Great instructional video. Note that Chromecast Ultra is always ON and therefore will consume data even when your TV is OFF because it is always updating the Ambient background images. It does not know when your TV is OFF.
Props man! Non tech comment. I simply learn a lot from your videos. I am grateful for your tone of voice and your pace. Please, keep posting! Oh, and the focused, under 10 minutes or so thing? Keeps me coming back.
Hi can I use Chromecast Ultra for my RV TV.? We camp where there is no WiFi available. I have Spectrum and other apps on my phone I watch and was wondering what the best way to cast those to my Vizio TV in my RV to watch on a bigger screen.
How old of a HD tv will it work on? I have a Panasonic Viera (2009 with hdmi, some HD) and an iPad 6th gen. I have connected a 2015 hp red 360 laptop to tv before if that helps.
I seem to have missed the opportunity to write in my password for the wifi system during installation. My 4K Samsung TV has accepted Chromecast Ultra, and I have set it to show time and weather, and beautiful changing picturess. But I am unable to connect neither my iphone nor MacBook to the Chromecast. I have watched Brett's installation video.
hey Brett i know this is outdated relevent to my q but why does my ccu only turn my t.v on via voice command and not shut it down even though the google speaker responds in saying it is doing so(it is a L.G that uses Simplink),it works on my other t.v though, cheers
Your video is the first that actually shows casting video and audio! If my TV sends its sound to my receiver will it do it with the sound cast to the TV from the service like Amazon Prime?
If I subscribe to RUclips TV, then is it easy to stream my subscription content on my TV via the smartphone? In other words, if I do not have a smart TV or a cable/satellite subscription, then is Chromecast Ultra an ideal means by which to have my channels appear on a big screen?
+John Bonini With the Chromecast your phone is the remote. You see a video on your phone click the Cast button and then it is on the TV. You can keep browsing on your phone while the video plays. If you want the channels on the big screen look at getting an Android TV device.
Hi Brett.is Chromecast Ultra for different markets? I am in the UK right now and I want to buy one from here and use it in Romania.I want to know how the different internet connection might affect me.Thanks.
Sorry about the blur again. The Chromecast Ultra was simple to setup. Please let me know if you have any further questions about the setup or about it vs. a regular Chromecast.
Hey Brett, really enjoy your videos. Big ups. I have a tech question that maybe you can help me out with. I'm looking at getting a new TCL 4K HDR TV which has Chromecast built-in, as well as Android operating system and Google assistant (I'm in NZ). I've heard you cannot ask Google Home to turn on a TV without a Chromecast dongle or Harmony hub etc. Is this true? So would I need to purchase a Chromecast Ultra even though the TV has one built in? And on that same note, if a I have an active Chromecast Ultra plugged in as well as a built in Chromecast, would you just simply choose which one to cast to? I'd appreciate some tech hep from Brett :)
Kia Ora! This is a great question as it gets pretty complicated. Yes it is true you can't turn off the TV with Built-In Chromecast functionality. If the TV supports CEC connect you should be able to plug in a separate Chromecast dongle and have the power controls. when doing that it might default to that Chromecast as the input so you would either need to cast to the Chromecast or as the Google Home to cast to whichever Chromecast device you would like it to play on and your TV should change inputs. This is where it gets a bit weird as well. You can cast RUclips to either Chromecast device from the Google Home but as far as I am aware you would not be able to cast Netflix to the Built-In Chromecast on the TV. This is the way with some of the other services as well. I am not sure why it is this way but that is just the way it is. So it is beneficial to have both. The Harmony Hub is another great option. I still need to fully set mine up but many others have highly recommended it. Hope that helps!
