I agree. I have over 200 plants and I have no idea how long it takes to water. I water plants as needed so it is spread out. If I see a dead leaf I cut it off. If something looks buggy I treat. I think the key is looking at your plants anytime you’re in the vicinity.
Yeah I've really learned that when I notice something needs water etc to do it in that moment (if I can) otherwise it gets put off and forgotten about/becomes a bigger problem!
It takes me 4~5 hours to water 200 plants. It could be better to spread out your watering schedule because watering 4~5 hours on the same day can be painful. But, I still align the watering schedule because it is also convenient since you don't need to monitor your plants every day.
Fern, don't be so hard on yourself - you've been super organised since you moved into your "glass house"! All your plants are thriving - the true mark of success. I hope the winter slows down your watering schedule. Then you will feel more on top of things again. 😊
I loved this style of video SO much! ❤ I def want another week-of-plant-chores video ☺️ also the death stare you gave Shane when he made noise in the kitchen 💀 literally me with Riley 😂😭
I do the same thing you do when I water my plants. 😄 I take each to the sink to water them and rinse them off. I enjoy doing it that way. It's almost therapeutic. 😍 Oh! Nice!!! That was so cool of them to send you one. I just got my Paraiso Verde from the local VI Plant Shop just recently. I look forward to seeing how yours grows, and I hope I can keep mine alive *lol*. I've been eyeballing the silver cloud philo off and on on their online shop because they have them in right now. But haven't pulled the trigger and got one of those yet becaaaaause I sorta kinda just litterally spent a bunch online there already. *lol* I bought a Philodendron Tortum, a Monstera 'Esqueleto', Euphorbia Trigona Variegata (which I hope I won't kill), a Dieffenbachia 'Crocodile', a Philodendron 'Snowdrift', and a bunch of other plants I probably shouldn't have bought just yet ((but they all looked sooo pretty) .😄And so am waiting on those to be delivered in the next day or two. I swear I should just sign over my paychecks directly to them at this rate. *lol*
I always wait to watch your videos in the mornings because it motivates me to start off my day and be productive to take care of myself and my plant babys✨
Will you update up along the way with the overwintering process on your cactus? I was just told of this method for cactus in the winter and I'm nervous
Hey Fern thank you so much for all the time and effort you took to film and edit this video. I enjoyed it so much ❤ I am a plant mom who also loves crochet (also took it up in my 30s) and highly recommend. Pretty easy to learn and now part of my relaxation tools too. Thank you again for the video; I love your collection 🥰🌿
You should thrift some cute glass dishes/bowls/jars/anything to place under your plants to be able to water in place. It would save u a lot of time. Plus if you find some glass thrifter items they’re barely noticeable bc they’re glass
I have 99.9% of my collection in no drainage, I find they’re fine w it, but I’m also using pon., but the few I do have in soil are also totally fine w it as long as I have a small Leca almost drainage layer in the bottom
The bathrobe energy could not be more relatable. I'll be doing college work, see a plant out of the corner of my eye and just get up and care for every plant 😭. I always do it after I shower for some reason, it's like a switch flicks in my brain that once I'm cozy I have to just stare at plants for an hour 👁👄👁
Fern great video! I don’t think many of us that have 200 plus plants really take into account, just how much time this passion takes in a day. And I don’t do videos and edit. You are amazing juggling all of this. Also most of my collection is well established and needs less fussing, if that makes sense. ( plus I have no freakin moss poles) lol But like one other subscriber said, constant monitoring and pest checking are a big part of a healthy collection. Your Amedriem silver is wow! Nicest one I have seen! Bravo! Loved the long video!
Loved this video as always! I literally watched it and plant shop on Etsy at the same time…got 4 new plants 😅. I have close to 130 plants and growing…I water several days a week as well. A few here a few there and check everyone really good twice a week on my days off. It’s what makes me happy. My husband loves it…which I guess I’m lucky in that sense. His favorite thing to do as a date night is to go to the big box stores and plant shops to look at plants with me.
Loved this video, watched it in segments in between doing my own plant chores 😅 Your Wally grow plants have bushed out so much and haven’t seen your trailing Jade in so long,I got one after seeing yours prob 2 years ago! I can imagine that this took a lot longer than a non RUclipsr,as you constantly have to move your camera, clean up etc…. Really appreciate everything you do Fern. Your plants are rewarding you with beautiful lush growth! 💚💚🪴🪴🍃🍃🌿 Natalie AUSTRALIA
Omggg fern!! The angle of the night watering!!!! Even though the lights aren’t on, it shows just how amazing your plant shelves/cabinets look as a whole! ❤❤ GOALS!! 🪴
Also, try a qtip and rubbing alcohol for the spot on the white euphorbia. I’ve had similar spots on mine and it came right off like scale does. Good luck!
