We now need a quilting dark ride.
With random blasts of compressed air. I'd love to see Jacob visit that one.
26:10 “Bagger is here!” That was great 🤣
hahaha
Loved it! 😂😂
I remember going to this theme park all the time when I was young!
Funny enough, last week I was telling my family, "You know, of all the places we've been to that the Carpetbagger has been to, he hasn't been to Dutch Wonderland." Hours later, this happens. Love your stuff, Jacob!
It’s called a “ quilting bee” when the women get together to quilt!
Hi grandma
My hometown! I worked there years ago as a ride operator! I most often drove the monorail (it's a LOT of fun!), as well as the tram that took people around the parkinglot, but they also liked to put me on the skyride, the carousel, and the Dutch Wonder House. The Wonderhouse was done by hand instead of a push button so it had a technique to it. Because it's about 15 degrees higher inside and the house spins, if it was too hot outside they'd close it for the day (or if someone threw up in it).
You know whats weird? I used o be a rideoperator and monoraildriver in an American themed park in the Netherlands! This park is like a weird mirror image of where i used tot work.
My hometown too. Don't you also hate it when people pronounce it "LAN kaster" instead of the proper "lank uh stir"?
I'm in Retail and Games, I was trying to see if I was in the video
In the early 70s swan boats were in the lake, where the dragon is now. I have a picture of me in swan boat, with the monorail track in the background.
In the 80s they swapped the swan boats for a Flintstones theme
I was there in the early 80s and I remember riding the swan 🦢 boats. I also remember coloring in a coloring book on the trip there when we got back to the station wagon my crayons were all melted because it was so hot that day! LOL
Me too
Over the years they changed the boats out for different types. Been going there since 1967, took my kids and then my grandkids.
There used to be a big sign in book in the gift shop area and you would out your name and where you were from. Wonder if they kept them.
The irony of Amish robots
Ha! Good point
We live 2 hours away from Dutch Wonderland from our home in Marlton, NJ. We went by Dutch Wonderland, but haven’t been there. Also, if you’re ever hungry for a buffet, go to Shady Maple in East Earl, PA. They have really good food and been there for my birthday loads of times. 🐉🐉
Millers was nice too. Never went to sgady maple, but want to go
@@pika23 I've been to Miller's before Pika. You definitely go to Shady Maple if you got the chance.
Loooove Shady Maple! We went to Miller's a few weeks ago, it was fine, but nothing compares to Shady Maple. It is truly remarkable.
Nice
@@ElyseExplosion Me too Elyse!
I couldn't help see the irony in animatronic Amish family scenes.....
Thanks for posting this. My grandparents lived in the area, so they took us there a few times in our childhood.
I remember the park having a more fairy tale theme, with recreations of fairy tales in the windows, instead of Amish scenes. Also, there was a boat ride in the rear of the park, that took you past nursery rhyme characters.
I remember milking the cow and going in the Wonder House. You were right, the house does spin around you, while you remain stationary.
There used to be a really cool log flume ride, that had a tunnel you would go under, after the last drop.
Pretty interesting about the Cartoon Network motel. I'm going to have to learn more about that. I wonder if that's on the old Wax Museum property? It's been years since I've been back. Miss ol' Route 30!
Glad i'm nit the only one that remembers the log flume 😅 I thought I was mistaken for a minute. Never rode it when I was a kid though
I remember in the 90s there were different architectural models of famous landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and tower of Pisa back with the gondola ride along with a little Ferris wheel
The look on your face when you said "That was unnecessary." 😂😂😂 And then BAGGERS HERE!!! 😂 I've also got my fingers crossed for more of that Cartoon Network hotel. As usual, good job.
Dunno how long you're in the area, but Roots (pronounced "Ruts") Farmer's Market is open Tuesdays. Get yourself a stickybun for the road. :9
I probably will never be able to visit that area, but if I ever did, I'm glad I will know how to pronounce it. Thanks.
Another great park, and with a monorail, you got pretty soaked Jacob, luckily beautiful weather, another 👍🏻vlog , Thankyou x 😁
If you're gonna visit Bubba Bear and the Badland Band at Dutch Wonderland, you gotta see Rocky and the Railroad Ramblers at Gillian's Wonderland Pier. They're made by the same company only Rocky and the Railroad Ramblers is a Pizza Time Theatre retrofit!
Rocky and the Railroad Ramblers was retrofitted by different people, Sally only produced and programmed showtapes for them
@@themr_meisterr9884 that’s what I meant, which is why I still said it’s a pizza time theatre retrofit
Thanks for making these videos they are a godsend.
Dutch: "I have a plan!" Arthur: "What is it now, Dutch?'
That is an awesome place. Great video. Thank you for sharing. Stay safe. Stay blessed
Every time we went to Lancaster, my parents would take me to Dutch Wonderland. That was back in the 1970's. I loved that place...
1970s* No apostrophe in plurals. :-P
@@englishatheart yes there is !!!