The plug that comes with the Chromecast Ultra are you able to purchase one of them for the regular Chromecast so we can hardwire the ethernet straight to it ? I understand it won't do the same as far as streaming at such high resolution but it would probably help a lot with the internet connection. I just do not have one of them 4K TVs I don't see the benefit in paying the extra money for the ultra Chromecast besides that plug
I always love your videos. Just a quick question though, does chromecast ultra support nba app? Or can I watch my nba league pass via chromecast ultra to my 4k tv in a stable manner? I hope you can answer my question though. Thanks and God Bless.
Question: If I already have the TV directly hardwired from the high speed modem via Ethernet, would I still need the Chromecast also directly connected to the modem/switch to get the Ethernet connectivity?
I have not been able to connect/set up my Chromecast Ultra for the past month I have had it. It detects the Chromecast then when I try and set it up it says it cannot connected to it.
Hi Brett. I'm running a non-HDR 4K TV and have had the Chromecast 2 installed for some time. A great little device. However, my wifi setup is an LTE modem that is pegged at 10mpbs download, which appears from your video to be too slow to justify an upgrade in an attempt to get a bit of ethernet generated grunt. Any thoughts ?
+Piers Lort-Phillips Have you had any issues with buffering on the Chromecast 2? If you are looking to push 4k to the TV you would need to upgrade Chromecast, dedicated internet and upgrade Netflix plan and such on top of possibly your internet speed. If what you are doing works I saw stick with it. If you want the 4K your speed might be fine it (it will just take longer to buffer up the video) you might just need to consider the cost of everything else to get there. Does that help?
I thought as much. Actually, there's no real buffering to speak of ... the Chromecast 2 works pretty much seamlessly, even with my truncated internet speed. I might just save my shekels. Thanks for the quick response and keep up the good work. Cheers, Piers
If I take the ethernet cable in the chromecast I can't stream anymore. Nothing works when it's in. Do you have any idea why that happend? I mean I specially bought the ultra so I can use it with ethernet cable..
@@TechWithBrett How will my kids (5 and 8) be able to control the TV? I will be streaming RUclipsTV and Netflix. WIll Roko be better since it has a remote
You could have a Google Home setup that can control what is playing but for manual control I would recommend a Roku or even a Android TV Box like the MiBox.
+lovingorca It does not have a browser. You can show websites on a Chromecast if you mirror you Android phone or desktop computer to it. ruclips.net/video/3U1DVkNPxsA/видео.html
I would start by unplugging the power cord and then plug it back in. If still there try another HDMI port. If still there Factory Reset the Chromecast by holding down the button in the device for 15 seconds. Then set back up in Google Home app.
Thanks. Bought a Stadia a month ago and have only been using the Chromecast Ultra to play games on the TV without saving up over $400 for a new game console. After testing out what the Chromecast Ultra does, it's pretty pointless for anything other than a conduit for the Stadia game platform since everything else it offers is already set up and running on our PS3... and we _rarely_ ever use it for anything other than gaming, as well. So thanks for nothing in _that_ department, Google. Waste of app space on my devices. Pity that the Stadia only has a precious handful of actually good games on it. =)
Tech With Brett, so which one that can do what I've asked? Again, do you know how or someone that can set thing up without internet (paid) /or WiFi (coded) from Android phone/tablet to 4K pc?
The Chromecast audio will output to whatever your TV outputs to. So if it is going to a home theater or a sound bar system with your TV already that is where the Chromecast will play through.
Tech With Brett does the Chromecast ultra or Chromecast audio support 5.1 surround sound if connected to a home theater I'm so sorry but I'm a bit new worth all this
Great instructional video.