I also have 200 plants [high five]. I water on Wed & Sun, taking each plant [that needs it] to the sink to flush n'drain. While it's in the sink I fuss over it, squee about any new leaves, and clean things up. Takes usually 2+ hours but I find it really relaxing, esp on Sunday before a busy week! Plus I like moving around since I have to sit so much during the week.
Literally watching this while doing plantchores, and I’m constantly dropping pots, poking myself on my cactusses, spilling dirt everywhere, accidentally ripping plants apart, so watching this is very relatable 😂 I’d love to see anther video like this! Also, my amydrium medium silver is grown on a coco fiber pole which I never water and it’s sizing up pretty well!
Pop off Fern! saved this one for bedtime. you're an inspiration, thanks for creating such high quality content. 🧚🌿💚 EXCITED FOR THE CROCHET ERA! the perfect addition for the vlog channel I reckon eh :)
My cacti sit with everything else and I'm afraid if you don't water them the whole winter you will only have a hollow shell when spring comes. They need a lot less when they are dormant but they still need some. And some cacti grow in the winter
Your vídeos are always so inspiring and so relaxing, it doesn't matter how long it is I always find it so easy to binge watch a ton of them, especially this routine ones and repotting
About five or six years ago I taught myself to crochet by watching RUclips videos. I really enjoyed it. I ended up making a queen size blanket for my grandma with like three or four colors in it. I ended up giving up on it because it became hard to continue to get the yarn I was using. It was fun though, but also it made my fingers and wrists sore😢😮😊
Fern, love this video! All the plants are looking fab. I’ve watched you since the pandemic and you have grown so much. Your collection has evolved and become envy-worthy!
I probably have about 200 indoor Tropicals as well, and my favourite, greatest of all time tool I use and will never get rid of is: those little white plastic plant label sticks - I love them. I write the month & day in permanent marker when I water each. This one thing has alleviated 99% of my (non-bug related) plant stress. Now just a glance at the date tells me if I should check the soil. Second best is: Beneficials!!
Fern, you have a serious plant maintenance schedule. I have about sixty plants and I'm always looking at leaves, wiping leaves, watering, Pon Treatment weekly, and making sure self-watering plant vessels have fresh water and are clean. Finally, I move all the plants to the windows daily so they can get the required light. I will be looking into beneficial mites this week. I'm on the US side and hopefully, it will not be a major task. I was surprised by how many large varieties you have along with the accelerated growth. Totally amazed at how fast they are sizing up. Best wishes You ✌👋are incredible
I was putting off my plant chores but this plant movie as mentioned above has provided me with the motivation. Watching as I do my repotting and plant care. Love you Fern. Felt like I had to finally comment. ❤
Ohhhhh I'm going to overwinter my cacti!! Hope my "boobie" doesn't throw a fit.. enjoy your plant. Be kind to yourself. We all do the best we can 💜 Kisses to Olive 💚🐶 oh and I needed to add an extender to my crystallinum but all I had was the plastic cone from when my kitten, George, got neutered.. it worked perfect!
Do you think there is a number for you where you feel like you have too many plants? I have reduced the amount of plants I have for sustainability for me as its hard to get to them all.
This is my terapy, Im a full time student and after a long day of working I can give myself time to look at my plants and listen to fern💓🌱🥰. Im happy everytime I get a notification!
I don't have 200 plants but it takes time to keep them. They never all need water at the same time. I watch them through the week and lift their pots and I know who will need water on Saturday. Sometimes I water during the week when I'm on breaks to destress from my job.
Okay, I am curious and I’ll preface by saying I know nothing about anthurium. But is there a reason for doing the pot extenders instead of just up-potting large enough to fit all the roots? Since you were up-potting anyways?
Hi Fern! I have about the same number of plants, I don’t go by a schedule per se, I pretty much end up doing some sort of watering every other day or so. I don’t mind it, it’s meditative for me. I do whatever maintenance I notice while watering in the moment- removing leaves, etc. It works for me.
