I was holding my guinea pig while watching tv and I always notice that she completely lays down me which I find adorable. then out of nowhere she stares at me and licks my nose😄. I couldn't stop blushing after that😋😋. it was so cute!!!
she also has a habit of falling asleep on her tree trunk hidie. I was watching her and I guess she was so relaxed that she was slowly sliding off of it. I had to get up quickly to wake her up so she wouldn't fall😂
Sakura 'Goddess of light' Haruno I do the same with my piggie Tommy and watch Coronation Street or Family Guy, sometimes he falls asleep and kicks occasionally in a dream or does a wee!
This was very helpful. I've been keeping my daughter's guinea pig this weekend so I was worried that he would be stressed because we've never met. According to this, he's happy.
One of my piggies died this week, we only had him for about a month but I know now that he was happy with us during his time. He loved cuddling and resting on my lap :)
I have two females. My oldest piggy has started yawning and pop out her feet when she laying down after a couple of weeks. Even closing her eyes when sleeping :D She has always made happy sounds, but it just give something extra when you see it, too :) My young piggy does popcorning at floor time and at given new hay, so I think she saying "Yay!"
My 3 piggy's just moved into their new c&c cage. Boy is it noisy at my place and I love it! My youngest one squeal's a lot when it is time for veggies and she also squeak's when we are giving the others treats and she thinks she is going to miss out. Getting them was the best thing my husband and I could have ever done. Thanks to you and your channel we had all the information we needed to get them and take very good care of them! Thank you so much!!
tonight we sore it for first time them pop corning it's so funny watching them and listen to them talking. it's great watching ur videos as we are learning as we only had them for 2days now.
I love that grey and white abby! what a cutie! i love it when my guy lets out a high pitch squeek when he popcorns extra hard. like he cant even help himself!
You give really good advice. I have had my Guinea pig for over a year and she was not that happy. Then i found you and listened to your advice and now she loves me thank you so so much.
As my guinea pigs are quite shy, due to where they came from, I thought they probably aren't relaxed, but three years later and watching this video, I'm happy to say they tick all these boxes! X
@Lauren Wilson lol yeah. I have four and they all like being petted on their nose and 2 likes the ears. I have another one, she likes being petted on her chin-
I've had my guinea pig for just a week and she's yawned and stretched while on me, popcorned, made noises, showed her feet and greets me. I'm so happy she's happy with me
My guinea pig is single so doesn't make that much talking sounds but he used to be with a pal who passed on before we inherited the pig. When he passes on too, I want 2 gunea pigs so they don't get lonely and can have more fun together. Too much work for 5 like you but more pugs more cuteness!
My Guenia Pig did her first popcorn today! We have had her for 4 days now and she seems very comfortable and happy. We are getting her sister in 3 days since we couldn't get them at the same time. Your videos have helped me learn a lot about Guinea Pigsso thanks!
RiFt FaDe 3 days? That is still too early. Let them settle in, they are probably very scared right now and might not do things you see her guinea pigs do.
My little pig always just lies down anywhere it's so cute. And the best part is that most of the time he'll fall asleep outside of his best friend's hidey 😍
Gosh! I have two little piggies (Twix, about 6 months old.) (Carmel, about 5 months) Your piggies must have it MADE with SUCH A GREAT owner!!! My piggies only do a few of these signs. Keep up the GREAT work! ( I am actually 9 and a girl...) ( I am on my dad's phone.) ( I have no idea why I randomly put that there but, PLEASE respond!) Like so she can see...
Commenting on every step they make is what my piggy Midnight does! No matter wherever she goesm every little step she makes she needs to make a little sound.
Little Adventures my ginuea pig Dosent yawn infront me how do I get her trust bc I got her along time ago and I don't think she likes us she runs hides Dosent like it when pick her up so.. what do I do?
Oh, I just love happy piggies! When our sow lost her life-long cagemate a little over a year ago, she was very lonely and depressed. Not hardly a squeak or a whistle. We found her a young sow and she sprung right back. But, turns out she was pregnant. We now have 3 sows and 2 boars to love. The three kids, mom, and grandma!
I let one of my old guinea pigs sleep in my turtleneck in a box while I was cleaning his cage out. Came back, lifted the sleeves and heard grumpy squeaks from within. Turned out he was _so relaxed in it that he didn't want to be bothered!_
My little boys always run to greet me when I approach their pen. I'm so happy to learn it's because they like and trust me. Given the generally cautious nature of guinea pigs I take it as a great honour that I'm trusted by them. Pen cleaning time always involves me climbing in to their "house" and they run around and then come help. Every night at carrot time they popcorn and do mad laps all around the pen. They're both SO sweet.
