- I decided it would be a great idea to load my 2021 RAM 3500 onto my little 1999 GMC 3500 for a video, and so I'd have a ride home after delivering it to Copart. Well, it didn't go well. Watch to see what happens!

Rule of thumb Randy, never slide the bed all the way out and then tilt, also never tilt the bed back down with it slid out.
What you want to do is slide the bed out maybe 1/4 out and then tilt it down until the feet touch the ground then you can finally slide the bed all the way out.
By doing what you did you put ALOT of stress in the hydraulic cylinders.

I feel better now that I know that the actual frame of the C3500HD was most likely up to the task, but not the Jerr-Dan bed 😂😂 if she had been about 2 foot longer and better hydraulics! Probably without leaks too lol but now it’s easy to understand why most tow trucks nowadays are legitimate medium duty trucks to comfortably handle bigger beds and stronger hydraulics. There are way more SUVS and family 4 door trucks on the road. A lot has changed in the US street scape since this tow truck was put together. That HD chassis still a tough old girl though

I'm so glad you didn't haul that ram on the tow truck because you probably would have laid it over in a curve or sharp turn because that ram is so big and heavy and that would be been a disaster. Glad you and the tow truck are ok. I
Yeah but tow trucks tow 2500s all the time with no issues.
Hey Randy, you could’ve told your Dodge on that flatbed you had a short chain the J hooks and put them behind the tires and hook them inside the frame and pull it up and then make sure you put chains on the rear. I drove a tow truck for 13 years. Keep up the great work.

Yeah that particular tow truck wasn’t made to haul trucks like the Ram. An freight liner and a international diesel truck will do it no problem at all. Also, the bed isn’t long enough for you to bring it all the way to the front off the very edge to bring it down because all the weight on the edge of the bed.
I hauled trucks daily with a Chevrolet rollback, very similar to that truck. Properly loaded and secured, it would handle that load. Lack of training and experience created unnecessary damage to the truck.

I drive a 2018 ram 5500 rollback wit a century 19 foot steel bed and I had a 2020 ram 3500 crew cab short bed with the hemi and I had it all the way forward and it barely did fit but it did fit
broke the welds on the bed.. could see it on the front driver side tire before the back let go.. easy to fix if you know someone that can weld aluminum

At least your personal truck didn't get messed up either but I wouldn't have even tried putting on that flat bed I've looked up the weight for the 2500 ram and 3500 always use caution when halling

You should have done was hook up the truck on top of your trailer and hook up the trailer behind the tow truck and then when you got to the copart yard on hook your trailer on hook your truck hook up the trailer behind your truck and have a safe drive home

My brother in law had a 2011 F250 diesel that the ECU croaked on. Hauled it to the dealer for him on my car hauler and towed with my 94 K2500 6.5L diesel. I figured out in a hurry that it was a heavy son of a bitch and my little K2500 didn't like it one bit. Went about 45 mph the whole way. These modern diesel trucks easily go over 7Klbs, which is pushing it on the OBS platform.

Randy I have a question for u I have a 1996 caravan with a 3 liter v6 and I have a problem with it I have to put gas in it every 5 days and it never did it till I had a worthless car guy that worked on it would puting new wires and coil on it fix the problem

as a semi truck driver, we move over if we can or it makes sense like we have time to move over and move back. often times we don't move over because either our exit is coming up or my favorite game which is guessing wether or not the car will figure out how to merge. its pretty simple. speed up, slow doown, or meet the ditch. remember it's illgal to occupie an already occupied lane. plaine and simple. and i run at 61mph on 70 mph roads, if people enter at 45mph. not my problem. i'll slow down if i can because as a professional driver its my responsability to look out for idiots and protect their saftey. i don't like that part of the job but it is required because when you mess up, i'ts my fault. so just remeber that. when YOU make a mistake, it's MY fault. as a commercial driver. Not right, but lots of things are not right. what do you do?

Think u did Randy letting Copart sell 98 Gmc rollback but terrible idea trying put ur Ram 2500 on flatbed also yea judging by what i can see that International Telephone crane truck got hit haed by tornado definitely not a traffic accident vehicle.
Out of all the vehicles you have you choose to try and load the biggest one you have on the tow truck.
Because loading one of the smaller vehicles you have and using that to get home would make too much sense.
You could of went home and got one of your small cars😂
