Yuuuup. You can literally fly to Bora Bora for the price of a weekend at Disney's Polynesian Resort. It's insane.
It's cause we got zero bread
You're telling me kids don't make money?

The price is outrageous. My coworker makes around $140k, by all means a good salary. To take his kids to Disney he had to save for months and not go out and do stuff with the rest of us to put money away. The price is out of control, not just the park, but hotels, transportation, food, etc. It all adds up to a lot of cash which is better spent elsewhere.
It’s only priced like that because dumb people will pay

At 3:25 they start talking about FastPass and Big A asks "what did they do to Fastpass?" and 16 hours of Defunctland flashed in front of my eyes. Atrioc, if you wanna know what happened to FastPass in excruciating and beautiful detail, Defunctland has a whole series on it.
Every entertainment service suddenly decided that they were gonna charge you luxury prices for the same thing you got before. There's an ongoing dispute with ticketmaster also, with concerts pricing out fans for no reason other than just pure greed. They have deemed it this way hoping to get more revenue off the public, but at the end they squeezed them out. We have reached an inflection point in the economy where private businesses are openly malicious to consumers in a blind lunge at the mystical land of projected earnings.
Here before the government bails them out with tax dollars again
It’s inflation. Have a brain and Vote Trump
I don’t think Trump can fix this. I don’t think any election choice can fix this mess. I think it’s modern fiduciary policy trying to prevent economic constipation via austerity. Read up on modern monetary theory. This is the policy our economists have chosen, thinking that austerity measures to balance the budget are a losing battle.
Unfortunately these monkey-brains aren’t thinking in terms of 100s of years on the timeline, where eventually all the debt of each of the countries gets called to order and our country gets invaded for its years of economic imperialism, or has to invade others to reset the scorecard. We are headed for war because of it.

I think it's fair to say that people obviously know it isn't live action because using real lions wouldn't work, but it is still a movie that follows the same trend as other old Disney hits, which are released as live actions of their cartoon counterparts. Their goal with the Lion King CGI animation is to create something that is as close to live action as they can get without sacrificing the realism, there isn't really any value in making a distinction for that movie alone.

