“As broad and as deep as any other life” YESSSS
Glad he's very blunt and I couldn't agree more about diversity. Hollywood ironically has shoehorned diversity into this one stereotype, in their attempt to depict diversity. At the same time black artists need to start telling diverse stories and that doesn't mean "black stories". A ridiculous characterization that I've come to dislike. How often do we see a sci fi film with a black lead. Thank goodness for the creator, we need more stories like that, which explore the wide spectrum of filmmaking and just happen to have a black character with a story.
I'll be more impressed when a 100% POC makes a movie like Titantic, ET, Oppenheimer, Jurassic Park, Chinatown, Avatar, etc.
Don't forget Christopher Nolan's TENET, which had John David Washington in the lead as well.
I can’t wait to see what Cord brings next, into the cinema space. American Fiction is so good- so intentionally layered, and refreshing. Based from the impactful book, ‘Erasure’, by Percival Everett. 💛🎬📕
This is just so cool! So glad American Fiction made it to the Oscars and won!
LOVE THIS!!!
Cord Jefferson has now won a Primetime Emmy for "Watchmen" & an Oscar for "American Fiction." He only needs Grammy and Tony Awards to complete EGOT Status.
Brilliant Cord!
🎉congratulations! A great movie, funny, relevant, smart!!!🎉
That's right!! PREACH!!
Amen!
This is exactly what we have been needing in the Community and America.
I’m done with Tyler Perry and films that are driven by hip hop and gang culture.
We are not a Monolithic community.
Unfortunately even some Black Americans feel that we are and this needs to be eliminated so that we can embrace the different people within our community.❤
I love this guy. I hope to meet him one day.
👏🏽
This guy is visionary.

Real Black Stories MATTER!
That means a lot coming from a guy that looks like he could be Rachel Dolezal's brother 😂
😈😈😈🦾
I'm happy for him but american fiction is a regular movie. Nothing special or artistic
"Theres an audience for things that our different"

great. Pay for your own movies than. I hear Oprah and Jay-Z got money
@@geoff3103 your feelings got hurt huh😂
@@Blufishiisounds like your feelings got hurt.😂 And have been hurt for a long time 😂😂😂
i'll be more impressed when a real POC creates a movie like Oppenheimer or Holdovers or Barbie or Batman.
American Fiction was magnificent. Up there with those films and rightfully so. Way to move the goalpost, l0 ser. If it's not one thing it's another with folks like you.
@@lxXSuddenDeathXxlWhy do you say POC can't do movies like that? Moving the goal post huh? Care to elaborate on that? Your words, not mine.
@@geoff3103 It’s no wonder you need someone to elaborate simple words to you like a 5-year-old. Putting words in my mouth like an untrustworthy individual.
@@lxXSuddenDeathXxlaawww you mad! LOL
There's already a lot of movie with black people that are not stereotype. Nothing knew here...
Ooo, name a few!!
@@K_patts8370 Just Will Smith how many different type of chacarters he play, they think we are still in 1930's...
@@wwooooff yeah english is not my first language, the real evil is creating probleme that don't exist.
@@wwooooff stupid is when you don't have any argument like you
You are right. Will Smith has had the unique opportunity to play all types of characters. However, most of those characters were written for white actors with a few notable exceptions and weren't depictions of a black experience. You could have inserted any actor into those roles and made the same film. Will Smith's portrayal of real people; Muhammed Ali, Richard Williams and Chris Gardner are wonderful displays of the 'diversity within the diversity' that the Cord Jefferson is talking about. It would be great to see writers develop projects that AREN'T biographical that have that same level of character development and study of the human experience. After all, black people are HUMAN.
ffs Oscars! you have one job ONE fking job to do!! Oppenheimer's full sweep!!
Oppenheimer literally won 7 oscars, stop complaining
