    I know this is an older video but as someone new to the Vision Jet in MSFS it’s fascinating and enjoyable to see your real life flights. Especially so in such amazing and exciting conditions!

    Congrats for that amazing experience, love your video. Just for learning: shouldn't be better clean flaps right after take off? How many pax-load could you carry on ISA conditions in Aspen? happy flights, Sir!

    • @riscfuture
      @riscfuture  2 года назад +3

      Flaps stay down until 115 knots. a Vx takeoff is done at Vx, ~90 knots. The performance charts for a Vx takeoff are given with the flaps down. You can take max payload at Aspen on an ISA day. You'd only have to start reducing weight above 30°C.

    Just a point of clarification. You don’t need to be a CFI/MEI to sign off someone’s SOE. You just need to be appropriately type rated and of course free of a SOE yourself.

      61.64(g) does say that, however, insurance requirements go above and beyond the FARs, and typically require a CFI who meets the pilot's open pilot warranty (in my case, 2000TT, 200 turbine, and 150 in type).

    I was going to ask what sim you were using. Awesome graphics. Then... Uh... Never mind.
    I DO like it when you get all prefessorial on us. Don't give up the X-Plane videos please.
    Cheers.

      Nope, it's standard in the G1 Vision Jet.

      SOE and the sim were really worthwhile. Doing dozens of CAPS pulls in different situations was invaluable training.

    Thought this thing practically flew itself..Why wouldn't there be a fail safe to insure that the aircraft wouldn't "happily fly you into a mountain"?

    • @riscfuture
      @riscfuture  Год назад

      Only military jets have auto-GCAS currently, as far as I know. The fail-safe is the pilot.

    Can you explain the concept of the limit on a vx speed?

    • @riscfuture

      It’s a limit on takeoff thrust, not Vx speed,

    Your terrain color coding is screwy...why all red all the time? If you want mountain practice depart Reno on 16L...the tower wants an immediate left turn on VFR departures to avoid commercials. The first challenges is to fly AROUND the 5k foot "hill" at the end of the runway then climb 1200fpm or more to clear the mountains to the East of the city. You will still only be 500feet above terrain as you fly over the ridges.

    • @riscfuture
      @riscfuture  3 года назад +1

      It’s all red because I’m within 100 feet of terrain. That’s how the TAWS display works.

      Oh, I see what you mean now. It doesn’t look like that in real life. Just the angle of the video I think.

      @@riscfuture Dont know that s up to you! I am just stating the facts and it looks like you agree with me. but for the same money a.second hand Citation maybe. Hot High full load the SF50 would not pull the socks off a cat. It looks cool and is new with all the bling I guess. I I did say it was Nice.! Good luck and stay safe.

      @@herobo123456 You’re definitely right that it is up to me :) Maybe you could get a used Citation for the same price I paid for my used VisionJet, but that Citation would be about 10-20 years older, meaning it would have a lot less technological capability. And, more importantly, purchase price is not nearly as important is cost to own. A CJ would run you on the order of $5000-$10,000 per flight compared to the VJ’s $500-$1500. And finally: Hot, high, full load, no aircraft is going to perform well. If it did, all that would mean is the engineers over-designed the engine and strapped a V12 to a golf cart.

      @@herobo123456 You will eventually find out that there is no such thing a perfect plane. It always is a trade-off. Just stating some pros or just stating cons is easy but useless. Apart from the bad economy of faster airplanes you also have the problem of takeoff distances as well which really can be a show stopper.
      There are just so many things aircraft can potentially do - but you can only tick half of the boxes no matter what you choose.
