Unlike a lot of the fans of the game personally i didn't really mind the change of pace the 2nd disc threw at you cause the 1st disc was such a roller coaster ride. Would i have loved to do more exploring & fighting sure cause we were so engaged with what the game was telling story wise. For me it were the characters i felt resonated more with me than the actual game play. I played quite a few visual novels during that time like Clannad & Fate Stay Night so watching what was happening wasn't to big a deal.
Yes, Xenogears DO need a proper remake, along with bringing back all those Disc 02 contents that weren't there before due to time constraints (including Maria and Emeralda getting Omnigears). Battle system is fine (and some polishing are welcome), but yea, area navigation is a pain sometimes. If only Monolith Soft can work with Square again JUST for this... FFVI - my favorite of the franchise - is also in a desperate need of a proper remaster/remake. The GBA version featured WAY better translation job (despite having less Woolseyism, which I am fine with) along with extra contents, but has reduced audio quality due to GBA's worse SPU and also a lot of graphical slowdowns. The iOS/Android versions, unfortunately, WRECKED the visual aesthetics with FF Dimensions graphics, which doesn't suit FFVI at all. Seriously, they should've given FFVI (and FFV by extension) the same treatment as FFIV on PSP, as that version of FFIV easily blows all the previous versions out of the water. And, NO, Square better not listen to those spoiled gamers of today and turn nearly EVERY remakes into action-RPG.
Hmm, I would actually really like the FF6 remake in modern 3D graphics like the FF7 Remake. Because the setting and art style is so extremely different to 7, that's why I find it so interesting. I guess the closest 3D FF to that we already have would be 12, which has a somewhat similar setting.
Yes an no, Octopath had low res pixel for the sake of the old school look. New 2D graphics have great animation and resolution I rather have a full on 3D remake a la FF7R than FF6 with low resolution sprites.
00:45 - The Legend of Dragoon 02:00 - Panzer Dragoon Saga 03:25 - Phantasy Star IV 04:37 - Parasite Eve 06:13 - Breath of Fire I, II 07:28 - Persona I, II, III 08:56 - Tales of Phantasia 10:23 - Fire Emblem 12:13 - Final Fantasy VI 13:52 - Xenogears
Xenosaga needs a remake not a remaster so they can undo the effing everything they did with 2, and make it the 6 or 7 game series it was supposed to be to begin with instead of cutting it short because 2 didnt sell well after they decided to turn it upside down and scratch their head wondering what happened. But fair enough it got a special mention only due to Namco's response. I just wanted to say a remaster instead of a remake would be criminal.
Yep, Xenosaga and Shenmue is EXACTLY why I'm not buying FF7R until the entire story is released and complete. If that means years, oh well. I'd have to replay them anyways if it takes years just to remember where I left off.
@@DannieRay23 You may want to take a look at the Brave New World Mod at ngplus.net. It is not as free form as Octopath, but there is a lot of thought put in to making the cast distinct from each other and also integral parts of a team.
I'll pay full price for a Legend of Dragoon Remake, I would love to hear Volcano on a modern day console lol. Parasite Eve I never played but a friend showed me the game and even tho I'm not into horror the RPG mechanics interests me so Im down to see a remake. Honestly I would like to see a Destiny or Rebirth remake over Phantasia, I think a lot of people in the Tales fanbase never played those two.
Honestly, seeing the latest tendency of messed up remakes, I'd rather wait for better times for videogames when companies start to care again about quality.
There's been a few excellent remakes recently but there's only a few companies that seem capable of delivering in that regard. It seems a lot of companies are just using their back catalog to cash in on nostalgia and not put a lot of effort into improving what was already there. I'm actually hoping with the recent increase of people staying at home and getting more into gaming we'll see a higher demand for quality games across the board. Hopefully, that translates to better remakes coming out.
Parasite Eve has always been at the top of my list followed by fire emblem: gothw. The last story I think is deserving as well, and ff 2,5,6,9 done by team bravely would be a dream come true, I know they rereleased resonance of fate no long ago but it needs a remake with a simplified battle system, story tweaks and adjustable difficulty to make it shine, I also think drakengard need an overhaul, there is a good lore with them, but the exicution just missed the mark, oh and would love to see persona 1 and 2.1 and 2.2 done in 3d like the popular ones
Well you're in luck. Parasite Eve might be getting... something. Square-Enix recently renewed their trademarks for Parasite Eve, which means they are likely working on something. Not sure if it's a remake or a new game entirely. Either way, it's fitting. Parasite Eve is closer to the original idea they had for Final Fantasy VII early on, and is largely pieced together from scraps left on FF7's cutting room floor. Female protagonist, noir theme, real life New York City, and an eldritch horror from within humanity itself. You could almost say Parasite Eve is the TRUE Final Fantasy VII.