Your silver cloud is so beautiful! I just got my cutting in the mail yesterday. 🥰 Also I’m sorry about the milk confetti. Hopefully you can get another? Mine is super tough and beautiful! I don’t want darn thrips to ruin it for you. On another note, wow I don’t think I could ever have the plant collection you have! My 29 plants are already a decent amount of work. 😅 You do such a good job caring for them! 💕
Sorry about your Hoya😮 I don't have any hoyas. I heard there a spider 🕷️🕸️ mite magnet so I've been avoiding them, but I really like them... especially the flowering ones😊
Thank you!! My favourite plant shops are planthaventoronto.com (can get a discount with code WILDFERN), nstropicals.com, www.crystalstarnursery.com, & wepotplants.com 😊
@@wildfern Thanks. I'll look at those. Today I went to missassaga nursery and found White princess plants and Hoya so found many of my wish list. Ended up with 4 boxes of plants so happy day. Typically I struggle to find things on my list. The white princess were only 8.99 cad so great prices. Online they are typically 48 or more.
Can you please answer a question for me and probably many others. Do you ever just water with plain water or do you always have something mixed in the water like plant food or fertilizer???? The other question I have is do you plant right in pots or keep most plants in planter pots and then place them in cover pots?Im sure you have answered these questions in old videos but I need a little refresher to help me out! I revert back to bad ideas very easily and don’t catch my mistakes until I have plants I have to cut up and attempt to start over!
Loved the video! Finally had time to watch it all! I love crocs! I got hubs to get me the Chewbacca ones that are out now for Christmas lol yeah I’m a nerd but it’s ok. And after seeing Dakota’s comment on discord about the “look” lmao I had to see that and I laughed so hard…the face was like “are you kidding me?” 🤣 much love ❤️ Tamara
Hi Fern! You're correct. The Pariso Verde's variegation only comes out with new leaves in the heat. Here in Australia its finally warming up & mine is going variegated again...finally!!!!
Love the video & seeing your routine. I have 200+ plants & for me, the first 3/4 hours each morning are all about plant chores - luckily I'm retired now, so have the time. My movement is somewhat impaired so my plants give me the motivation to move around although about 30 minutes today was spent sitting at the kitchen sink waging battle on the Mealy Bugs I found on my Hoya Linearis (probably the worst plant for Mealy Bugs to attack).
loved this! would love to watch more like it! I learn a lot from watching other people's plant care habits, especially with such a big healthy collection!
I think I'm at about 100 plants, trying to downsize. What helps me most is being able to water plants in place. I have 95% soil plants. Everything either in cache pots or deep saucers. I couldn't fathom having to bring everything to the sink. My moss poles can be more intense. I have maybe 10? I bring em outside to hose down or if they are still moist I'll use a watering globe, which helps alot. Also, I'm a lazy repotter. I have plants that haven't been upotted going on 3 years😂
I suppose there’s a good reason for it but why don’t you use a really high pot to put the whole anthurium in instead of using a pot that is too low and extend it? I find that plastic garden pots that were used for climbing plants work great. You can often get them for free at the garden centre because they otherwise throw them away
You totally could :) I just haven’t come across anything the right height that I’d be looking for, especially not in a clear version like I prefer. The extenders are especially handy for when the plant itself doesn’t need a repot, but you want to add height to cover the higher roots as the plant grows. Hope that helps x
Nice video on bringing plants inside. This summer I did not take any plants outside after experiencing bringing them in the year before was such a PIA. Will be interested to see how your cacti do “at rest” in the basement. 😊
Awesome video! I'm always curious how people manage large collections. I have an indoor and outdoor pair of Crocs! They're just so comfy and cute/dorky 😅 Really intrigued about how the cactus will do. I also prefer to bring plants to the sink or tub, less mess, can shower off leaves and you get some steps in.
Loved this video, really motivated me to get planty stuff done that I have been pushing off. Its 11:30 pm here but I am going to get more stuff done so my plants are happy before winter settles in😬
I'm wondering the same thing. They look like they're some kind of sachet thingy?? I've not noticed any other "plant person" use such "sachet thingy's". Fingers X'd somebody will inform us both on what Fern is playing at. The suspense is doing me nut in!
Hi Fern. As you start putting your plants back inside, I am starting to put mine out. Your autumn sounds unusually warm, as is the spring I am experiencing. This year has been quite a year for pests. My Homalomena - Maggy was covered in thrips over winter, so I have put her outside for a vacation. Thrips gone!!! Yay!!!! I love all your plants. Thank you for another fun and informative Planty video.
I keep a container of nutrient rich water in every section of plant areas. So, if I see a plant/plants that need water I can just grab it on the spot. Makes it so much easier.
I'm trying to get to One Hundred Plants but seems like I can't..... Some of the Plants dies off.... Fiddle Leaf Fig, Dieffenbacia, Ferns, etc.....I buy them over again and the same thing happens again.....
