Great Work..I have 2 SPL 12s that the spider has come unglued..nothing broken,massive sub,just setn a few years an the glue didn't last..do I need to tear them down an rebuild, or reglue them..an wut glue u recommend..I can send pics thru txt or email..thnx

I'm not interested in looking at my sub; I'm more interested in HEARING/FEELING it. I like the w7s ability to get low but also the SQ aspects of it. I primarily listen to Metal/Classic rock but I like to play around w/ Hiphop every now and then. I will definitely be doing a sealed enclosure. Did ported years ago, not really my jam.

Do you measure and provide specs for each woofer individually? Interested in 12" similar to the old atomic i used to run. I still have the basket and motor. It wasn't high power but 99 dB 1w@1m efficiency

I know off topic but have ever replaced regular ferrite magnets on a motor with multiple slug magnets with identical height and if so does have any improved performance ??? I was going try on a random beater sub to see if any changes
On a 12db/octave crossover, when you go from 4ohm to 8 ohm, the cap value halves but the inductor value doubles. Because of this, putting an 8ohm driver onto a 4ohm crossover makes for a strange alignment. They will be better served putting a 4ohm resistor in parallel with the 8ohm tweeter to show the crossover something closer to 4ohms.
Also why zobel network works so well, capacitor and resistor in series then parallel across the driver, done right it cancels out the impedance rise and gives more linear crossover control
Aluminum will be fine, coils will be fine most likely for a long time. Steel will rust, and then you gotta spend 3 minutes with some WD-40 and some steel scrubbers... Not that bad lol

What is that red frame sub you have at about 5:27 into the video?? I like that motor and red frame combo Oh snap, and that other red ti basket sub at 5:59 into the video?? Love the look of both of those subs. Both motors look to be decent size as well. Always a fan of the ti basket and that other 1 looks like tge basket incriminator used on their older model subs

I’m assuming you don’t like JL Audio based on your finger comment. I’ve always ran JL Audio from their very basic to their top end. I’ve never had an issue with any of their subs and some of my systems I would push them hard with Rockford Fosgate amps which I find they respond to very well. I utilize JL amps when I’m building a system more for the best overall sound quality. But I also don’t drive BMW or Mercedes vehicles either lol.

I drive a Ford Diesel crew cab truck and have been running car audio since 1991. I’ve ran everything from JL, RF, Orion HCCA Cerwin Vega and the older Boston Acoustic for an example. I love RF amps for their attack, loudness and punch. I loved Orion HCCA amps for their pure underrated cheater power lol. RF subs are great but I love JL subs because they are so clean sounding and are fully capable of putting a hurt in ya if setup properly. I definitely do agree that they are way overpriced. I’m hoping that will be resolved once they are fully integrated into the Garmin family.
@@RobotUnderground wow i haven’t been to Walmart in a long time. Can’t believe they’d stoop that low. They pulled a kicker! My W0 and W3 series from the 90’s were very good and clean. I’ll be honest I haven’t utilized any of their lower tier subs since the early 2000’s so I can’t honestly claim anything about them now. Just hoping that Garmin purchasing JL does good and not bad and helps lower the cost. Garmin produces some really good high end equipment so it’s a match well made.

My alpine type r i rebuilt broke immediately because i soldered the tinsel leads too tight on one coil and they pulled off. Arg