Given how Geneology of the Holy War was a huge inspiration for Three Houses A remake seems likely. The closest you're probably going to get to a remaster of Final Fantasy IX is the PC version with the Moguri Mod installed.
You had us good Sir at The Legend of Dragoon.... man that game needs a modern release in the worst way such an amazing game. Thank you for all the love and knowledge you give the wife and I an so many others in the jrpg genre.Oh and Parasite Eve was one of my favorites from the PS1 era.
It needs a modern release with a much better English translation. It's... really rough. But good god, just playing the game again with better visuals would be amazing
There's plenty of great ones out there but my top two wishes would be the Valkyrie Profile series and Golden Sun. I totally agree with your last video about Covenant of the Plume to be a... bit of a disappointment to the hardcore fans who really wanted another main title game. As for Golden Sun, the fanbase is still very strong and it brings me hope that a follow-up will come true. But Dark Dawn failed on a lot of aspects and shouldn't be in our lasting memory for the franchise.
I feel like someone that actually likes old graphics, the high encounter rates, the turned base battles. Reading text with no voice acting. And yet I wasn't during the 90's.
i like them too i think the FF7 remake is good but still im kind of sad that it did not keep the turnbased style maybe speed up and more visuel flair but that just me.
@@gavinlucas9761 Nice profile pic, I just beated FFV and gotta admit I loved their job system, improved all the problems they did with FFIII, Id like to see a remake of it, its hard to find platforms to play it...
Vinasear I do think this is likely. I mean even Square Enix themselves just released an action figure for Xenogears. So even they know it has a decent fanbase.
@@chrisgelin515 The issue is it's a Monolith game. Ideally, they'd come to some joint agreement to co-create a remake. On that note, Monolith needs to remaster the Xenosaga collection.
Legend of Dragoon and Phantasy Star 4 would both be excellent remakes! I would spend top dollar for either one. Seeing Phantasy Star IV in 3D would be epic.
Although PSIV is my favorite game, I d be afraid of the way they'd handle it. Right now the game is straight to the point and very dynamic. Every half an hour or so you have a new goal or a story element that gives you some motivation to go further. I love the cutscene for that because they mastered the art of the panels. On the opposite game studio do not master the art of camera and "fmv", the in game cinematic are more than often poorly done and I am pretty sure they will add their own dialogues that do not serve the story and brake the rhythm... Then there is the problem of the rededisign which I am also afraid of... I am looking at YOU phantasy star 2 remake with nei instead of being a monster girl, they made her wear fanels and Lolita like accessories... :( I admit, I wouldn't mind an upgrade for the look of the game outside the battles. Battles are perfect like this so leave them be... But that s just my opinion
I'd love to see Live a Live get the FF7 remake treatment. Live a Live has a massive amount of story and I'd like to see it get reimagined in 3d. It also could use some combat fixes like a damage area preview and turn order display. Doubt it'll happen since it never came out in the US, but a guy can dream.
1 - Suikoden I (not by konami) 2 - Legend of Dragon 3 - Grandia I 4 - Jade Cocoon 5 - Atelier Iris Ii: Azoth of destiny 6 - Fire Emblem VI: Sword of Seals 7 - Parasite Eve II 8 - Rogue Galaxy 9 - Wild Arms I 10 - Final Fantasy VIII (not by Squareenix)

legend of dragoon remaster would be god send. What I think it should be is enhance the graphics, improve quality of music, flesh out the gameplay more like more additions, able to use all additions in combat and other cool features and we are solid since the story, pacing, and lore are just too good to change.
i'd say the first 2 cause persona 3 did get a lot of attention for a while... Still got overshadowed by 4 and ESPECIALLY 5, but I'd say Persona 3 was the entry title for a lot of people into the persona series until 5 hit.
@@matteste actually, i did forget... usually when someone says "first 3" they don't mean that so literally though... both parts to persona 2 is usually lumped together
Xenogears Chrono Cross Legend of Dragoon Parasite Eve Breath of Fire 3 Super Mario RPG Radiata Stories Phantasy Star IV Final Fantasy VI Shin Megami Tensei
Legend of the dragoon all damn day and also legend of legaia and I would kill for Xenogears with the ending that they ran out of money for added to the game.
