    at 6:49, take the small pink triangle out and put it by the light blue large triangle where it would fit perfectly and then put the medium sized red triangle in the only place left, the corner😃My grandparents had this puzzle. Super old school. Loved trying to make the animal shapes too. Nice to see some of the old school classic puzzles!

    • @KarstenJohansson
      @KarstenJohansson 2 года назад +8

      I think it is more of a fidget device, because the puzzle is that you have to turn the round thing to the right spot, and then you can open it up and change it to that sort of maltese cross configuration. That's what she does in the movie as well. Wish has a couple versions of the puzzle. Look carefully through them because the cheapest and most expensive ones are crap, and you can easily tell by the closeups. The middle-priced one is allegedly made with oak, and its closeups are so much nicer. That one also says there are 3 ways to solve it, which has me curious. It looks like that one doesn't have the internal mechanism though, so as always with Wish, you don't know what you'll get until it arrives.

    • @TroyMackay
      @TroyMackay 2 года назад +3

      @@KarstenJohansson There is an additional layer of difficulty after you close the latch as you describe. An internal labyrinth puzzle can be engaged (the tracks which are visible) for an extra challenge. Hard to say on this copy, but it looks like all the pieces of the internal mechanism are there. I wouldn't leave that thing laying around unlocked...

    • @KarstenJohansson
      @KarstenJohansson 2 года назад +3

      @@TroyMackay Oh that would make much more sense as a puzzle. I'm getting one. I think I have to get another as well because the one I ordered is made from oak and pulls apart to make the two configurations (missing the internal mechanisms). It'll look awesome, but if I want the puzzle, I have to get the uglier one. The maze mechanism, which isn't really described in the movie, makes way more sense since the movie itself is about a maze.

    • @mixmage
      @mixmage Год назад +1

      I have this puzzle. He was unlucky that it arrived in the unlocked state. You have to use your thumbs to rotate the circle on the top to unlock it, just like in the movie. You actually need to rotate the whole central cylinder to exactly the right angle, then hold the bottom circle still and rewind the top one by about 15° to fully unlock. Then you can pull the two halves apart and change it to the “Maltese Cross” alignment.
      It took me days of fiddling and emulating the film to feel these locks inside.
      There is a maze on the central cylinder that you need to solve in order to open the secret compartment in the centre. All of these were unlocked when they started, which was disappointing for them. It’s a tough puzzle which would have taxed even Chris, and without knowing the film you have very little prospect of chancing onto the solution.

    The first puzzle with the triangles, square and that "other" shape was not completed correctly. It does in fact fit snug in the frame.
    The long side of the large triangle goes against the edge of the frame, then next to that the same thing with the other large triangle. This will complete half the puzzle frame through the diagonal corners. Now the next biggest triangle goes in the opposite corner from the completed side with its longest side facing the centre. You then just need to fill the rest in (with lack of a better description) by going small triangle, square, triangle, other shape.

    The Lament Configuration puzzle box isn't a puzzle as such, more an interactive Hellraiser prop that works a bit like the movie version (with less of the impossible overlapping mechanisms and portals to hellish torture dimensions). There are several 3D printable versions of this object freely available online. The complex mechanism inside is designed to allow the two halves to split more than 100% apart from each other, so they can twist past each other. Some versions spring open, and use the rotary dial as a lock to keep it closed.

    The Hellraiser puzzle box has more to it. There is a small mazy attached to the turning central disks on either end. When the mazes are solved it pulls the puzzle completely flush and locks them in place. The maze then has to be solved in reverse to change the shape back to a cube and solved again in order for the two pieces to pull down tight and flush again.

    The Lemarchand's box, is an amazingly crafty machine. I actually make jewelry, tattoo machine, and locking/ slide boxes with several different designs, as to, bring the fictional boxes to light. There are currently over 270, fictional and many with only mentioned briefly. I have 5 different designs, though the original lament layout and artwork are my favorite. I've been watching Mr. Ramsey, for awhile now, and love the passion he exhibits for the puzzles and art that goes behind it all. Hope everyone has a great evening.

    I'll solve that puzzle for you guys. Those are my favorite style of puzzles. I've done a few different plastic ones, and a couple made of wood over the years. They are a ton of fun, and take quite a bit of spacial reasoning, depending on how complicated the puzzle is.
    The trick is figuring out where/when you need to slide each block out of the way into one of the cut outs, in order to fit the next one in.
    Been watching you for years. When I first found your channel, was when you solved one of the acrylic puzzle. With clear blue pieces. There was something weird about it, like it had 5 corners, or seemed to have an extra piece at first. Went back, and watched all the previous episodes. And, haven't missed a new upload yet. Seeing your channel grow, has been inspirational.
    Wes, just frantically moves stuff around, until it fits 😆. Chris, is much more slow, and methodical. It's interesting to see completely opposite approaches, to try and solve the same puzzle 😀

    Fun episode! I would definitely try solving the stuck puzzle. I think I’ve tried some like that before.

    Great video on affordable puzzles. We can’t all be as skilled as Chris, but we can all have fun with these types of puzzles.

    The duality of man in solving puzzles:
    Chris trying to find the sequence.
    Wes trying to force the sequence.

    I feel like for the hellraiser one - there's probably something more; maybe line up the 'map' or picture things on each of the 4 sides before using the middle piece to point to something? Maybe you need to have more knowledge of hellraiser in order to solve it - I've never seen it so other than this suggestion, I got nothin' xD

    I find the burr puzzles very interesting. I wonder what the process would be for making one. It's fun seeing you two trade off the puzzles while talking.

    I love solving puzzles when i have the time, have several that my wife has watched me take apart and reassemble. She has gotten me a few that she thought I would have trouble with only to watch me complete it in about 15 minutes............she was not happy btw. Then I found your channel in 2020 and have been watching ever since..................then watching you and Wes doing puzzles together was fun with the banter and all. Keep up the good work.

    I really enjoyed the way you did this video. Don't get me wrong I like all of your videos, but I just really liked the whole two friends hanging out doing several different puzzles at the same time. Really cool. Keep it up.

    Fun fact, the coloured shapes puzzle is actually called tangram, and it's much deeper than just making a square. There's thousands of shapes you can form from those pieces alone. You could find many different tangram puzzles, which are just silhouettes of the finished puzzle and you need to figure out how to arrange the pieces together. Had great fun with that as a kid.

    This looked like so much fun, the puzzles were quite odd but still had a blast watching some of them and their solutions