$74,000 isn't even the average annual salary for an individual in the US. The stat that the video sites from the BLS is for median HOUSEHOLD income. Median Income specifically for Full time workers from the BLS at the end of 2023 was $59,540.
After I graduate, I was going to take my gf out to Orlando for Disney/Universal for a week or two but then I did the math and it would be CHEAPER to go to Hawaii. The prices not only are insane but you need to book multiple days for each park to actually get to do everything you want since the lines are so long and the line skippers don't apply to all rides. It actually makes me sad to think about the fact that when I was a kid Disney was seen as a "normal" winter vacation spot and Hawaii was seen as the super rich kid vacation but now Disney is more expensive.
you have to go at very specific times during the year (mostly september) in order to do everything you want in 1 day.
Zoomers are saving up for their lambo rental so they can sell finance courses.
True!
Zoomers are saving up for the cheap S&P 500 positions when recession happens.
I think another reason more kids aren't interested in Disney is that their influence on kid's entertainment is waning. Of course, they still have a dominant hold on kid's entertainment, but its slowly declining largely due to the increased availability of kid's content on the internet, on places such as RUclips. Pre internet, if you were a parent and needed to entertain your kids, Disney TV shows and movies were the go-to, so everyone watch them. However, in recent times, you can just slap on Cocomelon or some other random RUclips content and you're good to go. Disney is trying to combat that by buying up all the popular franchises, but I think it's a losing battle, at least right now.
it's kinda unfortunate. because cocomelon is actual brainrot. it has no substance, only being designed to distract children and hold their attention.
They need to add a Jake Paul theme park ride to Disneyland.
Disney just finds a super successful thing, buys it, cost cuts it into its own grave, cries, and buys something else.
"gen z is overestimating starting salaries by $50k" to me sounds more like "massive companies, despite having record profits and massive layoffs, still won't raise the starting salary from 40 years ago". if i could buy a house (or even rent an apartment) on $60k/y then that would be nice, but we don't live in that america anymore
Both statements can be true, and I think they both are. They ARE overestimating their starting entry level job salaries (unless they end up working for a top 1% job market/company), and the unfortunate reality of the situation is that they CAN'T buy a house with the average starting salary on its own.
I totally agree with u but 118k is still a bit aggressive
Obviously that depends on ur degree how reasonable that is but I can’t imagine the average college student being worth that much yearly salary
Part of that has less to do with inflation but two separate markets that are both considered vital to workers that are causing friction with each other though. Realistically while wages certainly should go up a bit, it's not because housing prices are insane, nor is it reasonable to expect wages to adjust with the housing market. The problem on that front is that the housing market has been allowed to accelerate out of control and needs to be adjusted within its own sector as well.
Not sure if you people understand how this works, the only time inequality gets reset is after war. They have no incentive people are so soft not like we're gonna protest or do anything about it
My family has had disneyland annual passes for something like 10 years now. There were a few times where we didn't renew in there but never for more than a year. On average we go once every 2 weeks. I'm definitely not going for me, I'd rather my family spend the money traveling the world or something. In that decade I think the biggest thing that's changed is the behavior of the adults that go. It's gone from enjoyment to entitlement, and it kinda makes sense why. The "type" of adults that are going isn't changing, they just have more pressure to make their trip good for the cost. That behavior trickles down to the children who either adopt the frustrations of the adults and become cranky at the slightest inconvenience, or they take advantage of the adults and slip under their nose to go run into an area they clearly shouldn't be in. The worst part of all of this is the people that have to deal with this mess are the cast members, and they're definitely not getting paid well enough to do their jobs. On that, it seems the cast members have a diminished sense of pride in their job compared to a decade ago. Cast members spend a lot more time in small groups yapping to each other, rather than spread out and doing crowd management. However, I'm not positive if that's a sense of pride issue, or an over-staffing one, or even something else.
If you live near Disney it’s definitely worth it but if not 100% no. I can literally just walk to Disney, I have before, and so I don’t need to spend money on food or drinks because I’m often full by the time because I live nearby. I can’t imagine the fees of having to stay somewhere nearby, buying food and drinks there, and the fees for parking or public transportation.
Sonic 3 vs Lion King is a thing and the Millenial Disnoids are arguing that Sonic is a "small" fanbase with "limited" appeal so ofc Lion King will do better and I'm like you fools, Disney hasn't been appealing to kids for almost a decade now, Sonic hasn't stopped appealing to kids in the 30 odd years since it existed, kids are gunna be way more interested in the Colourful Hedgehog movie (with Keanu Reeves Shadow) than they are in the bland live action Lion prequel (with a bunch of no names no ones heard of)
Hey just wanted to put my 2 cents in. I recently went to Disneyland 1 month ago in August, and though I still enjoyed it, it feels really bad to be taken advantage of.