All the Square game that deserve a remake should be done by the team that did Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default. They remember what the original Final Fantasy fans want (and keep it turnbased i would guess) At least Sega kind of understands the fans, seeing the Sonic Mania and the upcomming Streets of Rage 4, so maybe a new Phantasy Star game in the original style is closer than Legend of Dragoon or the likes.
Xenogears should be done full as it was intended and SE and Monolith Software cam workout something now days to do this since last year was the 20th anniversary and they brought out the bring arts of Fei, Elly and Weltall(WE NEED THE REST). Also, shame on you for not putting Skies of Arcadia Legends in there lol, that game NEEDS a remake too. Your 2 top spots are perfect
I'm glad you added Panzer Dragoon Saga on this list, the good news is that the guys who did the remake of the first game (MegaPixel Studio) said they would remake Saga if the remakes of the first two games sold well.
After what they did to FF7r I dont trust any of these companies to make a remake properly. They all want to inject their own OJ story cause they dont respect the fans. remember the reason Parasite eve died is cause NOMURA did part 2 and fucked with the plot of part 1 for no reason. Nomura has a habit of ruining things.
Unfortunately, while I too was disappointed in P. E 2 and 3, the reason it is as is is because they did not own the right for the universe adapted from the novel if I understand correctly. They had to transform the universe for licence reason. I might remember uncorrectly but this is what I heard back then. P. E for sure was a great game and I loved it too for its atmosphere and gameplay system
Remakes are like 50 - 50 (more or less) , if it change to much or genre change can be good or bad. i remember Lufia 2 got a Remake for DS , not many liked it.
Hey Erick, great video! Honestly, ever since playing the Trials of Mana remake demo, my opinion on what a remake should be has changed drastically. I used to think that a perfect remake would just add minor quality of life improvements and update the visuals, but now I feel that a remake should only exist if it fundamentally improves on the original, so to my preference I have to disagree about Phantasy Star 4. Phantasy Star 2 and 3 definitely need a remake in order to redeem themselves for modern audiences, since if you don't own a physical copy with the original box then it's nearly impossible to navigate those games without a guide, but aside from improving the encounter rate and visuals I think Phantasy Star 4 was perfect. And really, the only visual improvement that game needs is for the character portraits and sprites, everything else was absolutely gorgeous in Phantasy Star 4. I'm not saying a remake if done right wouldn't be welcome, but I don't trust modern Sega to put in the effort to give Phantasy Star 4 the treatment it deserves. Keep up the great work!
I just finished FF 7 Remake and thought to myself, I'd REALLY like to see Legend of Dragoon get this treatment! And then your video showed up in my mentions ^^
I love LOD, my friends call me lavitz because of that game, honestly the original combat style is very fun but for today standards I'm quite sure it would turn into an Action RPG as FF7, personally I dont mind as long as it comes :).
i really like the enegi you put in videos and a good list as usual, i wonded why , no wild arms, vagrant story, parasit eve 2, shadow hearts. but this is your list. i really like in this one how it was not so much graphics but gamemechanics that needed an overhaul. i like the sprites and some of the 3d models but yeah sometimes its frustating as all hell on how they control or on how the UI is set up
FF VI did have a "remake", on android, with new sprites and graphics (though I think it was just a weird filter). Tales of Phantasia had 2 remakes, one on playstation and one on PSP / IOS.
@@martinde-serres8724 yes, FF vi for Android was heavily criticised. IIRC using Sabin special ability crashed the game on the first release. I did not play it, I finished the game in the GBA. A remake none the less.
@@KnolanCross no it's not a remake FF3 and 4 on the DS are remakes of their respective games 5 and 6 on mobile are just botched ports with a crappy 'HD' filter slapped on them
That was't exactly HD filter. What they did was applying the visual style of FF Dimensions to these two mobile ports, and that seriously WRECKED the aesthetics of FFVI in particular.
My top 10: -Shadow Hearts -Shadow Hearts Covenant -Koudelka (All these three could be put in one ultimate remake as the stories from the three games follow) -Vagrant Story (ARPG but still has RPG elements) -Vandal Hearts 1 (TRPG but a masterpiece) -Gungnir (TRPG) -Stella Deus (TRPG) -Kegend of Dragoon -Legend of Dragoon -Wild Arms 3
Really hope we get a collection for the Growlanser games. Since 2 and 3(Generations) are controlled by Working Designs now Gaijinworks, I hope maybe one day Atlus can figure out a way to finally get Growlanser 1 and 6 outside Japan and maybe even a remaster of of 4 and 5.
