  • The Mallard Flank Streamer is a fly pattern I saw tied by fellow RUclipsr @Coastfly and really liked the looks of so I decided to tie some for myself. He tied it with just natural mallard flank but I thought I might like the looks of it if I tried it in a few other colors and multiple colors to give it a little depth. Ended up really liking the looks of it so I thought I'd share it with you. If you need any of the materials to tie this fly you can find them at our website www.holsingersflyshop.com and as always thanks for watching. -Shawn

Hi Shawn, yeah Coastfly ties some awesome patterns. I really like the looks of your take on this. You've tied some awesome streamers too! Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll do well. Love this channel, I've always done well with your stuff. Thanks!

@@HolsingersFlyShopYes he's a good guy too. I sub'd him about a year ago. I really like those Scandinavian tyers. Since Ahrex hooks came out they've been featuring a lot of tyers from that part of the world.
The more I see of Firehole products the more I like how the flies look, I've got to try them some time.
I enjoy your channel because you're close to central NY where I fish and sort of "old school' like me, yet try new things. Plus you always give great advise... in other words you're a great guy too. Have a great day!

Interesting. Bear at 12:25? It must have been operating the camera! Yup, a deep guttural sound (pun intended). Love your flies, BTW.

Shawn, I tied this pattern with wood duck, Mallard, and even used maribou. I had decent results with them in still water and lakes. I am wondering what you found by using them in kettle creek? My local streams were not as productive, that may be because of low clear water conditions. I love how the streamer looks and feels in the water. They really do look natural. I've seen several you tuber videos of the same similar pattern and I guess I hybridized somewhat to picture what natural minnows would look like in our waterways. Just wanted to thank you for what your doing with video tutorials. I think I've seen just about all of them. I even tied several of your style of patterns. Thanks