I love this format of video. It was so nice to see you and your regular element. Also, I love that it was a plant delivered during the video and it's such a beautiful plant and leafy diva is one of my favorite RUclipsrs 🫶👏
I agree with you for me. The best way to water is at my sink. It doesn’t work well when I want to video though because I don’t have a set up like your kitchen where I can have a forward video mostly at the side which makes it a little bit more difficult for the viewer. I do have a question what is the deal with all the labels you have on your plants? I can’t read what it says, but it looks like it’s the same label almost on all of them and another question how do you decide to propagate using pumice or water?
I live in Eastern Ontario and have to agree with you when it comes to putting plants out for the summer. Never again... did it one year and the gnat issue in my soil was unbelievable 😳 Most of our plants are in PON now so not having issues anymore but wholly that one year was so stressful. A few even died 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Yeah, until I get my patio enclosed, all of my plants are staying in the house. I like the idea of putting them outside for more sun and humidity, but I hate the reality of pests.😅 I can’t imagine how stressful it must have been, dealing with so many gnats, transitioning to pon, losing plants-all the while having a life beyond plants. Glad you got it under control.^^
I have at least that many pots of plants too, amaryllis, violets, orchids, succulents, cactus, snake plants, spider plants, oxalis and Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving cactus etc, it is lots of work but so rewarding!!
I've never seen this channel, (RUclips just dropped me off here after Nick Alexander's most recent vid) but as a crazy plant lady, myself, this is definitely the type of stuff I'd love to subscribe to and watch regularly... Unfortunately, though, I only made it about 8-and-a-half minutes into this video before I literally had to drop everything I was doing to come stop it and click away, instead. Genuinely don't mean to be a B-word, but if I may (in good faith) share just a teeny tiny little bit of constructive criticism, in hopes that it may reach the creator, or anyone else who might benefit from considering their own speech tendencies -- I'm sure you're a beautiful person and I can see these are beautiful, well-cared-for plants... But good god... I *CANNOT* stand to keep listening to the incessant up-speaking you're doing!! (i.e. that awful oratory habit of adding a rising intonation at the end of *every.* *single.* *sentence.* -- as though each sentence is a question) Again, totally not trying to be mean, just wanted to point it out, since I'm 1000% certain I'm not the only subscriber this channel has lost out on due to this, and I know oftentimes folks don't even realize they have these habits to try to break if no one ever says anything about it. Wishing you tons of success and all the best growth in your future!
I’m loving these new videos/vlogs. I am also a plant lover but don’t have as many as you, but who does. I like to watch when receiving my chemotherapy.
@leafydiva ! I really like her videos. She's in New Orleans, so heat is likely not an issue. That's why I haven't purchased that plant. Apparently, cebu blue ghost is heat reliant and that one just made me mad. 😂
I have the same lack of luck with hoya and succulents. They can look A-OK when I go to bed and be dead when I wake up. Boom. All or nada. I read about warning signs and laugh. If I see a warning sign its the death toll

Hearing dogs walk around in the background of plant videos brings me so much joy-two of my favorite things in one place.😄

Where did you get the clear pots with the lifted center that you used to repot your Anthurium around 50 mins in?
Hi fern! İs syngonium milk confetii easy plant for beginning😅
Enjoyed your video. Where do you order your plants from? I’m also in Ontario
Hello fellow Ontarian 😊
@wildfern I would love to know what products you used for your homemade soil.
where can i find these cute plant t-shirts!?!? 😫It is not listed on your merch website
Hi Fern! You're correct. The Pariso Verde's variegation only comes out with new leaves in the heat. Here in Australia its finally warming up & mine is going variegated again...finally!!!!
Hope you are loving your home. It is so nice. Your yard looks really nice too.
Where did u get the jumper u were wearing on Friday? It’s so cute 😍😍
My outer variegated latifolia did the same thing and it turned out it was rotting 😢 an emergency repot did the trick for me at the time!
Yeah I feel like the mother plant is a goner - I can't believe it just rotted out of nowhere lol! The cuttings are doing well though, luckily :)
Loved this video! People with bigger collections can definitely relate to this. It takes a lot of time and hard work to keep all the plants happy 🪴♥️
Absolutely! Glad you enjoyed 🥰🌿
More like thiiiiiiis ❤❤❤
Thank you for watching 🥰🌿
Where did you get your shirt with the big leaves?
Nice video on bringing plants inside. This summer I did not take any plants outside after experiencing bringing them in the year before was such a PIA. Will be interested to see how your cacti do “at rest” in the basement. 😊
Awesome video! I'm always curious how people manage large collections. I have an indoor and outdoor pair of Crocs! They're just so comfy and cute/dorky 😅 Really intrigued about how the cactus will do. I also prefer to bring plants to the sink or tub, less mess, can shower off leaves and you get some steps in.