Damn, Jacob, you’re really hitting it out of the park. So to speak.
my 5 year old loves your videos he watches them with me all the time
Good and Plenty for Amish home style food and service.
I was disappointed there wasn't a dark ride or walk through haunted attraction.
This park is really meant for little kids...Hershey or Dorney have stuff for adults. Dark rides and all...and are within an hour of driving.
Damn,I always used to go there as a kid. This was a real nostalgia trip for me.
i think the amish quilting animatronics bought a tear to jacobs eye.
I wish you made it to Dutch Wonderland last year, because last year was the last year of the Astroliner spaceship, one of the best rides ever at Dutch Wonderland.
It may return ;)
I've never seen this place before so this was cool. I had my fingers crossed that there was a Dutch Dark Ride, but no luck I guess.
As a Dutch person, this was curious
*I SWEAR THAT DRAGON SAID HEY WHATS UP AFTER YOU SAID HEY BUDDY ON THE MONORAIL* 🚝
Maybe not..but I heard sum like it 😂 😂
Wow, been a long time since I've been here, used to go all the time as a kid. Still have their dragon mascot as a plush somewhere lol. Thanks for the video!
OMG IVE been desperate for you to come to our neck of the woods forever 🥲
I may be mistaken but At 21:10 I believe the dinosaur is doing a great vocal impersonation of 1970's Godzilla.
Oh my stars, "That was unnecessary" 🤣🤣🤣 I don't know how you didn't swear 🤣🤣 loved the Baggers here too, you are So loved Carpetbagger 💖💖💖
I love PA! Such a pretty state with fun amusement parks and attractions!
You should go to Storybook Land, I love it so much till this day, especially all the fairytale animatronics 😭❤️
It’s so much FUN to ride along with you, Jacob. Your commentary and videography are so good. Thanks! Have a great Summer! 👍 🇺🇸 ♥️
We prefer to pronounce it Lank-is-Ter here in our area. Lol
I always wanted to go here as a kid, I kinda want to go here now even though I'm 36... With no kids
Do it 🙂
Me to and I'm older than you. 😂
I do all the time and I’m 45!! Never too old!!
My family and I have been there so many times over the years. We’ve all grown up and retired and moved away,, so it was so nice to see it once again.
Loving this run of theme parks, large and small 👍
Wow! I am so loving your little amusement park series. Thanks!
Growing up 30 min east of Lancaster, Dutch Wonderland was a fun place for the whole family. I remember the boat ride had a Flintstones theme. I'll put my two cents for restaurant recommendations: Miller's buffet is the best!
It's great park for little kids also it's been awhile since I was there
It's cool to see how much has changed since I was a kid.
Oh and… love the random hum you did at 18:14. Classic.
Thank you Jacob, we always enjoy your videos. I am Dutch but I live in the U.S so it's always interesting to see a Dutch reference popping up! Although in this case I think it might have more to do with the Pennsylvania Deutsch. (German settlers) Much appreciated looking forward to the next one!
No apostrophe in plurals. It's "videos." No hate meant, just letting you know, as I see it all the time. As a writer, I'm super annoying about it. 😂
@@englishatheart Thanks, I fixe'd it. (
2 great places to visit in pa American treasure tour museum in oaks, old sled works in duncannon
honestly, depends on the Amish person. really strict sects, they generally don't like photos but might consent if asked. the Amish family I know...they're a little less strict, and have more dealings with the outside world through the father's tack business...but they don't have a ton of modern electronics in their house, just the phone in Danny's workshop. The buggies in most Amish communities I've been through have battery operated turn signals attached too...for everyone's safety.
I mean, it's generally good practice and good manners to ask before taking someone's photo anyway...
I definitely agree with asking first. I live out here and sometimes its ok to take pictures if your a tourist but other times its plain weird. You wouldn't want someone taking pictures of your kids while there at school or while there playing outside but for some reason it is common practice for people to do that to the amish. Always try to ask first and think of the inverse. Now if they are in buggies they usually don't care as long as your not overly impeding traffic or trying to ride next to them to "get a better shot".
“There goes the monorail”. Oops! Sorry. Wrong RUclipsr lol 😂
I said the same thing when I saw it so you're not alone. Adam has so many great phrases.
Enjoy your Carnival videos Please keep them coming Thanks
Panda bears do eat honey when it is available, I googled it and learned something new! Btw you have to try Shady Maple, it's a really great Amish buffet...we drive from NY for the day whenever we can, so worth it
You are correct about the Wonder House. Now I have not been in it for many decades, but you would sit on a swinging bench. The room would then start to rotate and in no time, you are clinging to the bench because you start to feel as if the bench is turning upside down while the room is standing still. You hold on for dear life thinking you are the one going upside down.
Wonder House is a haunted swing. Yes, it gives the illusion of the room revolving over and under you, while the seating section moves less than 50 degrees. If you go to Six Flags New England, they have one named Houdini - the Great Escape. The later is a Madhouse model by Verkona.
