    I was so sad when this video ended... it was so good! Your videos are very wonderful and I am so thankful that you didn't give up on your dreams and that you kept trying. Your story was very inspiring for me since I am trying very hard to use my channel and my blog as a was to help become financially independent. I am very passionate about my brand and serving my small group of followers, though things have been quite rough lately as I've been feeling a bit hopeless. :(
    But I'll keep trying so that one day I can have a story like this to tell and inspire others! :)
    Once again, great video!

    • @Sazan
      @Sazan  7 лет назад +16

      Don't be sad!! If this makes you feel any better - sometimes it's just the season the internet is in that can cause slow growth to your numbers and reach. I've learned this after YEARS of having up and downs. As long as you're persistent and focusing and strategizing ways to keep your readers happy and engaged - that is key!!!

    • @TheMagicCrafter
      @TheMagicCrafter 7 лет назад +4

      Thank you. :) My numbers are actually growing steadily in terms of viewers, though I'm struggling to get started with earning an income from my content. I originally hoped to incorporate affiliate marketing into my blog and channel, however I have now discovered that COPPA regulations may prevent me from being able to do so. I am a "mermaid" and thus tend to attract a younger crowd even when targeting an older audience. It is frustrating, but I will continue to do what I love and find out how to go about supporting my brand financially in other ways.
      Thanks again for the reply, and for the video! I will do my best to keep my fan base happy and to help them see the magic in this world. The rest can be figured out later. :D

    I seriously believe that you are one of the MOST genuine social media influencers I follow. I love your honesty and how you are yourself at all times. I was wondering if you would genuinely advise other people who are interested in becoming a blogger even though it seems as if there are SO MANY of the same type of social media influencers and they all produce the same content. I have a blog currently that I have had for about two and a half years that has been more so just rambling thoughts but I want to make the plunge of transforming it but feel discouraged because they is just SO much competition. Again, love you! Stay true and genuine it is highly contagious!

    Sazan, thank you so much for this video. This was so inspiring!! As a new youtuber and also a Christian, I loved hearing how you prayed and asked God to guide you, and He did. Your hard work has paid off and it's so encouraging to myself and so many. I'd love to see more videos on this topic, or more tips on how to grow your channel. Thanks again!

    Wow I don't even know where to start! That really touched my heart! I worked as a host before and always thought in the back of my head why I never fully pursued it (probably fear). But then when you said having your Blog & channel bring you so much more joy and fulfillment - I was like preach! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for encouraging us girls and just other female creators to keep going and stop listening to the noise. This has been my year of just jumping and it's been incredible. Even tho my channel is small the victory is in actually going for it. You're amazing and I can't wait to see what your next business venture is!!! ❤️

    Girl! I came to see you at the grove at a simply stylist event. I sat there and absorbed everything you told the group. At the time I was stressed by quality of my pictures and my blog and RUclips channel. I left the event inspired by you and I bought a planner and mapped out my blog posts and videos and started on this journey. Let me tell you there were days and times I quit and stay away for weeks and months feeling discouraged and then I would hear that voice saying to keep going. I just can't quit I keep coming back. So I'm here this time staying consistent and focused on content and my community versus numbers. Thankfully I've seen tremendous growth and lots of exciting things happening. This video inspired me even more. Thank you for being my blog fairy! Truly! Never give up!

    This is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you Sazan, your words are definitely motivating. To be honest I am not an aspiring blogger (although I have thought about starting one) I am an aspiring and hopefully soon to be nursing student. I know this is left field from the subject of blogging but I felt that I could relate to your experiences. After graduating with a BS in Kinesiology, I felt so proud of receiving my bachelors as I was the first generation college graduate in my family. But then I became lost and unsure if this was the path I wanted to go. I didn't like the feeling of "just settling" and the thought of going back to school made me feel like I would just be backtracking and starting all over after all the hard work and money I spent and loans I have created for myself. I was so discouraged and felt disappointed in myself. After watching this and listening to your journey and experiences shows really how human you are. I appreciate the realness you have shared. Just like your overall goal was to just help others is exactly what I hope to do in the nursing field. I know it really is about staying focus on your goals and everything does take time. Again, thank you for sharing, You truly are an inspiration! And I know many feel the same way and express it but if you're reading this, you are the only blogger I have ever commented on lol you have let me open up and express a little of my own struggles. Wishing you many more years of success xoxo

      You seem like such a gem! I've learned when struggles come your way that usually means a blessing is right around the corner, so stick it out babe! Whether being a nurse is in your path or not, I can tell you're passionate about having a successful future doing what you LOVE and that is the right MINDSET! I seriously think you have all the ingredients, just keep pushing forward and know that I'm rooting for you!

