    There are always generalizations I make to simplify these photo and gear concepts, but sometimes I miss an important note. In this video I said I prefer bolt snaps over shackles but didn't mention that shackles are much smaller and less clunky on the housing than bolt snaps. So if you plan to leave your lanyard attached to housing mounts (and not strobe arms where you have to remove the lanyard to spread out the strobes once in the water), then they would be my preferred option. Anyways, what type of lanyard do you prefer?

    DIY!!!! Specially for us in Argentina, where all the beautiful and practical little things are virtually impossible to get due to importation restrictions

      That’s a great reason for DIY gear! Even here, it’s so much cheaper to make something like a lanyard while also making it more custom to how I use it.

      Great suggestion. I refer everyone to the article linked below from Backscatter Photo and Video. It does a fantastic job talking through the subject and providing all the options:

    Would a 3 point lanyard be better so that the setup port is not pointing downward?

      @BrentDurand  Год назад +1

      If I understand correctly, does your camera hang port-down? By clipping the strobe arms, the system is like a pendulum and should hang level. Or, use the handle clips that Sea&Sea and Nauticam include, and with strobes pulled in close and clamped tight, it should also hang level.
