- Come take a tour of our fully renovated 2021 Grand Design Momentum 397TH-R! We purchased this used toy hauler RV in December of 2021 from a private party, and quickly got to work turning it into our home on wheels. We painted pretty much every surface, added real wood finishes, totally transformed the garage into our master bedroom and office, and converted the original master bedroom into our boy's bedroom.
We live and travel in our RV full time, exploring all the amazing places America has to offer. This video was filmed about a month after we started our journey, and as I type this, we have now been on the road for over 5 months! Time sure does fly!
My apologies for the shakiness of the camera and blown out highlights in some spots. We were still learning our new Sony camera, and didn't have the image stabilization turned on.

Great work! We've been on the road with our family of 4 and dog in a 24' camper van (don't ask me how) and just purchased a truck so we can upgrade to a 5th wheel. WOW 😳 totally awesome!! The only thing I would of done a little different is.... small L shaped couch.. and only use the bench side for the kiddos to eat dinner table..;) love it! ♥️♥️♥️

I had a toy hauler quite a few years ago. I get tempted to buy one again someday. The "toy" area makes a perfect office space / rec room when you have one with a separate "garage" like you have.

Thanks! We just removed the boxy valances and reinstalled the original blackout shades that were already there.
I love it!!! We get our GD toy hauler at the end of the month so excited for projects!! When you put your target coat rack up in the master bedroom what type of screws did you use to screw into the outside wall? My hubby is nervous to screw into the exterior wall! Also how did you hang your Turkish towel holder with the pocket door behind it in the main bathroom?
I would also like to know what kind of screws you used for hooks and racks that have to hold weight on exterior walls. Thanks.
Just started watching your channel and saw the strap around the Dyer and was wondering if it helped the shaking of the camper. And what’s it hooked to. Thanks
It was more to help keep it from banging forward into the door on travel days. We had the strap screwed into the wall, but it pulled loose after a couple months, and we never replaced it. It's been fine without it.
Wow beautiful workmanship. Really like what you’ve done. Do you have any issue with lack of insulation in the toy hauler? Is that are portion too hot or too cold?
Thank you so much! No, we haven't had any issues. Our A/C works great at keeping us cool in the summer, and we have space heaters as well as the furnace that have kept us toasty even down to 9 degrees Fahrenheit!
Subscribed! My wife and I are planning to do full time RV for 1-2 years as we monitor housing market. You have a beautiful setup and I’m hopeful we can ask several questions as we enter this new life. First step, selecting a toy hauler. Any thoughts on why you selected Momentum over other brands/models? We are torn between the Momentum 350G, 320G, 340M and Raptor 352, Fuzion 373 and Fuzion Impact 359. Must be under 40’. ;)
Awesome! Y’all are going to love it! What made it helpful for us was touring different models and looking at the fit & finish. At the time, we were considering Grand Design Momentum’s, Alliance, and DRV. Ultimately, the layout of the 397th was best for us, so that is what we went with. This was also during a time where rigs were hard to come by (end of 2021). All things considered, every rig will have problems and knowing how to fix most of them will come in handy while full-timing. Make sure you’ve got a good set of tools you can take with you and some spare parts and you should be golden!!! Good luck and don’t hesitate to reach out with more questions!
Love Love this great work!! One question what brackets or what is holding the table up? Connects table to the wall. I have the fold down done on my table but trying to figure out what and how to connect to the wall.

It looks wonderful! I’m curious as to how much you all weigh when fully loaded? We’re currently renovating ours and I’m try to be mindful of what weight we lose and how much we add!
We're close to capacity. We're really careful about what we bring in now, and have sent items back to our parents' houses when they've visited us on the road. I would advise you not to add too much wood, because that's where most of our weight was added.

Do you have a video of how you did the bunk beds and got mattresses to fit? We are wanting to do the same thing.
Not yet, but I can work on one. I have all the footage from that, but just haven't gotten around to putting it together.

Thank you! We used the existing support from the table that came with the RV, and basically just replaced the table top.
@@McVeyMcFarm interesting! We have a 2021 397TH and I have already had to change out the hardware connecting to the wall and while park I use a support rod to help.
Ok so now that I know all the groceries and cleaning supplies you have. Lol. The basics would have been nice for some of us. You forgot about the sock drawer. JK
Haha! The sock drawer is in the top of the dresser in our bedroom/office in the back, and the boys each have their own in their dresser.
What color are your kitchen cabinets?
This works because you are so organized. Love the white, wish more RVs would go to white instead of ugly browns, tans, and creams.

It’s just the one that came with the RV.

Thank you! It is our main home! We sold our house in Florida and live and travel full time in our RV. We don't have a stopping date in mind yet. :-)

I know I already responded to you on Facebook, but I’ll post the answer here as well, in case someone else has the same question. All paint is by Benjamin Moore. Walls are Chantilly Lace, upper cabinets are Cloud Cover, and lower cabinets and island are CW-640.

We use that bathroom as little as possible. Only really in the middle of the night. Otherwise we use the main bathroom.

We put our litterbox in a similar place and I've found that it smells SO bad in an enclosed area like that. Do you not have the same issue?
No, not at all. It never smelled. Even if we missed a day or two of cleaning it. Maybe your opening was too big?
Our kiddos have 2 years ( 24 months left of school). My question is what kind of work does your family do to generate income on the road?
We have some investment properties that we get rental income from.

It’s the couch that came with the RV. ☺️

Haha, well this one is to dry dishes not strain water out of food. So I think it’s a collapsible drying rack, but I was having a brain fart moment. 😆
Where do you keep the kittys litter box???
We built a custom dinette bench with a space for a litter box inside. If you watch our renovation video it shows it.
How is your cat doing with camper living. We are considering taking ours with us this fall. If he tolerates it
Ha adjusted perfectly. As long as he’s with us, he doesn’t care where he lives. He even learned how to climb the ladder to get up onto our bed at 15 years old. 😄

Looks Great, will definitly add this to our ideas pile . I just have to say as Biblical women we need to be careful about subtle jabs at our husbands especially with many watching even if it seems harmless. We are all learning (the whole body of Christ) and what a blessing it is . May the Lord bless your family and keep you safe on your travels :)
