What a joy this was growing up in the 80s, watching PBS and they were on the screen. As I'm getting older, I love and appreciate both of them even more.
i laughed so hard hearing the back story of WHY She brought the BEER out. A WINE Sponsor was in the Studio that day, and Julia being Julia said BEER TODAY
As children, my sister and I were Americans living in Germany in the early 1970's, and the kindergarten we attended had snack time consisting of a roll with a piece of milk chocolate inside it. The first moments of this program instantly reminded me of that. :) Once in a while I will have a piece of chocolate with a roll or piece of bread, and I'm a kid again.
Little known fact. Julia whipped out the beer at this taping because one of their wine sponsors was behind the camera. That is why Jacques brought up the wine and looked confused. lol
@@loge7358 Yeah. She didn't cow tow to anyone. And because the producer told her that the sponsors were there that day it was her mission to show them who's boss. Love that!
Hey People of Today..This is what True Friendship is all About...Total Respect and Honor. And by the way...This Series is Filmed at Julia’s Kitchen at Cambridge. Julia and Jacques Forever.
The closest he ever came to being a short order cook was when he was training for head of R&D at Howard Johnson behind the line in the restaurant and I don't really consider that short order ... Unless you call cooking for Charles De Gaulle or La'Pavillion short order.
That fish sandwich looks so great and crunchiest sound ever Wow is he talented or what.its so cute the way they smile and laugh around with each other. Especially when jack was talking saying what a great time he had with Julia and she continued to drink her wine 😂🍷 but that's what we loved about Julia she was so funny and so cute.
Has it been three years already?? Time flies anymore. I was still thinking it was like last year. I can imagine it being two years, but three? Yikes. He seems to be doing well these days!
Can you imagine the delight if you were somehow able to hire Julia and Jacques to cook for you and your family? The two of them teaming up to produce wonderful dishes would be amazing
If you’re sautéing a sandwich in a pan and having trouble with getting the cheese melted, you can always splash some water into the pan and cover the pan. This allows moisture in it and gets the cheese melted.
....There is another Sponsor to the Show...Land O Lakes Butter ..And That Episode The CEO of Land O Lakes Came by to Visit and Julia Pulls a Fast one and while preparing the receipt ...Julia says I’m going to use Crisco to make her Dough! Lol 😂 Jacques learned early on not to say anything..lol.
I haven't finished watching this one yet but I had to jump in and say, as a native of Massachusetts born in the 50's, I adore the lobster rolls that were always served in hot dog buns. Divine! New England hot dog buns were the best. I've moved away, and they really don't exist anywhere else as far as I know. It pleases me greatly in 2023 to be watching Jacques make his lobster rolls with the genuine local item. Combined with New England lobster, it is absolute perfection.
I cried like a baby. My late mother and I would watch Julia on PBS together on Saturday together. I miss them both so much. I think them both when I cook anything and hope they both approve.
I ask the same question. I believe it all became about a thing called money. The cooking shows on tv today are there just for entertainment. The chefs don’t really teach you much anymore. When Julia and Jacques were on tv, they at least taught us things about cooking, and how to make things easier in the kitchen when cooking certain things
In this Episode..Julia Pulls A Fast One on The Whole Crew including Jacque and The Very Important Sponsor for the Show and in fact the Owner of Kendall-Jackson Vineyard, Jess Jackson and his Wife, Barbara Banke were on the Set at Julia’s House on hand to watch this show..and Jacques says White Wine and Red Wine, and Julia ..who knows the Major Sponsor is sitting in her Kitchen says...I Want Beer..and the Look on Jacques Face!! LOL 😆...Julia pulls out...Beer it is!
The cheese melts better if you use whole butter, clarified butter has no wey, which evaporates to steam-melt the cheese. Just in case someone has that problem more recently hahaha
I love that he asks her "what shall we drink? white wine? No........beer, we never drink beer......." Reminds me of my mom - "I'll have a cold beer!" My sis is the same way.......right out of the bottle
I can still remember watching these two every weekend on PBS. They were absolutely wonderful. I love that Jacques still refers to her.
Could watch this a million times. Love their chemistry.
What a joy this was growing up in the 80s, watching PBS and they were on the screen. As I'm getting older, I love and appreciate both of them even more.
The two of them together is kinda chaos and I absolutely love it! 😍
haha first time I see them together but that was my thought..
Treasures!!! Thank goodness that we still have Jacque. Jacques is now almost the age that Julia was here. Lovely people through and through!
Jacques tearing into that bread and chocolate like he just got out of prison.
Lol it was really a classic for kids in France until the 70's.
Dark chocolate is low in sugar, and the artisanal bread is not that unhealthy.
i laughed so hard hearing the back story of WHY She brought the BEER out. A WINE Sponsor was in the Studio that day, and Julia being Julia said BEER TODAY
Sometimes a cold one is the right thing!
did she have a habit of sticking it to sponsors?
Greatest screen name ever!💯🇺🇲 watching my French teachers!!
hah! love it
I have loved these guys since I was a kid. My TV grandparents 😊
These two look like they just have more than the best of times when they cook together. Love it!
No matter who you are, you've got to love Julia an Jack. Food is love, because we love those we feed.

