Gabriel Flash Elorde was a good friend of my mother and her family because they were neighbors in Mabolo, Cebu City. Most everyone fooled around with Eskrima and Arnis. Noy Gabing as he was called most definitely got schooled in Arnis and Eskrima.
Muhammed Ali was supposed to be friends with Flash Elorde before his first championship and used to visit the Philippines a lot...I wonder if he trained against arnisadors with live blades because early on in his career he was very active in movement....
The only mention I've seen linking Flash Elorde to traditional Filipino martial arts come from Filipino martial artists... is there any verified source out there which confirms he practised any of these? (other than a second-hand story)
Albo Trebus hello, thank you for your comment. Guro Willie Laureano mentioned that he worked with Maria Elorde who was the eldest daughter of Flash Elorde.
does kali or any phil martial art have ground fighting in it AND HOW TO AVOID IT what makes me ask that ??? because in a REAL street fight chances are IT WILL END UP ON THE GROUND and unless you trained on how avoid ending up on the ground if you end up there you are dead
First of thank you for your comment. Secondly; There is a Filipino Martial Arts that consist of ground techniques and we call it dumog Third: What source are you citing to make the claim that MOST if not ALL street fights will end up on the ground? I’ve heard many ground fighters make this claim but yet don’t know where they get their data from? I have seen many videos of street fights and I barely see most of the fights end up a ground fight only because real street fighters avoid it at all cost. Just sharing my two cents....
@@413MediaGroup seeing the real thing seeing many street fighters end up on the ground AND YES YOU ARE CORRECT most do avoid going to the ground but as the old goes the more you know the less you need
cyndee farrish again thank you for comment. I too have seen my share of street fights (not just RUclips 😂) and been in some myself. But arguably most of them never ended up as a ground fight.
@@413MediaGroup I have been in maybe 60+ altercations in my life (was a delinquent) and the only time it went to the ground we were fighting in a bathroom.
Thank you for sharing, I think that if anything we want to avoid getting on the ground. Now can it get to ground yes absolutely; but you avoid it as much as possible because you don’t know the terrain and there maybe multiple attackers.

In Layman's terms: You can't hurt what you can't hit.