I really hoped we would get the PSP version of the first Growlanser since we got 4 but nope they passed on it. :( Previously I would have said there is no chance in hell for Growlanser to come back and get localized but I would have said the same thing about Langrisser. lol
When FFIV had a remake on Nintendo Ds, existed a rumor from square to make FFV and FFVI, but the low sales report form the Ds version, buried that rumor... And I like to see a remake form BoF but 1 to 4 on new consoles
Vagrant Story!! VAGRANT STORY is begging for a high-quality remake! It's such a gem of a game from the PS1 era, with masterful storytelling, writing, deep and complex gameplay, and cinematic presentation. Imagine how amazing Lea Monde would look like on modern hardware! And as amazing as the game is, there are some quality-of-life improvements that would greatly benefit the game: - Allow quicker switching of your equipment - Storing and retrieving equipment from your Stash is suuuuuper slow and tedious since you have to save your game each time - Difficulty setting to make it a little more manageable for a wider audience (the original is notoriously difficult) Also, a big portion of the story had to be cut for time and budget reasons, so expanding on the already fantastic story is another great reason to revisit this game. It's one of the most unique and special games Square has done that deserves a remake!
Phantasia is still such a beautiful game. If they ever did remake it I would want them to still keep all the original graphics. Just expand the combat, and lower the encounter rate. Maybe fix some of the dungeons that require specific rings and stuff to explore them. Legend of Dragoon is my 2nd favorite game of all time. I would cry to see a remake. If they ever done PE1 I'd like to see the game expanded similar to the FF7 Remake Part 1, but the story needs to stay the same. One of PE1s strengths was it's short run time. 10 hour rpgs are rare and often a breath of fresh air. My 2 biggest wishes are: Vagrant story - To fix the cumbersome combat controls and maybe make some of the magic actually useful Shadow Madness - This game was never good, but had a lot of potential. I'd like a remake that sees it actually hit its potential.
Please stop calling for remakes in the vein of Final Fantasy VII. I know a lot of people like action RPGs more, but when I tried the demo for FF7R I just couldn’t stand the gameplay. There is no reason to turn perfectly fine turn-based systems into frustrating action/menu hybrids.
Square Enix has lost touch with its fan base. They forget they that majority of those fans like turn based games which is why their sells have been falling since ffX. Octopath traveller moves millions of units on the switch when it was early in its lifespan. Where’s as 7 and 15 are struggling to get to 5 million on two separate devices with a higher budget. Don’t get me wrong I like action RPGs too, but don’t try to turn all your games into that. turn based games still sell well in this era just look at Persona 5, fire emblem, ni no kuni, and xenoblade.
Tbh, I'm both for, and against the turn based system. Tons of RPGs lately have an action element to the point where it's standard, but also there's the charm of the older turn based systems. I'd honestly say that if a game can have BOTH options, then it'd be groundbreaking. Something that would let you switch between action and turn based battle systems at will.
Lmao - Bandai & Namco told us to go fuck ourselves. This is my first video of you, was not expecting that at the end LOL. Xeno series is my favorite series and Chrono Cross is my favorite RPG too. Glad you have good taste in masterpieces.
I think Valkyrie Profile could use some kind of re-polishing or remastering/remaking...not from the ground up necessarily, I just want to see a mass-accessible version of the game from a gameplay standpoint. Some of the dungeons are very difficult to get around without a guide or at least some help, and I *LOVE* this game...I just think it’s criminally underrated and could use some help receiving the praise it deserves.
I totally agree with you on Phantasy Star 3 and FE4 and 5! I couldn’t get much into Phantasy Star 3 because it was so slow, so if there was a remake I’d love for it to be fast and because it has a genealogy system. I loved playing FE4 and would be over the moon if they remade it along with 5 as a bundle. Hopefully our wishes come true at some point in the future!
Awesome video! I have to be the one to mention Shadow Hearts. Love that game, would've loved to see the cancelled Shadow Hearts 3 that was going to be a prequel about Yuri's father
The last Story Final Fantasy IX final fantasy vii crisis core Lost odyssey Pandora's Tower Persona 3 & 4 Skies of Arcadia Rogue Galaxy Shadow Hearts Tales of the Abyss
Adding my support for a remake of Legend of Dragoon. Seriously underrated and in dire need of a reboot/remake. Loved the interactive turn based combat.