    Sazan, thank you. I am in tears watching this. I am 23 from a small town in Illinois now living in NY having those same feelings about my dream career in entertainment pr as you had when you got to LA. I started a blog in Dec 2015 after I had graduated college and moved back home to hopefully inspire some other young girls my age going through the same things as me. Now, it is still just a hobby. A few weeks ago, I found out my job (not a fan of) wasn't extending my contract and I have been persistent in my job search since. I truly feel like you just spoke directly to me. I am going to continue to pray and ask God, but I feel like my blog is where he wants me to put my focus. I had never heard of you or your blog until I stumbled upon this video, so I know this message came directly from God through you. Thank you for sharing your story. It has truly inspired me to give it a shot.

    Could you talk about the time you lived with your parents? My parents are kurdish too and they are really strict... Like I have lost a lot of my friends bc of this... I just really want a youtuber from the same culture to talk about what most of us kurds are going thru... I know you focus on fashion and stuff like that most of the time, but it would be nice. I really look up to you Sazan. You are so inspiring!

    this is exactly where I am in my life. like I'm trying something and nothing is happening and I feel so defeated and at a stand still...it's like trying to start is the hardest part because of the negativity and the lack of support from people whom are close to you. I started watching your series, be your own boss and that was got me thinking about having a blog and a RUclips channel and having my own career that wasn't so conventional. this video came at a great time, almost like an answer! keep doing it because your inspiration for all of us.

    Hey Sazan,
    I only just discovered you online, but glad I did. Babe congrats with your success and most importantly honesty about your journey and own insecurities. I needed to watch this video today. i'm kinda the opposite to you been doing the whole traditional host for big companies for awhile wanting to in the back of my mind do my own thing. Blog and make cool creative vids. Been a few months and trust me when I say it's been a culture shock in so many ways. I'm used to being connected and being great at stuff, now I'm learning and having to almost start again. The blogging world is very different to the music and entertainment world. Also I find a lot of bloggers hiding behind their pictures and not really being honest almost pretending to have this perfect life. I have always been about being real and give tips on style and what I'm into, but not in away where young girls that support me feel their lives are crap. Hearing your thoughts and sisterhood vibe is so refreshing. Sorry for this longgggg message... lol! Thanks babe would be cool to connect at some point. Max x

    ugh Saz I love you. You're so lovely and I can relate so much to you, even in the aspect of being a Kurdish female born in the "western world". Others presume that there are a lot of cultural barriers, especially negativity from your community in western society and it's the absolute worst. God's been very grateful with giving me such a supportive mom who's always encouraging me to chase my dreams and wants, whatever that may be. Unfortunately, thats led me to have to detach myself from the Kurdish community where I'm from, but it's for the best. P.S- I'm literally in tears by the end of this video. Being relatable is so important and I think thats why your following keeps growing! Best of luck to you mama

      Been there too! There have been times I've prayed and it hasn't always been an instant response from the Man upstairs! One time I told Steve, "How come God isn't answering me???" and Steve hit it right on the mark by telling me that sometimes God's silence is also the answer to a prayer. It made me think, huh? He went on to say that, sometimes God has already told you what you need to do but you won't listen until it's the answer you want to hear. That hit my spirit so deep!!! Whether that's the case for you or not, you're doing the right thing by seeking wisdom from above. I will be praying for you and I hope this video was also a sign from above to help guide you in any way!!!

    I decided to drop out of college about 20 days ago and I was crying then I found your video and you just touched me in every aspect because some women have such a great vision for such a small world and only the ones who dare to change the world will taste the last drops of failure to open doors to others. Just thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    I accidentally stumbled upon this video, and I'm SO glad that I did. I'm about 3 weeks from graduating college and I'm feeling so overwhelmed and lost; I'm completely uncertain about what to do with my degree, and I feel like my major isn't the path I'm being called to follow. (Which is not a great feeling when you've spent 4 years on one thing that you *thought* was your dream.) Thank you so much for your honesty. This was exactly what I needed to hear.

