Thanks for showing this area. The attack on Pegasus bridge has always been one of my favorite stories from D Day and I have always wanted to visit. Maybe someday! But for now I love watching your videos and planning my future trip. Thanks!
Hi, Rob! Cool video! It makes sense to use gliders. Good background for the battle (and solid intro). I agree. I heard about some paratroopers who landed far, so I concur that their close landing is great. They all landed near one another. It is sad how there were at least a couple casualties too. It was cool to see the bridge today and how it looked then. The similarities are striking. It's interesting how similar parachutists look then to today. Also cool how they preserved Major Howard's beret, shoulder flashes, medals, and helmet. The museum is great and I want to visit the museum. Have a good rest of the week. Take care, bud 😊.
Back in the 90s i was a pliot in the AAC and i had the privilege to fly John Howard and some of his veterans to the Bridge on the anniversary it was a high light of my service to fly John to the Bridge he was frail but him and his men did the march again over the bridge with the army air corps band I must be one of the few army pilots who can say Major John Howard flew with me the bridge I met such a lot of great men than day I think all have gone now RIP up the ox and bucks and thank you for allowing me to be your pilot
Too many locals were crossing the bridge without paying a toll. The Germans had to put machine gun nests on the bridge to enforce the law. On the nearby beaches they put barbed wire, landmines, mortars and machines guns, because British sunbathers were flocking there in the summertime, causing all kinds of trouble.
A stand out video on a day when there are many. Bravo!
Thank you
Great video with good perspective on where the first gliders landed.
'We will remember them'

@@historyinyourhand1787 This generation was so special and it was a privilege to meet them and give them a day out with us
why was there a german gun emplacment on the bridge, was it due to the germans expecting the allies to invade?
Yeah they knew an invasion attempt was coming somewhere at some point so had security and defences setup all over