I can't honestly see FF6 being remade by Square. The game is twice as big than FF7, and Remake already had problems recreating it on the current system and splitting into parts. It would literally be impossible for them to take on such a massive challenge and the amount of maps to be recreated to AAA standards would take them more time than what it took for Midgar Remake. Imagine they cut corners (which they already do) and try to make it an action rpg and limit the characters on screen to 3 in battle instead of 4, only able to cast Espers on bosses, and no suplex on a train. No thanks, I rather keep the memory of it the way it is than to see it recreated. Final Fantasy 8 would work far better in that remake style honestly
I think FF9 needs it more because of how ridiculous the plot feels rushed in certain areas, especially the last 2 discs holy shit was alot of the game just going full random with plot twists and if you didnt have the internet you would be confused as hell. I cant say anything more than the plot feeling rushed and random because I dont want to feel the wrath of erick for spoilers. FF6 on the other hand to me the sprites are what gives it it's charm most it needs is a small touch up on the sprites and mechanics a remaster be good enough.
9:38 acutally phantasia has been remade... twice even, one in the psx and another in the psp. both are amazing, with the psp version being almost as good as eternia. still, phantasia is my favorite tales of, even today, no tales has ever been more balls to the wall insanity as phantasia...
Even with 24 years old Genealogy of the Holy War is considered as the best Fire Emblem ever by many fans it's incredible. For me only Radiant Dawn and his god-tier level design is better. And maybe Path of Radiance the same level. You're right about Thracia 776. I think it is playable and cool but it's outdated because of some crazy mechanics !
Xenogears is #1 for me as well, but not just that. I've been playing through Xenosaga recently and developed a new fondness for it (minus the awful sidequests in EP2), and I've read through Perfect Works multiple times. The IPs need to be sold to one developer and merged. There is barely any difference in plot between the Xenosaga games and Chapter 1 of Perfect Works. That whole story needs to be told the way it was intended from the start.
Excellent list, i agree with all of the suggestions. The stories in Xenogears and the Persona 2 duology are among the best stories told, in any jrpg ever - a remake could do wonders for these games. As for Breath of Fire II, i'd recommend the fan-translated version, as it improves on some gameplay issues and the notorious translation.
A remake for Legend of Dragoon would only need to prioritize environment. Walking around in full rotating 3D with HD fleshed out towns and dungeons from the original game would be great. You could still have turn based battles, but instead of in another screen, it could take place in the same environment as the adventuring, like Rogue Galaxy did, however the turn base being like Grandia.
I personally like the idea of someone doing a prequel to Legend of Dragoon. This huge war happens way in the past in that game's story and you really only get a few glimpses of what happened back then throughout. Yeah, getting a remake of the original game would be great too but there's enough there to makes a far more expansive world that spans several millennia.
One game that also might a remake is Legend of Legaia. That is one of the best games that I've played before. The story is very good, the gameplay is great but it is dated, needs a remake.
This guy talks about Action RPGs like they require no skill. FFVI being remade with an improved/remixed version of the FFVII remake's combat would be amazing. Tho, it's best to see what the combat will be in the final part, because they'll add more to it in the subsequent parts.
I feel like LOD is nearly an action RPG what with the timed button presses. It would benefit from a turn-based/action hybrid battle system like FF7r, in my opinion.
Seeing as how closely connected PE is to FF7, with Aya and Daniel being analogous to Cloud and Barret, I would love to see her as a party member in the FF7 remake with a transformation. Or her own Remake, of course. And because LoD and Legend of Legaia are in the same time period for me so that I can't think of one without the other and I have fond memories of both, I would love to see either a Remake for Vahn, Noa and Gala or a good canon sequel.
If Tales of Phantasy remake comes out , i hoping it's based on the PSP version and it's part 2. i don't remember much about the 2nd one , think it's Tales of Phantasia Narikiri Dungeon X ?
I 100% agree with every game on the list the main reason why I like your channel because you stick to various jrpg in RPG games that are extremely forgotten that don't all have long running franchises , the 90s to the early 2000s with such a great time for RPGs , but getting towards remasters and remakes is so difficult because some just stay on certain devices, especially devices that aren't even popular over here in the West , we just never get those games , instead we got eight different versions of the same game for some reason , the first three Persona games I had to play emulated versions of them on my phone , I'm not proud of that , because it doesn't feel the same but it's the only way to play them with persona on the Sony classic I was tempted to buy it , but rather play at least a better version of the game.
