I was in front of my radio on that very special moment.
I was 14 and only had a tape recorder that I put in front of the radio.
In the end, the sound of my recording was horrible but I enjoyed it for years because it was so unique.
i wasnt even realy born yet but i heard this is how people used to make mixtapes for each other back in the day lol. the years before spotify where making a playlist for your sweetheart was so much more work and the result was a lot worse quality
Me too, with my tape recorder in front of the radio. A red K7
The audio quality makes it a very interesting experience. 100% that "vaporwave" feeling people try to capture now.
@@user-ex7qx4pv2u shut up !
It's called lo-fi recording. And it's very much apart of vaporwave.
Was recorded in mp3 at 24 kbps type file
this actually sounds really good all things considered
Imagine this playing at Walmart or Target
Well, if you see a loony dancing in the aisles, that’s me.
Or Ikea, Euromarche...
This has always felt to me like the precursor and earliest influence to vaporwave and a lot of similar genres. I've always loved it, and I'm so thankful a remaster this good exists to preserve it!
But vaporware is never released but being planned to release, so its a completely different thing to this :)... This one got fininished and released... just only once as planned :).
00:00 and that's how V A P O R W A V E was born !
yeah. definitely... trust me, you won't find any Vaporwave album before this masterpiece. Love you Jarre !
Oh wow. This is the best quality of this release i've heard
All time genius musician,, unrivalled.
@Sheltering Sky I concur
The beats on Part 1 are amazing. So tight. Hearing those uncompressed must be an experience.
Wonder if JMJ can pull some Taylor's Version shenanigans to finally release the full album.
When he released _Planet Jarre_, JMJ organized it into four "universes" based on his different styles of composition: soundscapes, themes, sequences, and explorations. This album has them all!
This is an excellent remaster, best version I've heard of this rarity! Well done George!
Thank you sir!
@@GeorgeSavvidis everybody calls you George
Thx dude! Unique!
And many many thanks to internet!!!
Wow George! I've heard many 'home remasters' of this gem. Yours is the best hands down. Thank you!!
always ahead of his time, viva JMJ

WOW....excellent...thanks for uploading. It's really interesting to hear the original tracks which developed further in future releases, a couple with hardly any differences. Superb (-:
Thanks for taking the time to do this. I remember hearing the original broadcast way back.
With the release of Pt.2 in Planet Jarre, one can at least get a sense of how the actual record sounds without the AM quality loss. I've imagined it a few times already haha
I literally went to Albertsons with this playing on
EXCELLENT WORK MY MAN
Is this the real origin of V A PO U R W A V E ? ? ?
Definitely one of the first examples. Probably the first Mallsoft album ever made
definitely. and not maybe
The story goes that the private buyer of the only pressing was Jarre himself and used elements from it in future releases.
this sounds really good
There was an RTL interview with jarre on daily motion about 7yr ago I’m unable to find it, but at the end it had a very very good quality version of the early version of “Diva” featured on music for supermarkets.. can anyone find / know what I’m talking about?? It finished with a still shot of a reel to reel recorder playing it.. it would definitely be downloaded onto my first Mac from when I was about 15.
Epic!!!!!
As Jarre himself said, let's pirate dis shit nao
I think pretty soon AI will get to a stage where it can upscale this to it's original audio quality or higher definition.
06 july 1983 in hotel diriot in paris for a price of 69000 ff
It was only 8960 dollars...
jean michel, release this please....
No masters exist
@@Jf2jf2jf2 what about the track on the recent jarre compilation?
@@ferndalemanmk6 he used samples and replayed it, masters have been destroyed the day of the auction.
I never realised that there was so much recycled content on there that appeared on later albums. I think if I'd paid €10k for something 'unique', I don't think I'd be all that pleased about that...
this could be them
Part 5 "vegetables fresh vegetables" 😃
I knew I wasn't hearing things back in 1991 when I bought a used vinyl copy of Zoolook and hearing "vegetables, fresh vegetables" on "Blah Blah Café". Makes more sense when it turns out that piece first appeared on Music for Supermarkets.
Jag har skivan i min gula pripps-back.
Slightly delaying the left channel and either raising the volume of the left side or decreasing the volume of the right side to kind of balance the sound eh?
Does anyone know if the first song was reused later?
No, but it does seem to be a kind of warmup for "Zoolookologie". The percussion sounds and underlying rhythm are quite similar, but this is in a minor key.
@@gabrielyedid2687 also none of the Fairlight vocal sampling, but it was definitely cut from the same cloth...
y a du zoolook et rendez vous !
music for supermarkets 8=ethnicolor2
They have some common elements, but that's it
The first one used to be very scary! Why was I used to scare myself so much!
Rhetorical Question
If you think that's scary, don't look in the mirror.
Is this vaporwave?
This uploaded copy appears to be a 'safety' copy. Rather poorly mixed and in low fidelity sound quality. Shame. Doesn't do it justice. If the very original one or multi track master tapes could ever be recovered a thorough remix and remastering would be in order and general release would suit Jean Michel Jarre officanados to a 't' This record basically served as a test bed for Jarre's more experimental and ground breaking next album 'Zoolook' the following year. He tinkered with some great ideas here and put them to good use on Zoolook using early first generation samplers and digital electronic devices and effects.
Doesn't do what justice? This is the best audio quality version I've heard of this LP. Considering it was broadcast once on AM radio, with its inherent ultra low frequency range, I think George has done a brilliant job of remastering it. JMJ has made it clear that there never be an official release of Musique Pour Supermarchés.
@@candoacademy7388 *The Station* will contact the Jean-Michel Jarre estate and Dreyfus Music and see if they will finally authorise the release of the original multi track tapes of this album so a full remastering and remixing exercise to a much higher standard can take place. *We* will pursue all legal channels in the French courts and internationally if the need requires. *We* believe that this album deserve that. It represents a key milestone in Jarre's progression as a confident & talented musician in classic electronica. And in fact music over all. *We* think if enough of us lobby and protest the Jarre Estate and Dreyfus Music this could happen. *We* need the will, the nerve, the energy and, above all, the enthusiasm.

@@sanchoodell6789 wasn't the tapes burned with a notary at the place?
@@sanchoodell6789 BLA BLA WOOF WOOF! No court will do that. It's JMJ's music, he has all rights to it, not you nor all record companies put together who have zero right to it, and there's nothing you can do about it other than blow a shit load of money on frivolous litigation!
And as for "His estate: It's 2022 now, and he's still Alive, so you cannot sue "His estate". Boy are you dense!
@@Bob-of-Zoid Woh! Easy tiger! Someone has forgotten to take their meds this morning!

This is just a re hash of demo stuff from Zoolook and Rendezvous.
No.
The other way around.
Other way around my guy
This awfull quality sound, is the original?
Broadcast once on AM radio. No other source publicly exists.
Yes, only one lp exists. But you will probably never hear it. It was sold to the higest bidder
oh guys.... 1lp and Jarre have's a mother tape copy :P
It's one of the rarest LPs of all time. Only one disc pressed, and the master tapes (but I think those have been destroyed)
@@rembollo1992 No he doesn't! The original tapes were burnt in front of judges as part of the authentication process: The whole project was to make one single album, for one person to buy at an auction, and it was played only once over AM radio, which is where any copies you may find were yanked from, by whoever recorded it at home from the radio. Even the guy who bought it is legally restricted from making and selling copies!
JMJ did although use some of the samples, music, and synth settings in recordings for his subsequent album "ZooLook"
To be honest, except the intention and backstory, this is not a masterpiece.
Is this arpegiator
@@jaroslavhenzely9533 I would do very illegal things to hear Part 1 uncompressed.
