I saw his behind the music on VH1 I believe. He had been clean and sober there at the end and he was getting ready to take TF OVER. He talked about being happy and free due to his found sobriety. Scary good who knows if he didn't get on that plane but IMO he's known far and everywhere for being the best. The of your comment that inspired mine was the way he said I'm sobor with genuine happiness he then let his guitar say what sober feels like to him and everyone understood. The instrument that could say it better than the voice. SRV is legend.

I read Buddy's book a couple months ago, and his respect for SRV, even though it was a short window they had, is beautiful. The 4:17 mark of this shows such great friendship, and I'm so happy for this clip. Long live the blues, as it is the foundation to most music. Buddy’s really a strong singer, here, too. Those old school guys, like Muddy, had a half-spoken/half-sung style that takes tons of “mojo” to pull off.

I saw buddy in a small club in Ohio right before "damn right I got the blues came out"....he was on fire. He was playing Jeff beck, Hendrix, clapton, etc. and he was finishing songs..... from start to finish. He was playing serious blues like this too. best show I've ever been to. Rock on buddy!

super duper Yeah im 58 and i have been an avid fan of da' blues since around 11 years of age when i first started playing the harp. I remember those cassettes of Howling Wolf, Sonny Terry, Muddy Waters, Little Walter and many others. Roots music! So many (including Hendrix) have been influenced by these bluesmen. Although i have been playing harp all these years u consider myself average. I have alot of my jams on utube. Give a listen; jimmy c the cycle time blues will get you started. Jimmy c and ec is another one. Give a listen and see what you think. Love the blues and always will. Im heavely into the Gospel Blues. My favorite in that genre is The Glen Kaiser Blues Band. Also The Darrell Mansfield Band is another favorite of mind. And we all cant forget the awesome Blind Willie Johnson. Even Steve Tyler and Aerosmith did a few sings of Blind Willies on the cd Honkin' On Bobo. Awesome stuff.