Hey Erick what's up! With FF7's remake being, in my mind despite some story change controversy, one of the best things to happen to gaming in a LONG TIME. I hadda start looking into this category. So many old games people would throw fists of cash at companies for if they just did it
Totally agree that there are a lot of games that need a remake and that the turn based RPG's shouldn't automatically be turned into Action RPG's. Some suggestions for a more modern turn-based system would be to look at games like the Cold Steel franchise, FFXII or FFX-2. That said, the classic turn-based format can still work wonders, just look at Dragon Quest XI. I would also say that Final Fantasy IV and VIII could also use remakes rather than just enhanced ports. VIII needs a better combat and levelling system while IV could use modern graphics and to tone down some of the difficulty spikes. As for IX I would simply love to see it with modern graphics. Speaking of Tales of Games I would love a remaster of Tales of Xillia 1&2 for the PS4.
LEGEND OF DRAGOOOOOOON, this game was such a big part of my life when i was younger, i found the game in a thrift store and the 3rd disc didnt work, so thats where my story ended, but i know that if they remade this game it would be one of the best
Shinning force II... in my opinion is one of the best rpgs and though it doesn't need a remake, I would love a modern version of it! Keep the original core battle view and systems but just updated graphics and maybe some added features to add extra depth to class builds. This is something I've wanted/ waited a long time for.
*cries in xenosaga* I'm honestly still sad about what they said recently, but I hope they come back to them one day. I just would love more people to have access to it and discover the trilogy in general. But I hope its older friend xenogears manage to make it as the point you mentioned are indeed quite a few prob, the story and battle system though ? Amazing. I think honestly xenogears has a decent chance of getting at least a remaster with add ons ? We'll see ! Also Legend of dragoon needs more love, I would love to see at least a remaster of it TT_TT !!
You get a like for your thumbnail showing Rose and mentioning remake.
Yes. Legend of Dragoon needs a remake.
Just a remaster for the old homies, then a remake for the old homies :)
I would agree if I hadn't played the game again recently, making the combat a mandatory quick time event it's just tedious.
Yes yes yes.. and Mario RPG
I'd settle for a fucking rerelease at this point it's impossible to play without a ps3 or an emulator
indeed woul love a remake
The Legend of Dragoon is on the "Top spot" on my list. I cannot agree more.
I’ve always said that Xenogears didn’t need a remake, it needs to be finished.
My #1 gaming wish is to see the full story realized.
I played quite a few visual novels during that time like Clannad & Fate Stay Night so watching what was happening wasn't to big a deal.
i dont know, some people might not know what xenogears is, and therefore need a refresher or a good new game, but yeah it needs to be continued.
This!!! I just finished the game for the first time last year. Square OWES us this!
Glad to see some people still mentioning Xenosaga.
Xengears and Legend of Dragoon definitely needs a remake! Fire Emblem games would be awesome for a remake, too.
No
Yes, Xenogears DO need a proper remake, along with bringing back all those Disc 02 contents that weren't there before due to time constraints (including Maria and Emeralda getting Omnigears).
Ffvi needs a less retarded leveling system
I would rather FF6 be remade like Octopath Traveler than FF7R
I've been saying I want to see the first six FF games done in that style since it was revealed.
I agree. I don't want it to be FF7 Remake.
Hmm, I would actually really like the FF6 remake in modern 3D graphics like the FF7 Remake. Because the setting and art style is so extremely different to 7, that's why I find it so interesting. I guess the closest 3D FF to that we already have would be 12, which has a somewhat similar setting.
I could agree
Yes an no, Octopath had low res pixel for the sake of the old school look. New 2D graphics have great animation and resolution I rather have a full on 3D remake a la FF7R than FF6 with low resolution sprites.
00:45 - The Legend of Dragoon
02:00 - Panzer Dragoon Saga
03:25 - Phantasy Star IV
04:37 - Parasite Eve
06:13 - Breath of Fire I, II
07:28 - Persona I, II, III
08:56 - Tales of Phantasia
10:23 - Fire Emblem
12:13 - Final Fantasy VI
13:52 - Xenogears
I see Legend of Dragoon, I come, I like.
You had me at the thumbnail. I love LoD! Also Parasite Eve remade like Final Fantasy VII Remake would be incredible.