Your makeup is so pretty 🌷🌟🖤
Loved this video, really motivated me to get planty stuff done that I have been pushing off. Its 11:30 pm here but I am going to get more stuff done so my plants are happy before winter settles in😬
What are the tags that you have on your plants? new viewer here :) love your videos!
I'm wondering the same thing. They look like they're some kind of sachet thingy?? I've not noticed any other "plant person" use such "sachet thingy's". Fingers X'd somebody will inform us both on what Fern is playing at. The suspense is doing me nut in!
"*cackles in plant lady*" 😂😂😂
every time I see your water props I think to myself "wow what is life like without cats that would drink that then knock it over" 😂
I've seen a few cheap paraiso verde and you're making me wanna go for it
yes they're really popping up lately!! 👀 really curious of how it's going to grow for me
I keep a container of nutrient rich water in every section of plant areas. So, if I see a plant/plants that need water I can just grab it on the spot. Makes it so much easier.
1:06:32 cackles in plant lady 💀
I'm trying to get to One Hundred Plants but seems like I can't..... Some of the Plants dies off.... Fiddle Leaf Fig, Dieffenbacia, Ferns, etc.....I buy them over again and the same thing happens again.....
I love this format of video. It was so nice to see you and your regular element. Also, I love that it was a plant delivered during the video and it's such a beautiful plant and leafy diva is one of my favorite RUclipsrs 🫶👏
And thank you for that discount with skillshare. I just used it and I'm going to buy the year thing ☺️
What's in your "Super Thrive" liquid? Also where did you get the plastic for your moss poles?
I agree with you for me. The best way to water is at my sink. It doesn’t work well when I want to video though because I don’t have a set up like your kitchen where I can have a forward video mostly at the side which makes it a little bit more difficult for the viewer. I do have a question what is the deal with all the labels you have on your plants? I can’t read what it says, but it looks like it’s the same label almost on all of them and another question how do you decide to propagate using pumice or water?
where can I get that shirt😍
I'm crocheting while watching this
I live in Eastern Ontario and have to agree with you when it comes to putting plants out for the summer. Never again... did it one year and the gnat issue in my soil was unbelievable 😳
Most of our plants are in PON now so not having issues anymore but wholly that one year was so stressful.
(i.e. that awful oratory habit of adding a rising intonation at the end of *every.* *single.* *sentence.* -- as though each sentence is a question)
Again, totally not trying to be mean, just wanted to point it out, since I'm 1000% certain I'm not the only subscriber this channel has lost out on due to this, and I know oftentimes folks don't even realize they have these habits to try to break if no one ever says anything about it.
Wishing you tons of success and all the best growth in your future!
I’m loving these new videos/vlogs. I am also a plant lover but don’t have as many as you, but who does.
I like to watch when receiving my chemotherapy.
Thank you for watching, I'm really glad you enjoy them. I hope your chemotherapy is going well, sending big hugs 💚
Sending prayers that this is your last round, to kick it's butt. 🙏🏻🪴💚
@leafydiva ! I really like her videos. She's in New Orleans, so heat is likely not an issue. That's why I haven't purchased that plant. Apparently, cebu blue ghost is heat reliant and that one just made me mad. 😂
5:58 that shirt is amazing, I’d love to know where you got it! Please and thank you 🌱
Wait...can you re-tell us or link the video where you mentioned this T-shirt brand your wearing in this video..? Thx Fern, fun plant vlog! 🌿
I work at home from 7am to 3:300m and my spouse works from 10pm to 6am across town.... I 100000% understand "it's Wednesday part 2" 😅
I have the same lack of luck with hoya and succulents. They can look A-OK when I go to bed and be dead when I wake up. Boom. All or nada. I read about warning signs and laugh. If I see a warning sign its the death toll
I know you’ve told us before, but, I forgot. Where’d you get your shirt? I love it. Also, I really like these types of videos.
I always spray the heck out of plants that spent the summer outside before I bring them back in...neem oil
It’s a Fintonia Nerve Plant I think it’s the orange skeleton or the lime colourful I can’t remember ! Haha sorry but it’s totally a Fittonia
Fern, how do you do your superthrive water? How much super thrive to how much water!! You are brilliant.
I'm 80 plants in on a 400sq foot apartment. It's pretty much of part-time job taking care of 'em.
Your white ghost euforbia, it might just be an egg sack for some type of worm. My Zz plant had one last fall
OH NO I love your trailing Jade. I always look for one but can never find them.
32:00 girl same I took 200 out and it was a headache to bring inside so yes I will only bring a couple outside but not my whole collection 😢
