Excellent video. The South African Brigade with fought in Delville Wood was part of the 9th (Scottish) Division and fought alongside Scottish troops in and around the wood. The tree alleyways in the wood were named after famous Scottish Streets, and markers identifying them are still in place today ie "Princess Street". And the South African museum in the wood really is excellent, one of the very best on the Somme, so do visit

Hey Rob, how are you? Good morning :) Which states in the U.S. have you been to? I haven't really been to GA (just the Atlanta airport, so I don't really count that). The woods are beautiful :). They sure made it look like the U.S. It's a peaceful and nice place. I would love to visit it :] I like how you show the photos of the show and put them in front of the shot of the roads. :) It's awesome and I always enjoy when you put up pics from shows or from the world wars and juxtapose them with the locations as they are today. I was a squaddy at Longmore Army camp when this lot turned up to be fair they were pretty good and a lot of them used to do jogging on their own time. You see them running up the hill. They used to do that on their own time to try to make the part look authentic if they had modern uniforms, you would think they up-to-date soldiers and they did work their ass off to make the park look good

My Great grandfather, fought here also with the 2/5 Kings Liverpool regt. Wounded (Gassed) on the 2nd of November, lucky for me he survived the war becoming a POW on April 16th 1918. Rest in piece all those who didn't return.

That scene with the elderly guy on the bicycle is one of my favorite scenes from Band of Brothers. His reaction to being surrounded and his comment about the enemy was pretty funny. Haha.

Hi the archaeological digs were undertaken by Operation Nightingale, an initiative to support military veterans wellbeing, starting in 2019. Time Team came in 2023 and 2022 and there are features of both years. Before that Dan Snow and his team filmed the dig in 2021 for History Hit. Also worth mentioning is Aldbourne Heritage Centre which, among other things, has many of the finds from the digs on display.

Did you notice that the stairs to the sun balcony are a bit different in the series than in a real great room. In Band of Brothers stairs go upward but in real those go downwards. Maybe blueprint to make set wasn't accurate about stairs. Noticed that when I was visiting Eagle's Nest about 2004 or so just a few years later than the series was released. Great series anyway.