Watching Jacques and Julia just warms your heart. Today's cooking shows are no where near as entertaining as these older shows.
He's so kind and gentle to her as she she aged gracefully.
What a great set of french chef master's
Jack as she says and (Julia.R.I.P. )
Two REAL chefs. Jaques was and still is a master chef.
The "anti-fat" people ruined the tuna. Julia was golden LOL
"Is this going to be a diet recipe?" Love this woman.
"You could cut them into quarters as an ... OR DU VREE 😏" love her sly smile there
The king and queen of them all ❤
I just love Julia Childs cooking shows, just so classic and no stress like today.. Miss you Julia Child..
J & J were so great together! This show was closer to my time than her earlier work. His solo show was also wonderful!
These are an absolute joy to watch. They’re treasures.
I adore these two cooking together! ♥️
He still references her. He misses her. Friends, forever.
really?! omg thats so sweet
I don’t think so he’s just being diplomatic
I agree, Julia is just so classic and a true person...
Yea he misses her. The king and queen for the kitchen.
He does talk about her. He certainly misses her.
Who are these demented 9 people that would give this a thumbs down?
Envious losers :)

I don't know, but I countered with a thumb up.
"I like beer." I love Julia.

We all miss you too,Julia Child. There will never be any one like her ever.
You said it, brother. That's the absolute truth, too. When we lost Julia, we lost the best.
Thank you for bringing these back and sharing them! They were the best!

I really enjoyed watching Mr Pepin & Julia Childs shows. They complimented each other. What a pair!loved the sandwich episode!! Fabulous

Aw, this was bittersweet. Love and miss Julia. And I'm currently watching all of Jaques Pépins vids

I love watching them cook. They are so much fun.
Little known fact. Julia whipped out the beer at this taping because one of their wine sponsors was behind the camera. That is why Jacques brought up the wine and looked confused. lol
How in the world do you know that lol. And also what prompted her to stiff the wine sponsor?
@@mervinprone There is a series of videos interviewing Jacques about his life. When asked about the show, he told that story.

I'd like to know what brand of beer that was.

Julia/Jacques. Great chemistry. She’s the whiz, he’s the fizz
Can't be too many people that could get away with calling Jacques Pepin "Jack." Thanks for the video my friend!
Watching this reminds me of the exquisite acting job the actress did in portraying Julia in the miniseries of the same name.
LOVE the videos! Thank you
This is one of my favorites
Aw, I love them😢
Very entertaining duo!!!!! ❤
These two are amazing
Thank u for these videos !!
Julia's sense of humor is hilarious! "Anti-fat people..." I love it.
I hope to have hands that steady when I'm 88 lol.
Having croque monsuires in Paris were amazing. Making them at home are good, too ❤
I love old school people.
I love them both. I grew up watching Julia mostly, brings back great memories.
Dang I forgot how much I loved this show
That baked seafood sandwich is a mic drop!
The pain baigne they make is called a muffeletta in New Orleans, where it is a popular tradition.
The two were friends before the series and remained close friends until julia's death in 2004.
RIP Gloria Pepin
What?! No.....
Are you serious!

Like a muffeletta !♥️
Yes ! I was thinking of the same thing. Central Grocery - Nawlin’s.
If you’re sautéing a sandwich in a pan and having trouble with getting the cheese melted, you can always splash some water into the pan and cover the pan. This allows moisture in it and gets the cheese melted.
It can also moisten the bread, which detracts from a proper Croque Madam.