Oh Absolutely Parasite Eve redone in FF7Remake style would push that game over the top. LoD is my favorite game too.
I just wanted to say a remaster instead of a remake would be criminal.
i'm right there with you, but they all but confirmed that we won't be seeing xenosaga anytime soon last year... :(
They already did that with Xenosaga 1+2 on the Nintendo DS which rewrites most of Xenosaga 2, too bad it never got translated
Yep, Xenosaga and Shenmue is EXACTLY why I'm not buying FF7R until the entire story is released and complete. If that means years, oh well. I'd have to replay them anyways if it takes years just to remember where I left off.
I would ask for a Suikoden remake but honestly, I’d rather just have a Suikoden VI. But I’ll say Tales of Rebirth too though.
Agree Suikoden with DQXI graphic would be great
@@haseoxv9508 If I could ever afford such a thing, I'd personally fund that!

Just give me a remake of Final Fantasy VI with the graphics of Octopath Traveler and i'm fine!!!
not just the graphics but the combat system aswell. This is numero uno in my wishlist.
@@DannieRay23 the leveing system needs to be better ie: chossing stats to raise instead of espers
@@DannieRay23 You may want to take a look at the Brave New World Mod at ngplus.net. It is not as free form as Octopath, but there is a lot of thought put in to making the cast distinct from each other and also integral parts of a team.
Valkyrie Profile please really pretty graphics
I'll pay full price for a Legend of Dragoon Remake, I would love to hear Volcano on a modern day console lol. Parasite Eve I never played but a friend showed me the game and even tho I'm not into horror the RPG mechanics interests me so Im down to see a remake. Honestly I would like to see a Destiny or Rebirth remake over Phantasia, I think a lot of people in the Tales fanbase never played those two.

Honestly, seeing the latest tendency of messed up remakes, I'd rather wait for better times for videogames when companies start to care again about quality.
You read my mind.
Trials of Mana and Xenoblade Chronicles seem to be done right
@@joejoejohnson8310 they are exceptions to the rule and Nomura is to explain why final fantasy 7 remake went off the rails
Trials of Mana seems good. Hopefully they learned from Secret.
Xenogears was a flawed masterpiece
But still my favorite JRPG. They reached for the stars - and very nearly got them!
Xenogears has the most complex story in any JRPG I have ever played
This is the best description of Xenogears I have ever heard.
Kenshin Himura just imagining how it could be with next-gen capabilities and fluidity would be incredible!
I feel like someone that actually likes old graphics, the high encounter rates, the turned base battles. Reading text with no voice acting. And yet I wasn't during the 90's.
great thing :) buy all the hard physical copies soon as you can as we are 8 to 12 years from all digital only.....
@@michaelcoffey1991 Thanks. I enjoyed a lot of old RPGs due to there simplicity and that there straight forward. :-D

Yup
Vinasear I do think this is likely. I mean even Square Enix themselves just released an action figure for Xenogears. So even they know it has a decent fanbase.
@@chrisgelin515 The issue is it's a Monolith game. Ideally, they'd come to some joint agreement to co-create a remake. On that note, Monolith needs to remaster the Xenosaga collection.
I come into this video expecting only 10 through 1 being Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2.. Left getting more great ideas! Great video, keep it up man!
I just want a fully rendered CGI scene of Celes at the Opera.
Legend of Legaia is my pick for a remake, I would also love something from Legend of dragoon or Chrono Trigger/Cross.
I admit, I wouldn't mind an upgrade for the look of the game outside the battles.
Rose makes me think of Hrist. I would also love to see more Valkyrie Profile. A third game, a remaster or a remake. Just give me more VP!
A new game. The other two doesn't need to be remade.

legend of dragoon remaster would be god send. What I think it should be is enhance the graphics, improve quality of music, flesh out the gameplay more like more additions, able to use all additions in combat and other cool features and we are solid since the story, pacing, and lore are just too good to change.
Xenogears!! Right on. I'd give anything to see the story completed.
The first three Persona games are pretty much just a myth to Atlus.
i'd say the first 2 cause persona 3 did get a lot of attention for a while... Still got overshadowed by 4 and ESPECIALLY 5, but I'd say Persona 3 was the entry title for a lot of people into the persona series until 5 hit.

Legend of the dragoon all damn day and also legend of legaia and I would kill for Xenogears with the ending that they ran out of money for added to the game.