Angry guinea pigs be like: YOU MAKIN' ME ANGRY I WILL SCRATCH Y'ALL AND YOUR FRIENDS >:c Friendly guinea pigs be like: Yay! Food! I'm gonna jump everywhere! :D :D
The happy piggy sound is my favorite sound that guinea pigs make! I love it when I see my pigs trot around during floortime, they make a little sound for every step they take!
Thank you for making this video. My guinea pig just died... Looking back, she did have some of these traits. She sometimes made those sounds by herself, ran towards me to look for food, and was often very relaxed. Thank you for telling me through this video that she was already happy. I always thought that she was bored. Sometime before, she started not to eat and became very sad. I thought it was because she was too bored and tired of eating the same things, but then she actually got a thing stuck in her bladder. Only if I listened to my gf and brought my guinea pig to the doctor earlier, she might’ve been cured...
I’m pretty sure I’m one of those people that are extremely lucky and got pretty tame pigs. I had them for 3 weeks and they’re already comfortable sniffing at my face , popcorning, eating food from my hand, and coming out when I’m in the room.
I’ve only had my Guinea pigs a week, but the last two days they have been popcorning like crazy and coming to me for their food and taking it out of my hand. I’m super excited by these developments as my piggies mean the world to me, at 49 years of age for my birthday my husband got me my little trio and I couldn’t be happier....the only problem I may have in the future is that they’re all boars and I’ve been told that could lead to problems when they’re older... but fingers crossed it’ll all be ok xx I love watching your little ones your videos are so informative 💋❤️
How long have you had them? Mine took a while to adjust to its new life. I just say whistle at it and give it so time to adjust, and also feed them veggies out of your hand.
Kidfriday AJPW wow my guinea pig does that to I even thought about taking her back because I have two of them and the one I recently got is super scared every time I come in the room even if I’m not playing with her I can walk pass the cage going somewhere else and she will run away lol but she’s opening up more since I took her out the cage more often
Me and my roommate had bought 2 Guinea Pigs today for him and his fiancé’s anniversary. It was mainly going to be just 1, but the guy at PetSmart said that they are very social animals and like alot of attention. So we ended up getting both that we’re in the same cage. Cannot wait till they are used to and feel comfy in their new home ^-^. We were holding them before I found this video, and they both seemed very comfy on my lap.
Aspen wood shavings I would say by the look of it. Never use pine (cheap) shavings. The ammonia in their urine can combine with naturally occurring oils to form by products unsafe for piggies
1 on my males are pretty timid but he seems super comfortable now and i can even pick him up without him running and i’m so glad he almost fully trusts me
What about purring? Mine used to do that when happy and when you petted it. Kind of like a catpurring. Super cute. Would also sometimes do it on its own, but usually when I was petting it. Then it also used to lick me on my neck. xD
Not talking about the OINK OINK. That is them irritated or wanting food etc... They have a purr that is when they feel good. Get food, new hay etc... They then shake and purr around, you can tell they are happy or ours where when they did that. :) They got a lot more cuddly etc. They also did when you petted them sometimes.
There are two different purrs that I've noticed, one positive, one a bit more negative. At least, that's what it seems like with my piggies. When I have one in my lap and I pet her and she purrs, she then lies down and stretches out and yawns and relaxes. But there's one that's super similar that basically means "back off" more or less, whether it's directed at the human or directed at a guinea pig in a territorial way. Both purrs are at different pitches for each of my piggies, so you kind of have to figure out which is which yourself. (I'm not a guinea pig expert, this is just my experience)
Omg this is a HUGE breakthrough to me because I've always thought my piggys weren't happy but my guinea pigs do all of these things . Thx so much for making this vid 😊❤️
If you don't know just don't give . In case it's dangerous for him. And yes you can give apple but with no skin. Because it can cause problem on lips ( something in the skin may be bad for few piggy )
I give my pigs apples with skin on (without core and seeds) once every month or every few weeks. They have been ok. We used to give my past previous pigs apples and they lived a long time.
Lighting Gaming they dont have to, but if they are with a friend or a group it generally means they are happier, some guinea pigs, very rare, like to be alone, if you only have one it is perfectly fine
Their enclosure is so nice!! My guinea pigs have grown pretty big so I felt bad that I didn't have much room for them, but seeing as they've done all of these signs I hope that means they're content 😋
I got my piggies 5 days ago and both of them where popcorning yesterday, both let me handfeed them, they eat when I'm around and they don't away anymore 😊
I have just one guinea pig, hes my very first one, and i always regret not knowing more before i got him and not getting two so that he can have a friend when im not around. But it makes me feel really good that he does a lot of these things. :) its good to know hes happy with just me.
