This the best video I have seen. He plows and cultivate it at the same time and behind him already ready to plant. Other farmers plows big fields and acres and find it that after a day or 2 the soil is rock hard and the tractor is having trouble going on it. This is the best method!!!

It always amazes me the negative comments by people who don't have an idea of what they're looking at but think they do. Especially the American corn and soy brigade! No-till is not practised in vegetable growing not even in your own country (which I have seen more of than you have) In the US they do lots more passes then us in the Netherlands to establish a vegetable crop, for in this case onions they would moldboard plow, disc (once or twice even) and bedform. Here it is done in two and if the land would have been level enough in one (the pass with the Fendt on duals would not be necesarry). And with virgin soil he means to say that the crop will be planted in soil that hasn't been driven on after ploughing which is the idea behind this setup. Which means better roots and higher yields then doing a seedbed opperation after plowing. The average crop yields are higher then in the US and The Netherlands agricultural exports $102.7 bn are the 2nd largest in the world after the US $140.9 bn on 1/35th the amound of agricultural land then the US! So we must be doing something right, you just don't understand it.

They most certainly do need clutches. The clutch you are referring to is the pedal in the cab, the clutch I am referring to is any clutch inside the transmission. A powershift is full of clutchpacks. Each one of these is a wear part and puts a shock load on the drivetrain. With a CVT there are no clutches to wear out and there are no shock loads either, thus the components can be smaller and last longer.

Judging by what looks to be a Michelin Man riding on the tractors, I would guess they are running Axiobibs or Xeobibs which are both rated for running 5-6psi in the field due to Ultraflex technology. This is a new trend with tire makers, Firestone has started offering some as well. The lower pressures help increase traction and reduce soil compaction. IF/VF tires are designed to handle to added stresses of these low pressures.

  • @jazzyjerseys3331

You may see it that way, but different areas require different practices. Are the small combines Kubota and Claas make stupid because they are small? No, they have their intended purpose for that region. Europeans tend to be ahead of the curve when it comes to equipment technology. American OEM's recognize this and implement their innovations, often with little credit to them. CVT, cab/axle suspension,ABS, air brakes, high speed, high volume tires, front 3pt/pto, and the list goes on.

Perhaps that is why agriculture advanced so much since the dust bowl of the 30's by developing techniques to avoid erosion of the top soil such as crop rotation, fallow fields, contour plowing, cover crops. In fact, plowing will increase the nutrients in the soil and aerate it.

I would just say that perhaps the Roterra could do with being weighted down more. It seems to ride out of the soil and not engaging and working the soil deep enough. But impressive set up otherwise and always good to be able to reduce passes. This does it quite effectively. I guess more weight complicates the turning over and stability when in raised position.

Fendt's Vario CVT is not a hydrostatic drive. It is a planetary gearset direct driven by the engine that uses a variable displacement pump with a swing angle of 45* and two motors with a 45* swing fed by the pump. At slow speeds the hydro's are doing the majority of the work, at higher speeds more restriction is placed on the ring gear of the planetary and the power becomes more mechanically transmitted. This is why it is more reliable and efficient. The 45* swing is their key patent.

The power take offs have clutches. Starting and stopping them at higher engine speeds with a load like that is not going to grenade it. The tractor itself will allow you to program the PTO into the headland management to automatically turn it on and off. I wouldn't reccommend starting it at full throttle when it would be under 100% load right away, but in this case there is very little load on the system. They also have a mode that will shut the PTO off when the 3pt arms are lifted/lowered.

  • @silverblackss

For lower ground pressure and decreased soil erosion. The tracks have about 4 times lower ground pressure than regular tires, thus reducing to minimum the soil damage.

You need to plow 30 cm deep to help the roots of the plant to grow easily into the soil, to penetrate easily the soft soil. Where I'm living we're plowing at 22-25 cm depth because the soil structure is extremely hard and we're trying to speedup a little bit the formation of an early plant before the dryness of the summer. Higher depths are extremely difficult to plow, breaking the furrows easily and overheating the engine and drive line.

  • @RoastedMelons

Where I live there is about 15 cm of topsoil and then clay, which is extremely hard of course. I just read at the start of the video for the first time "Ploughing in 100% virgin soil" I take that to mean a crop has never been planted on it before but I understand from you that this kind of land preparation is done every time before planting?