They have a similar attraction at Clark’s Trading post in NH as well
I haven't been to Dutch Wonderland since I was a kid. Many years later in 2014, my aunt drove by on the way to Hersheypark and the castle entrance seemed smaller than it originally seemed.
I can’t believe that this place is still open. I have been in the Wonderhouse. Last time I was there was early 70’s. At least money was poured into it to keep it going
Hey thanks for SHARING, I always wanted to go there as a little kid but unfortunately never got there. 😁👋
Thanks for the memories Jacob !!! I had a blast ✌🙂
I used to work there as a ride operator they treat their employees like shit and barely pay us and we can go hours in the sun without a break or a water refill definitely one of the worst jobs I’ve ever had
@1:20 mono means one and rail means rail
Make sure you get some scrapple it’s really good.
I love the bit where you can control the dinosaurs movements, that's just awesome 😍
I was there once as a kid...didn't remember much about it, was wondering if it still existed. Would love to go back there again...Strasburg Railroad Museum, Choo-Choo Barn (the entire Lancaster area in miniature), Good 'n Plenty Restaurant (family style dining).
Most Amish don't allow their picture to be taken, but the more progressive sometimes do.
"That was unnecessary." just killed me...
I haven't been here since I was a kid. The smell of the cave on the log flume was always wild.
When the boat on the purple dragon ride would go in the cave the dragons egg used to be in there and it use to scare me when I was younger because I thought the dragon was mad at me for being close to the egg 😅
Oh wow! Thank you for visiting this place, I loved it as a kid.
Bizarre.... I like it.
These small parks always hit the nail right on the head.
It's funny the most technological section of the park is the Amish dioramas.
The purple dragon looks like it’s about to vomit.
Very fun watching this! Thanks for uploading man, i am from the Netherlands, and i honestly love watching you visit all those museums and parks in the USA! 😊
I have been watching your videos for a long time and love every one.
So awesome to see him at places so close to me
Jacob, have you ever lost a Croc on a ride?
I have never heard of this amusement park before, but now I want to go to it 😃!
Used to live in this area, visited the park several times back in the early 2000's. Fun little spot.
always nice to see you enjoying pa
What a cute park 😁👍
My grandparents took me and my brother every year starting in the late 70's.I went back as an adult and was so surprised how small it was compared to my memories.I know that happens all the time but this one was drastic to me.Still love the place.
Great, as always.
What a throwback! I’m from Maryland and I have very good memories of this place when I was a small child
great channel!
Ive been there twice and yes you were correct about the house. You sit as it rotates around you. Pretty cool.
Not what I expected when I heard it was "Dutch" Wonderland but interesting all the same. Keep Safe❤Keep Well ❤
And yes the amish dont like getting there pics taken amish country is a great place to come and visit I want to go back to Dutch Wonderland!
The Amish believe that there is no good reason for a photograph, and that it is just vanity. Or so I was told by them.
Now I kind of agree with that, looking at all the selfies swirling on the internet.
Beautiful old-style park again Jacob. Although so far, half through the video, I haven't encountered much to explain why it is "Dutch" wonderland. Quickly on with the second half!
Sitting on the front row of a dive and splash show Jacob, and looking very surprised and sad when it is all over! Very funny!
Most likely called Dutch Wonderland because Lancaster is known s "Amish Country", and the Amish speak Dutch (and English). Please don't come at mw if anyone finds me wrong 😅
@@hooves2noodles_art That's nice to know Kat, thank you!
Amazing! I work right up the street. And live in Lancaster County!
I used to go to Dutch wonderland all the time with my grandparents! I loved it so much it was my favorite part of summer vacation 😊
Well... That was not what i expected from a park called Dutch wonderland.
Park mainly for little kids pretty much
The Dino with the buttons has excactly the same roar as Godzilla
I was chased by a possum in KY. visiting my grandma!! That animated one in your opening is giving me nightmares,!!! They are NOTHING to play with!!Love and Respect Tamsen Roberts in Riverside California...
Fun video, looks like the paparazzi caught up to you there.
Enjoyed replay thanks 😊
Oh my god that’s so cool
I grew up about ninety minutes away and DW was an absolute treat to go to.
NICE! I have to dig up some pics of me there in 1972 with my family, I was 5. Can not believe it's still open...almost 50 yrs later.
Watching this- i learned some things i didnt know before about the place. Ive been visiting the area since I was a baby, so I was kinda excited when I saw this video pop up. Also currently writing an article about the area of PA. Anywho... Great vid! I miss vacationing in Lancaster
Love the exploration island! !!
Used to take my kids to Dutch Wonderland 4-5 times every summer..But it lost some of its old timey feel when Hershey bought it!
"Chief Halftown" used to be there on the weekends!
The Wonder House spins upside down and makes you very DIZZY!
I live close to Hershey Park, on the opposite side of Lancaster County, but this is a great little park for young kids. Dorney Park is about 50 or so miles which is a good park for older teens. Then there are Knobles and six flags not more than 80 miles which are great parks for families. As is Hershey Park, which is about 40 miles. Lots of great parks less than 100 miles away in this region.
Very cool place!!
