    Oh wow about the lilacs! I live in NW WI and the lilacs were sort of normal in late May when they flowered, but then the whole plant lost the leaves in August and it looked dead. Figured it was due to super dry conditions for the last half of the summer. Then around the end of September the bush leafed out in a few sections and I even got a few small flowered clumps that bloomed! What the heck! My lilacs never have never reflowered for the 25+ years I have lived in zones 3 and 4.

      Yes thanks for watching! I was very surprised that it turned this red just because it has been so dry.

    The wreaths are so stinking cute thanks for showing us. Now I know what to do with my hydrangea blooms. What’s the of your Russian Sage?

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom День назад

      I’m not sure the variety. The tag just said ‘Russian sage’ so I think it’s an older variety. It definitely gets kind of crazy. I would love to get my hands on some ‘denim n lace’ from proven winners because it stays a bit more neat and tidy.

    I love the name Dirty Little Garden Secrets 😂. You did a great job cleaning up your garden it looks so nice. I love my Above and Beyond rose I’m with you on the spring bloom trying to decide if I should move it somewhere else.

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom День назад

      Yes the worst spot in my garden went to my best spot and now I wish the rest of my garden looked this good 😂 I’m debating on getting a second climbing rose of a different variety and starting it at the other end of the deck and have them both kind of grow together. The above and behind is beautiful but then to have the other rose fill in during the rest of the season would be nice.

    Love the dark plant choices! Question. Do you ever have moose or deer pressure in your garden?

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom День назад

      I do have deer but the only thing that they go after in my garden is my broccoli and cabbage. I didn’t get those to grow at all this year because the deer at them all. But in a way that’s okay because they left everything else alone!

  • @auroraborealis3764
    @auroraborealis3764 День назад

    Beautiful walk through thank you! I will be moving to a zone 3 from zone 8 and you are giving me hope that I can still garden. So thank you! Question, what are the white things around the hydrangea standards and a few other plants? What’s their purpose?

    • @simplybloom
      @simplybloom День назад

      Oh that sounds like quite a big move, I hope that goes well for you! And you can absolutely still have a beautiful garden! The white things are called tree guards and they have several Purposes behind them. Typically during the winter time we get a lot of snow and rodents and rabbits will go under the snow and eat the bark off the tree trunks and will kill the trees so the guards help prevent that from happening. Also the sun can hit the dark tree bark warming them up and then when the temps get really cold at night time it can cause the bark to split open so the white helps reflect the sunlight and can help prevent cracking. And third it can help prevent bucks from scraping their antlers on the trunk. I really don’t like the way the guards look but if it saves the trees then it’s worth it! Normally we use it on young trees and once they get more mature we will take them off. Tree guards come in several different sizes so as your tree grows you can go up in size.

    This night i Got similar situation, house sprayed middle of the night. I open all the windows and started a fire in the stove to keep the house and the baby from freezing. I Smoked the house acciddently a little bit. I realized the smell was 50% gone where the smoke was. Search it up a bit on internet, apparently there is a chemical reaction between smoke and skunk spray that neutralise the skunk smell. I gave it a go and smoke the house good, on purpose, with the wife looking at me strangely. I ran all the ceilling fan to mix the air good. The skunk smell is gone, or at least well covered since. Maybe i am nose blind , but even coming in from outside i dont smell the skunk at all ..... hopefully it can help someone....please dont kill yourself with the smoke.

    They are adorable, great job! One thing you might consider is to spray the pumpkins with a clear gloss enamel. It would make them shiny. Just a thought.
