    I noticed the white stripe on the plastic bag used to protect the dial while removing the hands left a mark on the dial. You may want to be careful to ensure any printing on the plastic bag is facing up (or use a plastic bag with no printing on it) to avoid leaving any marks on the dial.

    Very interesting to see honest hobbyist making videos of their work, without ‘lying’ / ‘cutting’ difficulties they met. Most of ‘professional’ videos despite the fact they are very instructive present most of the time a ‘fairy tale of watch restoration / servicing’ , thank you for posting and having shared that with us , and don’t listen to negative critics that don’t provide any interesting comments. As we say in Switzerland ‘la critique est facile, mais l’art est difficile’

      The bonus about the way I managed to get the insert off is that you can keep it and always put it back on at a later date. 👍

    Absolute noob to the servicing / fixing side here, just considering which of his broken watches will be a first attempt at modding/estoring, having watched umpteen videos over the last 6 months.
    Then: lo and behold! It's my actual watch, in exactly the same condition!
    Very useful, thank you for posting!

    It is not bad, but the rotor is not aligned as manual said for 7s26A. Appart from that, seiko insert didn’t come alone without bezel so aftermarket piece are supposed to mount which is not what I will use for a restoration neither superglue. Thanks for the video

    That’s quite the battle scar you introduced to the dial when you took the hands off 🤦🏻‍♂️ I thought it was just some contact material from the plastic, but was still there when you cased it back up. Also, having noted that a foot was broken would have been value add to show how you re-attached. 2c.

      It’s just from the grip seal bag, I thought I’d cleaned it all off but the camera shows all right. It’s all cleaned off and in good condition.

    Did he just scratch the dial upon removing the hands?

    Great video! Seeing the heart of the skx worked on makes me appreciate mine a lot more. Thanks for sharing your skills and expertise.
    Where do you order parts for the watch, such as the OEM bezel insert?

    I am impressed by 7s26, it's cheap and can run forever. Indestructible little movement. Btw did you oil the parts before reassembly?

    • @timebanditwatches3249
      @timebanditwatches3249  Год назад

      Yes all oiled appropriately as part of the service.

    I had a clean black SKX007 one but power reserve is only 2-3 hours, would love to get it serviced. Seems like the pendulum might not be working smooth, seems noisy.

    This model SKX is probably Malaysian- made, showing the nylon calendar and date changing cogs. I was told that the Japanese -made "J" model uses metal cogs for that, not Nylon? Any truth in that, as I have seen Seikos from the 1970s using nylon.

    It’s unfortunate the dial was damaged while removing the hands. Totally ruined the aesthetics of the watch. 😮

    Would you answer me if the chapter ring is made of plastic or metal ?

  • @tiagodvt
    @tiagodvt Год назад

    Great work, but the chapter ring is fairly misaligned. I know it is not your problem, but Seiko's fault. You'd have to "trim" the chapter ring feet and line it up yourself to fix it

      Bit harsh, apart from the dial which has already been address in the previous comments and come out looking fine. Please let give me more details, as an amateur/hobbyists I’m always keen to learn.