Food prices obviously increased, but even restaurants (not the cafeterias) that you previous used to just go to for slightly better food, most of time need reservations far in advance. You also need to pay to reserve the best spots for the world of color in California adventure (there's like a free booking system of limited spots for a decent view but only the paid ones get seats).
Also absolutely hate lightning lane but at the same time it's absolutely necessary because lines are so long, this allows you at the very least get on a few more rides every day (especially if you get in the park at opening). Lightning lane also doesn't work on all rides just a select few, which some rides such as the star wars rebellion ride and cars ride costing money for each time even if you bought lightning lane for everyone. Also if a ride closes down and your time is missed you get one free lightning lane at anytime (still can't book another until you use it), but some rides you could originally lightning lane don't work anymore such as when monsters Inc closed down, guardians of the Galaxy couldn't be used for it and like 2 other rides according to their fine print.
Let's also talk about why it's so much more expensive to bring kids to a park. My two little cousins (5 and 3) wanted to experience the Cinderella boutique thing where they get fully dressed up as princesses and princes. Getting a dress and makeup is like 200 dollars, getting a better quality dress is like 400 dollars I think (look at the packages it's fucking crazy), and originally I thought the prince one was the way better deal cause their only packages are 20 and 80 dollars. Wrong because to add pictures like the 200 dollar princess package, they added 80 dollars just for pictures (to be fair they took like 40 really nice pictures). Also make sure to do reservations for it far in advance or you'll get a bad time cause no one wants to do it closer to night, the kids won't experience it even for a full day. (My aunt told us this like a week before our trip, we had to keep shop refreshing to get an early day time and had more luck to do 1 kid at a time instead of both).
edit: Also i realize that this is a totally optional thing that not everyone wants to do, but like imagine bringing your kids to Disney who are super into the princess movies or just dolls in general. Then when they see this boutique in fantasy land or the other little kids dressed up at the park, and then having to tell them that no they cant have the full experience cause it's $200 and a legitimate cost considering its only like makeup, a dress, and pictures that take a long ass time and take up a significant chunk of your park time (not their top dress, and shoes come separate but available for purchase there).
Another thing we didn't realize when booking our hotel is that the toy story shuttle bus, which is a bus for nearby non-Disney hotels to pick up guests nearby, changed so instead of stopping nearby each hotel it's one stop in the middle of the parking lot so the once quick 3-5 minute walk just around a hedge, instead is closer to 15-20 minutes which sucks if you wanted this to be the mode of transportation for aging father and 2 small kids.
Overall, compared to the last time I went (9 years ago) it's just so depressing how much it felt like we were being picked and dime and how less convenient even a shuttle is. I definitely agree it feels so much more crowded, which just makes it so annoying when waiting on lines for fucking everything like food, shows, rides, character pictures, etc.
I would say the only thing improved is the fact they have professional photography at spots people would usually take pictures at, and it can be uploaded quickly to the app. And even though I'm fucking complaining, it was still fun especially the mickey runaway railroad ride and star wars rebellion (if you have no idea what it is and you plan on going to Disneyland, it's pretty awesome to be surprised by).
I love Disneyland and think I still do but it's just depressing to see how much more it costs and how much worse the experience has gotten despite the insane raised prices.
what i don't understand is that the video mentioned that even with increased prices, the park felt more crowded, meaning more people were going. how are they losing money if attendance is up more than ever then?
It wasn't that more people were going, but fewer were using fast pass is my bet. Disney solved long lines with fastpass but they decided to charge money for it so now the lines are back
@@fedweezy4976Sort of like a tragedy of the commons scenario? (So many people used it that it essentially lost value.)
@@zants_ The fastpass was a genuine solution though, since you were essentially holding your spot in line through your reservation, people didnt have to wait in line and could go to the less crowded areas until it was time for their turn on the ride.
But now you have to pay for it so its obviously going to be used less and more people going back to the lines
@@aaron_vdp I think they meant that because everyone used it, Disney decided to charge for it and now it sucks. But even then i wouldn't really call that tragedy of the commons, I'd call it capitalism
As a Florida native, Orlando is flat out the worst city south of the panhandle.
You could go anywhere on the east or west coast and have a way better time for 1/3 the price. Orlando is literally in the middle of a swamp. You have to drive 2 hours in either direction to get to a beach 😭the weather is awful there.
"Why this park that is a complete luxury is not getting middle-class clients."
Disney luxury. Lol. Lmao even.
Is it even that luxurious? I expect they feeding you caviar everywhere, masseurs, hanging out with celebs, etc. Not everyday food being priced so high, standing in line for an hour just to get in a ride under the sun, etc.
The life hack for going to Disney is to put your foot in a walking boot. You get free fast pass essentially
If you're a kid, would you choose a Disneyland trip or a PC? This is a whole ass brithday gift just for one trip?
My family has wanted to take a Disney vacation since I was like 7 or younger, I'm 25 now, that shits never happening. Expensive then, expensive now.