I just started putting pictures up on my IG and was thinking of doing a blog but felt like everything and just anything is holding me back. Listening to your video has just open my mind, and made me realize what I truly love and have a passion about. God never seizes to amaze me and putting you in my path is just another way of his amazing works. You are such an inspiration and from the bottom of my heart , thank you! 😚😚😚

    You know Sazan I tried to make it in that industry too, I got into Miss California and other beauty pageants- I even did some commercials..but it never took a serious turn, I never got a full time job in Hollywood and I prayed and prayed and Looking back now I felt that God protected me because it's such a disgusting poisonous industry. I feel like most Christians don't make it in Hollywood because it would require us to do things against our beliefs. I've often heard of all the awful things people do to get famous- things that Christian people cant and won't do. I think God protected you from the nasty claws of Hollywood just as He protected me. It has all worked out for the best!💋 may God continue blessing you!! My Instagram is Jesuischela, in case you ever want to know more. But I'm praying for you, love you sister in Christ.💋

    Sazan, it was ABSOLUTELY NO MISTAKE that I came across your video today. I have been experiencing some of the same fears and doubts that you ONCE had. I can't tell you how much inspiration and encouragement I've received from your heartfelt sincere expressions. I'm just literally blown away, because it just feels like you were speaking directly to me. I too believe God does things for us that we don't always understand, or think that we want, or think that WE'RE READY for...but, I tell you THIS HERE - was...no IS a confirmation for me. Thank you soooooo much. You're so beautiful and authentic, and I'm glad God allowed me to find your space!!! PEACE!!!

    Months ago I got the idea (maybe it was God who put it there) to start a blog. I prayed and I asked God is this from you? (I'm getting teary) I'm kinda scared and I don't know how to start. Lately through preachings at church or messages at bible studies, I feel like God has confirmed me to do it. And I take this video as another confirmation. I am in community college and I haven't decided what I want to major. I don't know if there is a major that would help me if I do start a blog. But anyways so I feel maybe since I haven't decided, that God maybe does want me to blog and focus on that. Thank you so much for sharing! Love you! xoxo

    I have a question. Do you think that it's worth it to start a blog in 2016? I think it's really hard nowadays..

    • @Sazan
      @Sazan  7 лет назад +65

      Honestly in 2016 having a blog is important (because YOU own it) but keeping in mind that it's a platform just like FB, IG, Twitter, & RUclips. Depending on the season I'm in sometimes I strategically focus my attention on one platform more than another to see change/growth. It all comes down to strategy! So yes! Having a blog totally credits you in so many ways, but try to water each platform in a unique way when you can!

      I think that the best time to start a blog is yesterday. There is no one right time to do it and that time is not the same for everyone. If you are doing something that you are passionate about then you will find a way to make money from what you are doing. It's all about believin cuz if you believe it makes it real. I can tell you from my own experience that it is a lot of hard work but so much fun and exciting. Just do it! At least you tried.

It's so so amazing to see a successful Kurdish woman in this industry and although I am more in the medical field, I am still so so proud of you. Hi Sazan! First off, I want to say that I love your style and I love what you stand for. I've been following you since you and Stevie were engaged and I cannot give you enough congrats for all you've accomplished both in your business and personal life. I have been running my blog The Sweltering Sweater for almost three years now and I am wondering how you developed strong relationships with companies in order to collaborate? I have found that there are very few companies who are willing to collaborate with fashion bloggers. What do/did you say that was truly convincing to companies and resulted in them taking you seriously?

    I have been blogging for a year now as a hobby. My work work has been slowing down tremendously..I feel it is a sign that I need to grab my blog and hit the ground running with it now that I have more free time. Like you... I am scared. What if I fail? What if nothing comes of it? What if it's a waste of my time? How can I start making money from it?
    question: Is a press kit the same as a media kit? Can you make a video about how to make one and how to approach brands the way you did? the problem I am having is too little traffic and too little followers that I am worried no brand will want to work with me at this stage. Do you have any advice?

    • @Sazan
      @Sazan  7 лет назад +8

      I think the important mindset to have in the beginning is to simply start a blogging and brand yourself without worrying about the "what ifs". Just jump and know that you are going to figure it out as you go! I remember starting my blog for fun and it was a hobby for YEARS, which sometimes is a better route to start than trying to immediately jump into it with the mindset of making money etc. You really have to figure out who your readers are and the best way to do that is building that intimate relationship through a series of unique posts, helpful tips, etc. Hope this helps!!!

Especially after seeing all these successful bloggers making money doing what they love, I know it's possible for me to do as well! But thanks for your response and advice. I hope that you can continue to use your platform to inspire and help other aspiring bloggers like us.