their vocalizations tell you a LOT. they have a ton of different ones.. (i think i read something like 20 or 30). so if you get to know a bunch of those, you can tell pretty well how they're feeling. that's one reason i love guinea pigs so much; they're very vocal. i had a special one named rosie when i was young and she was great. she loved being petted. as soon as you started petting her she would plop down with her leg to the side and purr. she would lay on your chest if you were lying down. she LOVED exploring everywhere.. we would sometimes make little mazes out of books for her to run around in and she seemed to love it. she also would get really happy and excited whenever we changed the bedding in her cage. she would purr and popcorn just from that hah
I recently adopted a baby guinea pig and her name is Smore. I bought her a little hut made of rope and she always makes a soft sound whenever she goes inside
You have no idea how happy this video made me. I often fear that my cavys aren't happy or something, but as they do almost everything on this list (just not really the popcorning, but they're a bit older), it really puts those fears to rest. One of my piggies (affectionally called "squeeky") even fell asleep on my lap once! They always sleep in a pile of hay, wake up, notice they are surrounded by hay, eat hay, and fall back asleep in the hay xD. They're so cute! I'm thinking of buying a singular male and breeding them (not extensively, just...now and then) :D
My older guinea pig shows the majority of these signs while the newer younger one who I bought a couple of days ago is beginning to trust me and shows a couple of these signs exploring and making the sounds while exploring and running up to me when me or my brother walk in:)
My older guinea pig used to live alone for a year and he became so attached to me that he hides on my shoulder when he feels danger) He lay down there and starts purring the best sign ever
Huh, I haven't kept a guinea pig in over 20 years but I remember that my little pigs always did these things, particularly two of the babies I bred. The mother was very patient with me, allowing me to touch and handle her babies after about three days of alone time with them, then allowing me to pick them up within a few more days. Those brothers loved to bury under my jumper, then find a warm and quiet spot either by my waist or under my armpit where they'd fall asleep. They were always happy to see me and would run over to the closest point of the cage, hutch or large run area whenever I went to see them. They knew I was either taking them out to run in the enclosure on the grass in the morning, or taking them safely back to their protected hutch at night. And I usually came with treats. They were good little pigs, those babies.
My big girl sleeps where ever she wants and when she wants. xD She has such deep sleep, I have to make a concious effort to wake her up by poking her gently. She's by far the most chilled out guinea pig I'ver ever seen. Normal noises or people walking past her cage, doing stuff in their room, that's all no problem for her. She will either sleep or be seen munching on some hay. Sometimes when the male tries to court her, she acts as if she's telling him: "Dude, you're castrated, you know that? I've got some hay to munch on." She's 100% releaxed 8 days a week.
I just got a 3 month old guinea the other day his name is Chacco. I followed your tips a lot. And he seems to be so content. He loves me rubbing his belly he's actually asleep on my chest right now lol. He chirps a lot and he even has a favorite blanket. He licks me a lot. When I saw him at the pet store I new I had to have him. And we kind of bonded right there at the store. I know this is strange but I love all animals and I make sure they know it. So before I want to hold him I'll open his cage and talk to Chacco and tell him I love him and how cute he is. And he usually walks up and let's me pick him up. And I've gotten him to eat out of my hand. In such a short time. It hasn't been a week yet and he's just the happiest and sweetest little thing 💖💖
Thanks for the good information again! Brought me a fair amount of confidence that I'm doing the right things! Had no idea about piggies but someone I knew had a problem piggy that wouldnt get along with her other ones and couldn't find a home for him. Because I only have one, I've always worried about how much I socialize with him, if hes getting enough company and if hes really happy! I had to do all the research on how to care for him after the fact because he was an unexpected surprise. Although him and my dog love hanging out in the room together when I'm at work so I think that helps (dog on bed and up on a high shelf in a roofed cage just in case) Went through the process of getting him larger and larger cages, ended up settling on a huge rabbit cage because I wasnt finding the ones for guinea pigs having enough room and I would end up making extensions for him. He definately greets me when he hears me stir in the morning or anytime I walk into a room, he knows my footsteps compared to someone else. Sleeps whenever the heck he wants, house or not, back legs stretched out and eyes closed. Stretches out, yawns and falls asleep whenever its lap/cuddle time and never squirms unless hes gotta pee and he virtually never hides. Brings me some joy to know hes happy and I'm doing him some justice despite the situation he was handed! I had to move back in with my mum after a bad break up and she absolutely fell in love with him, I think she visits with him a lot too when I'm not around because hes starting to respond to her the same way he does with me. She says he still doesnt come when she calls like he does for me though, she usually needs to bring him a gift first lol (bugger knows what hes doing)
I have a female piggy, and she sings and dances. She also purrs with her favorite backscratch. When she wants it, she come up to me, lays down completely flat with all four paws stretched out, usually with a nice big yawn. So, I'll scratch her back for about 15 minutes.