The old fast pass was even better. You just went to the gate, put your ticket in, and got a time to come back later. There was a limited number of tickets they would give a day - but they rarely ran out until park close. The fast lanes were FREE and went FASTER than the current fast pass solution.
They just wanted to make money

I went to Busch gardens in VA last month and paid 130$ for the ticket with an all day meal pass where you could get a meal, drink, and a side every 90 min when you’re there. I think I spent another 8$ on dip n dots while I was there. Excellent all day park experience for about 140$. I cannot fathom spending 10x that for basically the same experience haha
can't wait until disney finally makes the animated remake of the live action remake of Aladdin with kai cenat as the genie
i love it, theyre price gauging everyone to oblivion and trying to squeeze the last penny out of everyone, and then they wonder why no one is spending that much anymore lol
I went to disney world once it’s kinda mid, there’s nothing that special about it, it’s just an amusement park with wait times so long it’s not even worth it, honestly just go to your local amusement park or like six flags or something
I feel like the 2 parks are not only too expensive, but the amount of people you have to wait behind in line makes it way too not worth it. They need to lower conjestion by opening another location. They got parks on either side of the country's bottom, maybe one in the upper midwest by chicago or new york or something would work.

Ruining your life over a few days of fun is gonna cause so much despair down the line. I feel so bad for these people man.
Everything we know about compound interest, know that the same is true for compound debt.
Because people are sold a dream about what their life should be like and they'll do anything to achieve that dream

@@enotsnavdier6867 the main problem with the Disney dream is Disney had rinsed the f*ck out every single squeeze of IP juice and now trying to charge mortgage money for literally a f*cking rehash of old series, which is beyond ridiculous for literally a bygone era.
I've recently found out that I'm pretty much guaranteed on the spectrum and that social status is in neurotypical people's self-interest a lot of the time. Moreso, in tribalism, the humans species is a tribe. That's why men pee standing up when there's no logic behind it and no one's looking. It's weird to sit down so people don't sit down because that would decrease their self-perception in the tribe which is their self-worth. The debt/vacation trade offer is an in-your-face version of that where they have to _look_ exceptional (aka just appear to have money) to _feel_ good enough as a human. Either that or they got a wave of money hatred over them (understandable) and lost all decision-making
@@emberembr2944 Is going to disney even a flex or social status? If you wanted to flex you could spend that money on much more exclusive things than a theme park serving thousands a day.
for approximately the same amount of money as a disney day trip, you can book a resort that was used by literal royalty in japan for a day meals and everything included. Granted this doesnt include the plane ticket, but most people have actual flexes they could spend on near them.
Disney MUST buy skibidi toilet.
I went to Disneyland and California Adventure during my America trip a decade ago. Back then, it still felt pricey. I think a higher price and no Fast Pass is tipping it way over into not worth it territory unfortunately.
With the Fast Pass system, we had very little time spent waiting in lines. The whole day could be spent either riding rides or walking between rides. I feel like something like that is only worth it if you can ride each of the best rides several times within one day.
The average income in the United States excluding the top 1,000 people is $35,500 :(

That's why we should look at median
This isn't true. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has median income of a full time worker in the US at $59,540 during Q4 of 2023. Which isn't fantastic by any means, and this video kinda cuts off the original video to imply that the 74k number is for individuals when its actually for households. But 35k is practically poverty money at this point. That's definitely not the average.
@Kpwn That's median income for full-time workers ONLY. Average income of all full-time, part-time, and unemployed workers, excluding the top 1000 earners, is about $35,500
Median full time income in the USA is about $60,000. The average takes into account people who aren't working (unemployed, students, retirees etc).

I have a 40 year old coworker who is childless and lives with her parents and makes more than me and she goes to Disney like three + times a year.
She may make more money than you, but if she wastes it all on 3 Disney trips a year then you are technically making more than her because you aren't spending as much.
Couple that with a few investments and you can be surprised where you end up after 5-10 years of investing.
@@shroomer3867 No she has way less overhead. I have a wife and two children and am the sole income for my family. I do invest regularly and have a strong 401K that I've been accumulating for years, but she makes way more than I do and lives with parents still. My point in this post is that there's a lot of people that love Disney because it's all they have. No children no other hobbies and that's where all their free money goes.
I could do much more for less than a trip to Disney. I could go on a flight, cruise, hotel for 2 days, bus tour, 4 visits to restaurants, a comedy show, and an arcade for less than a family trip to Disney
The issue with the overcrowding is that there is no real solution, it will stay crowded regardless of if they bump the prices or not clearly, and if they lower the prices to pre-quarantine its going to lead to more overcrowding in general, the most they could potentially do is limit the amount of people allowed in the park a day to a rate they can keep up with while keeping prices competitive, but that could potentially doom the parks
I went to Disney for the first time this year and it was really disappointing. There were almost no thrill rides. It was more like experience rides. The parks were also swamped with souvenir stores that all sold the same shit. The most disappointing part was the lack of arcades or carnival games. Way too crowded as well.

