Bohm deserves accolades. I gave him shit for his defense (deservedly so) in his first few years. And he killed us offensively in the playoffs in 2023, but he's a damn fine player, and deserves the love he's getting. This is one fierce lineup for pitchers, even without Turner who was doing great offensively. I hope they can keep this up, it's gonna make for a very fun summer/fall if they can sustain this.
@@n55_n8 for sure. They were talking about our pitching staff when I made my comment, so I only talked about the staff....but the entire team is Legendary status. Rollins, Pat Burrell, Werth, Chooch, Shane, even the bench guys like Matt Stairs.
That rotation was ridiculous, I watched Oswalt pitch a home playoff game against the giants (2010, not the year in particular were talking about but still a fun year) and he was automatic. He looked robotic. The Phillies lost that series, but Oswalt became one of my favorite Phillies by how poised he pitched in that game. So memorable.
We've played like 10 teams under .500 this year so people use that as an excuse. What they neglect is that half those teams are *only* under .500 *because* they played us, and at least 3 of the remaining 5 are *about to be* above .500, and 2 or 3 of those teams have beaten the Braves where we swept them.
Only thing worrisome if im a Phils fan, aside from health (Harper and Bohm had scares recently) is the potential role reversal. Phillies hadnt won the division since '11 and had been successful knocking off Atlanta in back to back seasons as the 6,4 seeds respectively. This time Atlanta could get their revenge in same fashion if Phillies are the top dogs. Last time the Phillies dominated the NL 08-11, they went backwards. 08 won WS. 09 Lost WS 10 Lost NLCS, 11 Lost NLDS with 102-60 record. They are currently on similar trajectory but all this isnt really baseball reasoning - its just superstitious mumbo jumbo. Truth is, as long as Phillies stay healthy they were always a bona fide 100+ win season. I think the Dodgers are the only true competition for Phillies pitching which i feel is best all around starter/pen staff in MLB, in the postseason. Plus they have BY FAR the best home field advantage and MASH the ball there. It has to be their year. Has to be.
Easiest starting Schedule in the MLB with most home games as well lol. They have only played 6 games with above .500 teams. 2 of which were lost. Lets seem em play some tougher teams before we get all hyped.
@@dougmatje1226 Came here just to say this. Swept the Padres in San Diego, dont believe they were under .500 at the time. Played the Reds when they were still doing well. The only teams they absolutely needed to beat, as very week teams, were the Rockies and the White Sox, and the Phillies swept them both. Like they are supposed to. I keep hearing this weak schedule narrative, but it just sounds like salty Braves fans to me.
Let's keep this in perspective. The Phils haven't played anyone yet. Now don't get me wrong, you have to play who's in front of you and beating up on the bad teams is the way you're supposed to do it but you have to be able to do it when you play the Braves, Dodgers, Cubs, and Brewers when the time comes.
Just a correction here, Marsh is playing mostly LF. Rojas is their regular CF. Also, Suarez had his, I believe, his first full spring training here. He had visa issues in 2021 and 2022, and played in the WBC last year. I don't think that is a coincidence. It happens to coincide with him really improving his control and velocity, but while a sub 2 era probably isn't sustainable, I don't think this season is a fluke. He's going to be good for a long time. Phillies need to lock him up through at least his remaining arbitration years.
And 8 days later we still have the best record in baseball!! We are definitely on a revenge tour, after the D-Backs planted their flag on our field, that left a bad taste..especially for us fans…everyone here in Philly wants Harper to get his ring…We ain’t Loosing!! Ring the Bell
@@BrittleDrop573 Nope, it's not even close. By ELO they have such an easy schedule that they could play the Braves or Dodgers for 9 straight games and still have a bottom 10 opponent ELO. The Dodgers have had a pretty average opponent ELO by comparison.
Feel like their rotation is due for some regression. Nola and wheeler are performing to their true talent level. I think Chris Sanchez is legitimately breaking out and could be a #3 starter on a lot of teams. Ranger Suarez has been hot like this before at the end of 2021 but when it was time for 2022 he kinda blew up with a 3.65 ERA (still pretty good) The only real question mark is Spencer Turnbull, he’s only thrown more than 50 innings once since 2019 and I just don’t think he’s a super talented pitcher. He does have a no hitter if I remember correctly, so when he’s on he’s on but I also think there’s a world where he goes down w an injury or just gets cold. No way he’s a 2-3 ERA pitcher. I also think Nola is gonna get ice cold sometime this season. I like him but I’ve watched him pitch so many times and feel like he’s incredibly inconsistent. He’ll have stretches of greatness followed by stretches of having gems get blown up in the 5th inning by giving up untimely homeruns. This rotation definitely grades out as maybe top 5 in baseball, definitely top 10. But Wheeler and Sanchez are the only ones who I feel like could end the season with their stat lines looking similar to what they do now. Really curious to see how this comment ages come July or August, Ik I’m very pessimistic about them and I admit to being somewhat biased against them but I also think 2 to 3 of their pitchers are due for some regression, not that they’ll end up having bad seasons, just that this level of production just isn’t sustainable
I agree that some regression is really likely to happen for their rotation. But they have been very huge in giving them a great start to the season! Will be interesting to see how they all are performing come July-August like you said. Thanks for watching and commenting!

The Phillies have begun to slump since before the all-star break. Just like they’ve done in years past they give us fans enough hope and then they snatch it away when we have any form of it. They just lost 3-1 to the Guardians and former Philly Ben Lively. Harper, Schwarber, Turner, Bohm, and Realmuto went 2/7 tonight. The big contracts are not hitting and are beginning to make this team flop. Even if they make the playoffs we all know how this ends. Philly chokes in the playoffs and the cycle continues; Bryce Harper left DC in 2019 and won a WS title from it, I’m believing that he’s cursed us; these are his friends and Dombrowski just to keep him happy was forced to sign them.
