Let me just put your mind at ease. You guys were unsure about baggage handlers… I guarantee 99% of them will be rough with it at some point. I recommend marking your checked luggage in large letter with something fun like “BAGGAGE HANDLERS ARE SEXY” or something fun for them. That can make the difference in how they handle your bag. I’ve worked with a lot of baggage handlers and ramp rats before. I’m 100% in agreement that you need a change of clothes in your carryon luggage. Matthias it looks like we’ve got the same suitcase except mine is banana yellow. You can always tell if it makes it into the plane because it’s so ugly no one else would buy it.

Thanks for the great advice. I would like to add something that no one ever mentions. I traded my Canon with Ikalite housing to a much smaller Sony RX100IV and a Nauticam housing because they will fit in those tiny safes you find in hotels.

Can you make a video about affordable charter locations and the best places to travel for diving?

As allways great video guys. Funny coincidence that You have just uploaded this Video because I am packing right now for my trip to the Maledives on Saturday! I do not have this expensive gear, I will travel with a Go Pro. I will have everything "expensive and easy to damage in my hand luggage. Like Laptop, the Camera it selve etc. BUT for me on a diving trip the most important item I will never put out of my hands (again I do not have thousands of dollars worth of cameras) is my Regulator. I am totally fine using rental BCDS or fins or even wetysuits, but the regulator I am picky and If my bagege would be lost I will not dive with a rented Regulator. So I alway carry my regulator in hand!

I’ll have to check out the Cinebags. I transport everything in a Pelican Air w/ Trek Pack padding. Easy to configure and efficient organization. Lid has an organizer in it for arms, clamps, and other accessories.

I see you pack your carry on stuff in Pelican Air 1535, did you actually bring that as a hand carry or that’s for checked in luggage?

    1. I GPS track my luggage, so airlines can’t say they don’t know where it is. 2. I have a copy of my passport & itinerary in each piece of luggage & carry on bags . (This tip saved my parents & a friend on their France trip as their luggage with their actual passport was stolen out of the car.) 3. When diving I always have my regulator, dive computer, GoPro & electronics in my carry on bags. Because of this my dad jokes that my carry on weighs more than my suitcase. 😂 4. I have a set of clothes, medicine & food too. TSA tries to argue with me that I don’t need to pull all my electronics out but if I don’t they ALWAYS have to hand search my bags even though I’m in the Global Traveler program.

Off topic but does anyone have recommendations for breath control at the thermocline. When my face hits the cold water I start huffing and puffing. If the water is cold all the way through I'm good. Lake Erie shore dive, 50 min, 43F all good.