We don’t want to spend $100+ per person per park and even more if we’re coming from abroad for a theme park anymore. My local park has a one day ticket for like half as much and the only extra thing I have to pay for is the gas for my car to take me there
I was always more of a fan of Six Flags than Disney, if I was paying for a theme park. However I prefer travel as my vacation activity and you can get that way cheaper than any trip to Disney if you save smart and know where to book
The real indicator of how loaded NL is, that he goes on Disney cruises every 2-3 month. And he even brings his child along
It's incredible how entitled people feel about these luxuries. Going to Disneyland is a luxury. If you can't afford it, don't go. If the park is overcrowded, they SHOULD raise prices to give the people that go a better experience.
The mouse overestimating how much people want to spend on tchotchke parks. Hell I-4 is right there and that's free.
Bearing in mind this comment is gonna age like milk in the sun because I need to use cost figures and current exchange rate that will change. (Especially since all parks will charge extra in peak seasons).
This is just comparing the 1 day entry ticket.
Tokyo Disneyland which not owned by Disney but "The Oriental Land Company", their tickets when converted to USD.
8400 (Weekday) yen will be $58.76 American Dollars
10900 (Weekend) yen will be $76.24 American Dollars
Whereas the Disney World theme park in Florida costs $109 regardless of weekday and weekend.
I am sure the additional costs of accommodation, flights and food will be cheaper as well. That the main reason for the Japan prices is the weaker yen.
Have you seen the fuckin' price of Disneyland!?
A trip for one person will be over five-grand. It gets SO much worse when kids get involved.
I went to Disney with my girlfriend because we had a friend that worked there. Free entry, free parking (normally $30 a day), 20-30% off merchandise. If we didn't have that friend, we could've EASILY been forced to pay 1k for the essential things for the 3 days we went. If you want to go to Disney, you need to start practicing getting on your knees to hopefully meet a friend who works there.

Okay but millennials do be doing tricks on the mouse meat
After having gone with friends last year I can say a lot of this is kinda showing the extreme. Lightning lane is not needed whatsoever. We went on a peak weekend in mid June and went on every single ride every single day without issue and no extra purchases. Some days we got genie plus since we thought “eh might be safer to have and not need” and it was maybe useful a few times. We stayed in an airbnb, Uber got us there for $20 after tip, breakfast before we left except one day (and even then it wasn’t insane). We did a full 8am-10pm day at magic kingdom on a super busy Saturday, as our most expensive day it was MAYBE $250 each after tickets, food, drinks, and some merch. If you wanna count the bnb and outside food you could call it $300. There’s smarter ways to do it than a travel blog going all out and getting park meals and park transport
Atrioc, resigning himself to the life he has built himself: sigh* yes there will be hotdogs. cant really get around that
Disney did make new bangers though - you mentioned Frozen, but the kids love Moana, and they've had a few of successful releases besides (Coco, Inside Out as you mentioned)

I remember when FastPass was just the line for people in wheelchairs, so people would hire handicapped people to take to the park with them so they could get on the rides faster.

Bro at 18 i was making more than my teachers still do straight construction no degree shit ez
W blue collar worker
@@FromMan2Monkey-nb5fq idk how old you are bro but if you dont like school trade school or straight construction is a go to
Tip: try doing for jobs that arent heard of everyone talks about electrician, plumbers, ac but yeah they make money but theyre also harder to get into try stuff like superintendents hire at 18, garage soor repair , hires 18 , land surveyors, county worker, ect theyre less heard off so they dont get as many applications also sicne they dont get many applications they tend to like younger guys so they can train them the way they want and also some of these can end up paying a lot more than the previous trades mentioned before
@@FromMan2Monkey-nb5fq much love
You do more money bartending, but you don't have salary growth like you do in other "more academic" positions (I say that in quotes, because most of the time you will see people doing nothing on their ass 8/5)
It's not bad, but you can also look at other stuff you like and try to do community college or trade school for it and or get internships for that, and yes, internships suck major ass, but after the initial experience you should be able to get junior positions and then go up until senior where they pay just as good or better as a good day in bartending.
Of course, you could also consider something like cooking or more professional bartending (classy and or michellin star restaurants) and try to climb that way, it'll probably require for you to learn 100 languages but it might be worth it salary wise.
I can neither afford kids nor a Disney trip so I guess that explains it lmfao
You could do an event that’s the Big A theme park idea and people would pay to go no doubt. Try it. Exactly like u described
I genuinely don't understand how people can enjoy disney after how many times the corporation has done awful inhuman things. like, their whole image is being super nice and kid friendly and then they'll turn around and ruin someone's life because they put mickey mouse's name on their kids gravestone, its kinda hard to associate disney with anything good anymore
It's obviously because Splash Mountain is closed.
We are so poor that even Disney's great grandkids have to live in the parks basement
Disney already owns Bluey lol 12:42
3:40 Bro got kinda cooked here
okay but the take that the Disney world is better than land you've never been to both if you think world is better
i'll give a couple reasons why
1. Disney outpriced their customers
2. they went woke
3. not enough bang for your buck
4. they completely lost imagination
5. why go there when universal is opening epic universe
Epic Universe tho... looking pretty fire
