills
Hold on he's cooking with the last one
As a citizen of a country member of the U.E. i can relate a LOT to Illari.
You now when classic came out I joked about timelines converging. Especially with BFD being the first dungeon quackery, a wow where the players lose and both meet up at level 60 with a level squish thanks to a multidimensional being. And seeing how late to the party blizzard is we could still be on track now that everyone is tired of multiverses. 😀
Why and how can Horde help retrieve the Dalaran artifacts? They've got loads of quests where they must kill forces of Dalaran and are essentially at war with them at this moment...
After the update today, there's a new item that drops in Gnomer and leads to a quest with Ziri (the vendor for the crafting recipes). In the quest text, she makes some claims that don't line up with previous quests. Perhaps she was being impersonated...
That's 13 minutes I won't get back.
The sassy void elf will be the next Sylvanas mark my words.
I call it now, last phase Illari will be raid boss in new raid.
Damn Illari still got that Troll Racism in 'er.
That MIB idea is wild, but.... plausible?
I’ve suspected time travel right from the off, this whole thing reminds me of the temporal Cold War in Star Trek Enterprise. In this, “time conflict” some factions could only communicate through time, but this was enough to have an influence as they could teach people things from the future, aka, runes in this instance. Others had the ability to actually travel through time, among these were a type of police force known as the temporal agents. One of whom would later go on to recruit Captain Archer and his crew after time travelling aliens targeted Earth in the 20’th century and helped Hitler conquer the world.
I tought the Secret Agents could be a easter of Fringe the tv-series and the watchers.
I keep watching this video and don't know what happened. I just see end credits.
ahahahah holy shit i love the secret dudes just being in the middle of nowhere, just nice to see
HEAR ME OUT: Garosh will come back and we make him to be friendly - He will help us for a while, but in the end he goes mad and do some crazy shit again
Why and how?
I would fucking looooove this. may as well make him expose Jaina’s true dreadlord form while we’re at it!!!!! !
@@hotlikesauce and Anduin is Arthas son and WOW will be back
