    One of the homestead channels a few years ago bought blemished tomatoes for persevering as she hadn't grown enough. Obviously she got them cheaper but maybe worth reaching out to your community and maybe a bit further to see if anyone can use them even the green ones. It would help you not have such a big loss , prevent so much waste, as well as help someone who's not got so much money and would be a blessing for them. I hope this might help. Mother nature is cruel at time but glad you are all safe x

    I'm just glad your buildings and most of all, your homes weren't damaged by the tornado. We've had more hail around here this year than I can remember in a long time.

    Did all those rocks come in with that storm too? LOL I thought my fields were rocky! Hail damage sucks, but it’s amazing to see how certain crops really come out of it eventually with new, vigorous growth. I got hit with a hail storm back in late April, and I had to replant nearly all of my cool weather crops. It delayed my first market by about a month. It sucks!

    My husband and I love watching your videos. Just wondering if your close to an Amish community maybe instead of throwing the damaged food away they could come in and glean the damaged produce for a lower price and show you how they repurpious your damaged veggies to minimize your financial loss .We live an hour west of yall and got less damage than yall 😢. It broke my heart to see all the hard work your family has done just to have the hail distroy so much hard work😢.....I took my tomatoes and put in brown bagged to rippen them,, cut off the bad and I'm turning it to sauce or cut veggies and freezing them...And maybe next year you can add another greenhouse to grow peppers in too , just like the tomatoes.I know cherry valley near us has gotten Tornadoes 🌪 too and tore thier barn appart. If yall need help message me my husband's off on weekends we could come help if you want. God bless the work of yours and your familys hands.

    Look into different sauces to make with them now. Tomatoes make ketchup. Peppers can make different hot sauces. New products for market or if any local people make it. Just like apples that don’t last make applesauce. Also have you guys ever considered getting a stone picker for the kubota skid steer or tractor? It might make life easier especially in some sections you showed today.

  • @777nezzy
    @777nezzy Год назад

    Have you guys thought about maybe sacrificing that lower section of the field where it water logs and digging another large dam for the drier times? Might be worth the sacrifice in the long run. Just a thought.

    You should try some of the cyclones - you call them hurricanes, except they spin in the opporsite direction. Bit over 12 years ago we had catagory 5 cyclone Yasi the worst you can get. I was lucky and wasnt too badly affected but alot of people were much worse off losing houses, crops, cars etc.

    Hopefully most of the crops will be able to be survive. We don’t get to many tornados here but I’ve lived through a few. We get more damage from hurricanes than anything rise Hope everything works out ok. Be praying for y’all. Regards to all and God bless.

    Lots of those beat up peppers could be used for salsa, corn relish, or jams/spreads. There’s still money to be made off them if y’all have the time to process them one way or another.

  • @linato1855

    That is a lot of damage to your crops. I’ve actually bought marked up peppers in the past at a local market when that was all they had available and cheaply priced. I simply cut off the nicked or marked up parts and chopped them up for stir fry. I guess it isn’t worth it for you to pick them to donate to soup kitchens and such…. I feel bad for all your work going to waste. No doubt the atmosphere isn’t helped one iota by all the detonations in Europe. The weather is crazy everywhere…. We’ve had very cool nights here for weeks now. In August! Wishing you well, Logan❣️👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

    Going to look a lot worse once it goes through a person...People are too damn fussy! :( AT least you have crops...Here in my part of NS, Canada, we had a very dry Spring then once I planted the garden, it rained the whole month of June and 1 week in July...(hardly any sun) Most of my seeds rotted in our heavy soil! :(

    I can only see what you have shown me and it isn't pretty. I watched all the work raising them and watering them and then planting and the drought and can't figure out the WHY of the situation. Those poor peppers and tomatoes. I think the rest will recover but in their recovery the pickings will be slim. I do feel for you guys, you and your Dad put so much in that Farm. Did it only hit that valley that you were in or the surrounding areas. I watch the news a lot and never heard a work on that tornado. I only live say and hour and a half from you guys. Happy the houses and the greenhouses and the Tomato green house are OK you didn't mention anything. LOng time back your Pap was saying that you guys had a Bad Hail Storm and it made a lot of holes on the veggies, I Think he was on the news, it was a video way back when. Its strange how a Beautifull Blue sky and those PUFFY White Clouds can turn around and cause those type of storms. Did you guys have any Crop Insurance? I will be watching for the recovery of those peppers and Tomatoes, keep us informed my Friend.