Hello! Bandit and Splodge here! We make our Mummy laugh every day after she cleans our house and makes sure our beds and hay box are clean, dry and tidy. We stretch out and have long snoozes on her lap, and then, when we go back home, we go zooming around, chasing each other and popcorning until it is a TOTAL mess! Whoops!!
One of my "babies" loves when i kiss his cheek and usually closes his eyes so he can flatten out and relax. He also gives me licks like crazy after I have been petting his favorite zones.
This was such a great video idea! I had wondered about the chatting they do as they walk around as my tiny little Acorn is talking away to herself allllll the time! I'm glad it means that she is happy.
Thanks sooooo much for posting this my guinea pig always makes that strange snuffly noise you mentioned and I thought she was angry or poorly but it is completely the same as yours you have totally put my mind at rest thanks soooooo much .xx
I was holding my guinea pig while watching tv and I always notice that she completely lays down me which I find adorable. then out of nowhere she stares at me and licks my nose😄. I couldn't stop blushing after that😋😋. it was so cute!!!

My guinea pig sometimes yawns but I don't really watch him wake up lol, but he is ALWAYS popcorning he's got so much energy.

Little Adventures What type of bedding do you use for your piggies? ( Please respond )
The Tiny Tack Room youtube
Aspen wood shavings I would say by the look of it. Never use pine (cheap) shavings. The ammonia in their urine can combine with naturally occurring oils to form by products unsafe for piggies
She uses aubiose. It’s a horse bedding
This video made me feel very happy to know that my guinea pigs are happy as they do many of these things. I was always wondering.

2 types
1 happy relaxed
afraid, hungury,mad
Schmidteren my baby guinea pig purrs tons, and popcorns frequently
Omg this is a HUGE breakthrough to me because I've always thought my piggys weren't happy but my guinea pigs do all of these things . Thx so much for making this vid 😊❤️
PLEASE TELL ME ,CAN THEY EAT APPLES ,I GIVE THEM APPLES BUT I DONT KNOW IF IM SUPPOSED TO!
If you don't know just don't give . In case it's dangerous for him. And yes you can give apple but with no skin. Because it can cause problem on lips ( something in the skin may be bad for few piggy )
The skin is not the issue, the seeds are poisonous. Watch out for seeds.
I give my pigs apples with skin on (without core and seeds) once every month or every few weeks. They have been ok. We used to give my past previous pigs apples and they lived a long time.
For future reference please don't give your pigs anything if you don't know whether or not it's bad for them
You can feed them apples
My guinea pigs are happy when they're running laps. And I know they're happy and relaxed when they plop their heads down for a nap.
should guinea pigs be in groups
Matthew Doyle
yes, they should be at least two, better more
Lighting Gaming they dont have to, but if they are with a friend or a group it generally means they are happier, some guinea pigs, very rare, like to be alone, if you only have one it is perfectly fine
Groups or duos.
and no that's not a fortnite reference.
Their enclosure is so nice!!
My guinea pigs have grown pretty big so I felt bad that I didn't have much room for them, but seeing as they've done all of these signs I hope that means they're content 😋
400th like yay
I got my piggies 5 days ago and both of them where popcorning yesterday, both let me handfeed them, they eat when I'm around and they don't away anymore 😊
the people that diddnt lije this are rude
Melissa Fuentes no they have opinions
lije?
chillXI I think she accidentally miss spell “Like”
My guinea pig stretches like that often when I have him out for snuggles. Glad to know what a good sign that is. Yay!
I bought her a little hut made of rope and she always makes a soft sound whenever she goes inside
thank you! I thought mine was upset with the sounds he makes, but now I know he's happy
My older guinea pig used to live alone for a year and he became so attached to me that he hides on my shoulder when he feels danger) He lay down there and starts purring
the best sign ever
Although him and my dog love hanging out in the room together when I'm at work so I think that helps (dog on bed and up on a high shelf in a roofed cage just in case)
Went through the process of getting him larger and larger cages, ended up settling on a huge rabbit cage because I wasnt finding the ones for guinea pigs having enough room and I would end up making extensions for him.
YAY! My guinea pig does all of the above! Happy to here he is happy! Thanks for the facts
For me it's finally spring! I can't wait to go to the farms around me and get fresh veggies for my babies!!
My piggies do all of these things daily! He he, good to know I have happy, healthy piggies!
Love you Sylvester!!! Never forgotten 😘
Thanks sooooo much for posting this my guinea pig always makes that strange snuffly noise you mentioned and I thought she was angry or poorly but it is completely the same as yours you have totally put my mind at rest thanks soooooo much .xx
My guinea pig Twinkie popcorns non stop, usually prevents some sleep, but as long as she’s happy, it’s okay.
I like the flower graphics you used and of course ALWAYS ❤ the piggies!
Your pigs have such a lovely home! :)
