Glad you enjoyed it! I was just planning on making another one as we just got our first snow of the season and it just seems fitting to make a birdseed wreath.
Goodmorning Mya that is too cute and very creative. These can also be use year around Homestead reefs. I few of them around the Homestead. Thank you for sharing with us in your family RUclips community.
That's awesome!!! I've been trying to figure out what I could do to offer customers in the off season. These would be great!!!!! Thank you so much for showing us how to make a birdseed wreath!
Thank you for your reply regarding the birdseed wreath that cracks when I take it out of the mold. I will try to use less birdseed and see if that would work. I will let you know!
The first one I made crumbled as well and I found that I didn’t press it in hard enough. So the next one I made I spent several minutes pressing it into the pan nice and tight and I found that made all the difference. Hope that helps!
How do you keep the wreaths, suet cakes, etc. from growing mold in the refrigerator? Plus I must be doing something wrong (I use chicken broth instead of warm water to the gelatin powder. The wreaths just crumble when taken out of the molds. Thanks
I never put mine in the refrigerator, I just hung mine outside right away and I’m thinking the chicken broth probably contributed to the mold more quickly than just using water. I’m not sure what you could do to prevent the mold other than just putting them out for the animals right after making it so they eat it up before it starts to mold. Make sure you press the seed into the mold really hard, if it is loose at all it will crumble. My first wreath crumbled and when I made my second one I made to sure really press it down hard and then it didn’t crumble at all when I took it out. Hope that helps!
@@simplybloom I have followed the directions exactly and both times the wreath cracked a bit when taken out of the mold after 24 hours. The first time was worse when I used the cranberries - the second time I omitted the cranberries and it was a bit better but still cracked in two places when I was trying to add the ribbon for hanging. Help! Any suggestions?
@@susancwyckoff oh no I’m sorry to hear that! I’ve made these wreaths 4 times and I’ve always had good luck with them so I’m not entirely sure what is causing the cracking. I wonder if you were to add less birdseed if that would help? Maybe 7.5 cups of birdseed might help it stay together and not be as dry. Worth a shot!
I’m not entirely sure what the purpose is for the corn syrup, if it helps hold it together or just to add a little sweetness but someone suggested trying it with honey instead. I’m not sure how it will turn out with the honey but worth a shot if you don’t want to use the syrup.
So beautiful! Thanks for sharing such a sturdy recipe! It's sure to last through my cold, wet winters here in Vermont.

Do you need the syrup? Can I use honey?
I’m honestly not sure how it will affect it by substituting it with honey but you can certainly try it! Let me know how it works out!

I put wire in the center so it want fall off the hook when the birds eat it down
Oh that’s so smart! I’ll have to try that this year. Thanks for watching and sharing your tips!

Corn syrup bad for birds
