    Staind puts on a hell of a show, saw them with sevendust. Will never forget that show, it was pouring rain with lightning and they still played!

    Hey there, been awhile since I watched one of your videos. Tormented, Dysfunction, & Break The Cycle were easily Staind's best records. After that, it seems like they just got softer and softer each album with the exception of the last one of course. They've always been a decent band though.

    More people should be watching this cuz it's really good. I know more are ashamed of NU-METAL but I never was and never will be. I hope one day you can do a video on the Underground of Nu-Metal since there's so many great bands that have sadly been forgotten. Here's a few I remember listening to back in the early 2000's.
    Ultraspank-progress album is one of the best nu-metal albums in my opinion
    Twisted Method
    Endo
    Element Eighty
    Switched
    Pulse Ultra
    Taproot
    Ill Nino
    Motograter
    Memento
    Flaw
    From Zero
    Nothingface
    American Headcharge

      There is nothing to be ashamed of. Not all of it was good as in any other genre of music, but there were quite a few worthy bands. As for more underground bands yes I actually would like to talk of some of them more than others as there is no this type of content covering them. Even for staind the most I could find is their official DVD on making of Staind. Element Eighty were a really good and actually quite unique band, but the information on them is so scarce I don’t think they even had a single video released, so it would be difficult to cover them. Endo I will definitely make as well as American Head Charge. Ill nino and taproot maybe... but the timing needs to be right I have like at least 4 unfinished scripts for upcoming videos already... it seems like material is just never ending. I hope you will join us on Sunday at 8pm where I will wrap up Staind’s story. Hope to see you there!

      Tbh, the sole reason many people hate nu metal or think nu metal is something shameful is just one and has a name: Fred Durst

    Are you able to do a episode of the fall of nu metal that bridges into the early wave of metalcore bands who were closely tied to the scene as it was dwindling? I’m thinking the big 3 bands at the time that kinda had their feet in both scenes were Killswitch engage (Jesse era) , 36 crazyfists and five pointe o

    Hey!
    This Sunday this video will premier! Time depends on your time zone. New York time 3pm, Moscow 11pm, London 8pm. I hope some of my subscribers will join me for this! Something different and something that is definitely missing on my channel!
    Hopefully this goes well!
    See you on Sunday!
    Thanks,

    It is funny because all the kids now are into nu metal. So, there is somewhat of rise, fall then rise again.

      Interesting. Break the cycle is your least favourite? Illusion of progress was their lightest right?

      @@saysthemanbehindthemask yes,i don't really like break the cycle(unpopolar opinion),i only like change,waste,can't believe and open your eyes.
      I love illusion of progress for songs like this is it,the way i am,rainy day parade and the corner,but i love the entire album,for me is a lot underrated.

    • @saysthemanbehindthemask
      @saysthemanbehindthemask  4 года назад

      Unpopular opinion indeed. =) Illusion of Progress was my least fav... i kind of stopped listening to them after that album. It was just way too soft for my liking. But of course to each their own.

    I think you got it wrong bro stainds biggest influence was Carcass Mike admitted in a guitar magazine. Michael amott was a big influence on him to do the baritone guitars. It wasn't korn.

    • @saysthemanbehindthemask
      @saysthemanbehindthemask  4 года назад +1

      I am not sure about that 'it's been a while' since I made this video. But their self released album has heavy Korn influences besides they did several Korn covers in the early days. As for many bands influences are several not a single one... so I'd say both and probably several others apply. Korn being the 'HOT NEW BAND' that invaded the mainstream at the time was an obvious influence for many new bands. In terms of Mike and guitars Carcass is probably a good call since Korn played 7 string which Mike never used as far as I know. Good point, thanks

    Dysfunction is such an awesome album. Kind of a shame that Aaron Lewis went the way he did

    • @saysthemanbehindthemask
      @saysthemanbehindthemask  3 года назад

      I liked some of their heavier stuff with my favourites being "Just Go" and "Price To Play"... but I think their ballads like "Outside" and "It's Been While" are probably some of their strongest songs... I agree in a sense that I wish they had more of a balance when it comes their heavy and light stuff. I think "Price To Play" was probably one of their heaviest and coolest riffs... but most of "14 shades of grey" was quite bland... and "The Illusion of Progress" was when I gave up on the band pretty much... it was just so lifeless to me at that point. I can't really judge them for that since Aaron's voice sounds great with acoustic stuff and actually out off most of the Nu Metal bands their success carried well beyond 2003... when most bands began to sort of fall out of favour. I think they were thinking ahead as how to stay relevant in the future.

    They aren't really nu metal though. They're more associated with post grunge than anything else tbh

    • @saysthemanbehindthemask
      @saysthemanbehindthemask  3 года назад

      Well honestly... honestly these series were about bands beginning as Nu Metal and then slowly shifting to other genres and what not. That’s why it’s called “rise and fall”. And their first album has little to do with grunge... their main influence early on was Korn only in terms of vocals they were a little different but I think I mentioned that in the video. With their future releases and more mellow songs they had that Post Grunge vibe but that’s evolution of their sound. In terms of guitar work they were heavily inspired by Nu metal. Even on their last record... if their single “wannabe” was not Nu metal, I don’t know what is

    And it's been awhile since I gave a crap about someone like Aaron Lewis. Let's get to the part where he ruins everything.... right?... That is how the story goes, isn't it?
