  • Another upgrade we had planned was to fit a ventilator kit to put Thetford C260 Toilet Cassette Unit to our Kon-tiki 874 motorhome so was got hold of one and Phil popped around to fit it for us.

    I had one of these fitted to my van, we had a big problem with it though, when the Mrs used it her backside got stuck to the seat with the suction , she was stuck for an hour once until I got back and was able to break the vacuum

    The wife and I have been caravanning & motor homing over 10yrs. and not once have we had to use the toilet for No.2's. This time also includes holidays with the grandkids. We make use of public toilets eg; cafe's, pubs, campsites and the likes, I guess we've been lucky and not mucky, least it's there just incase, I've probably tempted fate now. All the best and happy and safe holidays.

    I fitted a SOG (brand name) years ago! Absolutely brilliant!!! 👌Easier to fit, better reviews and cheaper than the Thetford if I recall! 🤔

    • @RoamingRadfords
      @RoamingRadfords  Год назад +1

      The SOG brand is a little more expensive than the Thetford version, but I’m sure they’re both very good systems

    • @andyG779
      @andyG779 Год назад

      Not If you’re paying someone an hourly rate to fit the kit! I cannot comment on how good a Thetford toilet ventilation kit is, only that the SOG I fitted is brilliant and generally the majority of reviews prefer the SOG! 👌

    • @RoamingRadfords
      @RoamingRadfords  Год назад

      It seems the SOG systems might have gone up since you bought them Andy as a quick Google shows them at around £200 when the Thetford one is around £125. I guess the price of fitting either system would be the same in labour if your paying, but fortunately Phil didn’t charge us for his time 👍

    By fitting the SOG system do you still use chemicals and would you say it’s more efficient in breaking down the waste material? Thanks.

    • @RoamingRadfords
      @RoamingRadfords  Год назад +1

      Yes we still use Sol Bio as a belts and braces to disperse the smell out and to ensure the toilet smells it’s best

    Having to replace the filter every four weeks as Thetford recommends sounds like a very expensive upgrade to maintain.

    • @RoamingRadfords
      @RoamingRadfords  Год назад

      They claim 4 weeks of constant use, but for most people that will be once a year. We use our motorhome for around 12 weeks a year and will still only likely change it once a year.

    Hi, SOG is a separate brand to what was fitted (Thetford). Did I miss something?

    • @PhilipTomlinson
      @PhilipTomlinson Год назад +2

      Steve did say SOG, as lots of people call them SOGs, it is a bit like Hoovers, Asprin, Sellotape, Trampoline or Hovercraft.

    • @RoamingRadfords
      @RoamingRadfords  Год назад +2

      As Phil rightly said, it’s a generic name. The correct name would be a toilet ventilation kit, but just as vacuum cleaners are called Hoovers, these are usually referred to as SOG systems
