Hypnotized Love (A University Thesis Project)

A Thesis project for my 4th year Integrated Digital program.
The reason and concept behind this project is to challenge the audience to observe and question what is real and surreal. With the use of juxtaposition; the combination of real life footage of fish and animated abstract elements, I will convey this contrast to entice that surrealism.
Taken from philosopher Sigmund Freud’s theory about the subconscious, the fish represent our most inner thoughts and dreams. I am using Abstract Expressionism to convey Freud’s theory which states that it is through abstract that people can start to think about what the colors and lines mean for them, whether it can be transferred from a feeling or a dream. These tools are used to create a painting of pure thoughts and emotions, ultimately allowing the viewer to interpret the piece in their own personal way. Abstract Expressionists also share the desire of using art to express the subconscious or untouched, which corresponds to the theory from Sigmund Freud.