    Love this so much Sazan. I can relate to this 90%...I come from a Middle-Eastern family and did journalism as well, but I felt so defeated after I moved to Sydney, Australia from Chicago since I got married to an Aussie! The market is so intense over here and it's all about who you know and you start questioning yourself and your abilities, but thankfully I have the most supportive husband who does all my photos and is always pushing me to be the best. I started my blog in 2014, but I'm now taking it seriously and being persistent to make it grow as much as possible. But, I want to say you're posts and videos are so motivating to me because I can relate so much and this video came at the perfect timing right when I was feeling defeated. Love your videos Saz & keep them coming!

    Just got home from a VERY long day at work! I crawled into bed and wanted to cry, I then saw that you had uploaded a video and something just told me I had to watch it! I actually graduated from UNT in Denton with a degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and I’m recently working at an Autism center for children. I really like it, it’s amazing to see everything that I learned in school in action! Before this I worked as an Instructional assistant for kindergarteners at an elementary school and I absolutely loved it! I actually took my teaching certification test this summer and passed 4 out of the 5 sections, I was planning on re-taking it (In hopes of becoming a kinder teacher) but everyone kept asking me why I wasn’t doing something with ABA.. -even though ABA can be applied towards typically developing children as well. This made me feel pressured and so put that aside the test and applied for an ABA position. I completely love the kids that I’m working with now, but thinking back at it I had way more fun working at the elementary school. Everything that you said in this video was exactly what I needed to hear! I’m going to pick up my book and study the heck out of the section that I didn’t pass and re-take that test! Thank you so much Sazan!
    Much love -Jennifer
    Btw… Go eagles!

    I just started my blog about a week ago, and I am already in love. I have gone to college once, and I am back in again for a second degree in communication and graphic design. I still haven't known what I wanted to do with it, other than work for myself and be creative, and now that I have become serious about blogging, I can feel it in my heart that it's what I want to do. I know going into it with the mindset of making money and forming a business may not be the right way to think, but I know it's right for me. This video gave me so much confidence to push forward and keep learning. There is so much I still don't know and understand, but I feel like I can move forward after seeing this. You're such an inspiration and I hope to be able to use your videos as almost a mentoring program. Thank you so much for being you!

    Very inspired I needed that! Going through a major transition in my life. After over 10 years of practice as a physician I decided to pursue my artistic interests. My mother said I was breaking her heart which as any immigrant child knows is a big deal. Making youtube videos & starting a health & beauty blog has helped me stay positive as I start training in a new career. If I am honest I am scared & feel vulnerable. People assume at my age & as a doctor I have it all together but like everyone else I am work in progress & trying to trust God.

    Thank you for sharing Sazan. I began following you because of your BYOB videos about a year ago when I decided to start my own IG and YT career. I quickly fell in love with your channel because I could tell you were simply doing what you loved and being you. I later met you at the Chicago Simply Stylist event. I kinda felt like I reacted like a teen meeting her favorite artist and made things a bit awkward, but you were so nice and just went along with it. Honestly I've been having some rough days, and when I watched this video I honestly felt like it is one of God's signs. I also am trying to pursue my career in the broadcasting/media world as a host, but I have been doubting myself and don't know if I should finish this career or focus on something else. Your video has inspired me to stay positive, be patient and most important keep my faith strong. You are a role model for many of us. Thank you for sharing your story. I just wanted to say that I was so blessed and touched by this because for one, I've been going through a season.. a season where I like to call my "Job" season.. my "before season" the season that Job had to go thru in the Bible.. I am going through a divorce.. and a whole lot more.. I literally have no support group but I am pressing in no matter what.. I've had this passion to touch lives and be the vessel to heal hurting heats and souls through God and I believe that God wants part of my ministry to be through blogging but I've been so fearful on how to do it and where to start.. I have a Instagram account on my makeup and it was going well up until I was going thru my divorce.. I just want to say thank you.. you have blessed me more than you can ever know. I am going to step out and kee on trying on this blogging career and keep on with the faith. Xo 💛

    My step-dad, grandpa, teachers and kids at school bullied me, that i'm dumb, worthless, that i could never be somebody...I started to believe them, and became afraid of doing everything in my life, even talking with people was scary...Now after 3 years of tough therapy, i found myself again! I started to love myself more and more, but still i'm a little afraid to be ME, to follow MY dreams, now that i'm 38, it's more difficult to get successful...I always have hope, but at first i had to survive, now that im save, i have to learn how to fight for myself...