Yes it will. Amazon Prime now supports casting directly to the TV so it should work just Casting RUclips.
Mine changes source on its own. Pretty slick actually. The only thing that Apple tv has over it is the ability to use Bluetooth earphones

You do need a dedicated internet connection to use. I would say it is worth it if you can get that.

It depends on the phone and the video app that you are using.

Yep, just plug a cable into your router and in the Ultra plug.

hi can u connect Sony WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones
Seems like a really cool device!
Yeah I Agree
Do you have have to use wifi or can u use phone data......??
It requires consistent WiFi connection. There are ways to get it to works with a hotspot from your phone but it is not going to be a good experience.
What’s the song in the background
2020 chromecast be like wheres the remote to you, Ultra
Great video, the only downside about chromecast is there no remote control you have too use your phone all time.
Jose A Avellanet It does take an extra step or to to play content. If you like us long a remote I suggest using an Android TV device.
I personally find it easier. It's much easier to lose a remote than your phone.
Since this works with 4K, does this work with 1080P too?
Yes it does!
1080p is just HD progressive scan. Not 4k
Can you still use the TV remote to select movies, etc
No, you will use your phone to find the movie and then cast it to the Chromecast.

how can I play 4K video on RUclips? You didn't show that on the video?

support atmos?
I have a problem with chromocast, it shows me a black screen and a yellow mark. Can you help me?

Why would I get this if I already have a smart TV with the same apps? Only thing I can see is Google Home integration.
can i cast videos that were taken on my iphone?
If you upload the using Google Photos, then you can stream them from that app. There may be other options to cast iPhone gallery as well.
How can I connect the remote control? It is impossible

If I have no internet /or WiFi, how do I setup to use Android phone to my 4K Windows 7?
angelisone What are you looking to do? WiFi is required to setup a Chromecast.
Tech With Brett, so which one that can do what I've asked?
Again, do you know how or someone that can set thing up without internet (paid) /or WiFi (coded) from Android phone/tablet to 4K pc?
And can you /or someone tell me where can I buy a laptop that has HDMI input?
+angelisone To input HDMI into your laptop I suggest using this Elgato screen capture card: amzn.to/2vSOJtL
+angelisone The Chromecast requires WiFi. You might be able to use a device by AnyCast to accomplish what you would like. amzn.to/2wyem0a
What is that phone?
Cool video
can you tell me .how can l get internet without having to pay a bill every month.like a phone card.thank you. i have enough bills
Where do you live? I do not currently know of any plans like that.
Do it have app DirecTV now on it
You can cast from the directv app right to the Chromecast.
I have the regular Chromecast what's the difference between regular and ultra
+Jason Matthew It as an Ethernet port in the charger, is 4k and supports HDR.
Can you connecth the Chromecast cast ultra to a home theater sound or a sound bar my TV doesn't Bluetooth though
The Chromecast audio will output to whatever your TV outputs to. So if it is going to a home theater or a sound bar system with your TV already that is where the Chromecast will play through.
Tech With Brett does the Chromecast ultra or Chromecast audio support 5.1 surround sound if connected to a home theater I'm so sorry but I'm a bit new worth all this
Yes the Chromecast Ulta does have 5.1 surround sound.
Fun gadget and I like Google voice control, but I'd rather have a HTPC. This thing won't even run Amazon Video natively.
is a chromecast ultra work in smart tv ?
+Armenia Yerevan Yes! The only difference is you phone and the apps you have are the controller.1
Thank you.
it’s worrh if I use mobile hostpot?
I'm late but no as it's in 1080p/4k it will eat up your data in minutes
Does it work with HDTV 1080?
+kierra k Works great! Even though it can go to 4K it will automatically adjust to display 1080.
it has ethernet option. but doesnt work for half the buyers.
I also have that
So i need a chromecast ultra to stream videos at 1440p?
+II TANFi3LD II Yes. If your 4k tv has smart apps they should be able to stream 4k as well.
I was thinking about using it on a monitor, which will work fine as well?
+II TANFi3LD II Yes it will as long as your minister has built in speakers or some type of audio out for sound.
thanks
i dont have WIFI.or internet.do i need it.please reply.Thanks.
Yes you will need home internet and a wifi connection to use.
how did you comment or watch video without internet
She went to Starbucks.
Trying to set up in my car
Works great with my car projector
If it is connected via Ethernet than Can I still able to cast via wifi?
+Ankit Gol Yes you can. When plugged through Ethernet it is connected to your network so still has access to casting.
Uses a lot of data from my phone, correct?
If you are using your phone as an internet hotspot. If you have your owner WiFi connection that does not use any data from your phone.
If you know what Ambient Mode is like this comment.
👏✌
can it cast iOS?
It can cast from supported apps on iOS but it cannot mirror from iOS.