All the Square game that deserve a remake should be done by the team that did Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default. They remember what the original Final Fantasy fans want (and keep it turnbased i would guess)
At least Sega kind of understands the fans, seeing the Sonic Mania and the upcomming Streets of Rage 4, so maybe a new Phantasy Star game in the original style is closer than Legend of Dragoon or the likes.
Awesome video man! I agree with all your choices, and personally I'd really like if they made an HD collection for the Xenosaga trilogy.
I just finished FF 7 Remake and thought to myself, I'd REALLY like to see Legend of Dragoon get this treatment! And then your video showed up in my mentions ^^
Do you think the 1st Valkyrie Profile game or FFIX need remake?
He means from the ground up. Polishing sprites doesn't really count and the Tales ports are the same situation really.
no, FF6 on mobile was just a botched remaster like what they did with 5
@@martinde-serres8724 yes, FF vi for Android was heavily criticised. IIRC using Sabin special ability crashed the game on the first release. I did not play it, I finished the game in the GBA.
A remake none the less.
@@KnolanCross no it's not a remake
FF3 and 4 on the DS are remakes of their respective games
5 and 6 on mobile are just botched ports with a crappy 'HD' filter slapped on them
That was't exactly HD filter. What they did was applying the visual style of FF Dimensions to these two mobile ports, and that seriously WRECKED the aesthetics of FFVI in particular.
My top 10:
-Shadow Hearts
-Shadow Hearts Covenant
-Koudelka

-Stella Deus (TRPG)
-Kegend of Dragoon
-Legend of Dragoon

I really hoped we would get the PSP version of the first Growlanser since we got 4 but nope they passed on it. :(

What was the game in the ending of your intro just after the fire dragon transformation of in chrono cross?
Legend of Dragoon should be number 1. That game was a true FF killer and very ahead of its time
Shining Force games please. although 1 and 2 don't really need one, 3 could use it, but i'd love for all of them to be remade in glorious HD
And as amazing as the game is, there are some quality-of-life improvements that would greatly benefit the game:
- Allow quicker switching of your equipment
- Storing and retrieving equipment from your Stash is suuuuuper slow and tedious since you have to save your game each time
- Difficulty setting to make it a little more manageable for a wider audience (the original is notoriously difficult)
Also, a big portion of the story had to be cut for time and budget reasons, so expanding on the already fantastic story is another great reason to revisit this game.
My 2 biggest wishes are:
Vagrant story - To fix the cumbersome combat controls and maybe make some of the magic actually useful
Shadow Madness - This game was never good, but had a lot of potential. I'd like a remake that sees it actually hit its potential.
I want Suikoden, I mean imagine Suikoden with DQ XI graphic
I enjoy most types of RPGs expect Online games...
Tbh, I'm both for, and against the turn based system. Tons of RPGs lately have an action element to the point where it's standard, but also there's the charm of the older turn based systems.
I'd honestly say that if a game can have BOTH options, then it'd be groundbreaking. Something that would let you switch between action and turn based battle systems at will.
that is unfair of you to say though.

What about Vagrant Story ? This game really need a remake !

Legend of Legaia 1 and 2. Also Rogue Galaxy. Those are my picks
Legend of dragoon should be nummer one. It's so iconic
Adding my support for a remake of Legend of Dragoon. Seriously underrated and in dire need of a reboot/remake.
Loved the interactive turn based combat.
My gripe with a phantasy star 4 remake is that i don’t want to see Gryz miss every attack in HD lol
Seeing as I cannot buy anything new, I want a short and sweet list of games i can clear off my backlog real quick XD
Legend of Legaia. That game deserves a remake and could easily slot itself into the modern gaming market for it's battle system alone.
No shining force 3, golden sun or final fantasy tactics?
I’m a simple guy, i see Rose in thumbnail, i click and give like
why no body mentioned CHRONO TRIGGER !??
One game that also might a remake is Legend of Legaia. That is one of the best games that I've played before. The story is very good, the gameplay is great but it is dated, needs a remake.
I also want the first 3 persona games to be remade,
but sadly, if they were they'd probably get censored, with things as they are,
This guy talks about Action RPGs like they require no skill.
You, sir, have my respect for owning a Growlanser title, much less even KNOWING about the series. A series that often gets overlooked.
Legend of dragoon with modern day graphics yes please. Maby a new breath of fire with The same style as The game trials of mana. Would that work??
Xenogears still holds up pretty well, but a remake would be awesome for sure. That game was wayyyyyy better than expected.
