Microsoft plans to invest US$1.7b in Indonesia

- Microsoft has said that it will invest US$1.7 billion in Indonesia to help build up the country's artificial intelligence infrastructure. This is the tech giant's biggest investment in its 29-year history in the country. The spending will take place over four years. CEO Satya Nadella made the announcement after meeting Indonesian President Joko Widodo during his tour of Southeast Asia. Chandni Vatvani reports from Jakarta.

Indo Government put limits on electronic imports to protect domestic manufacturers. so if apple wants to enter Indo market, they have to build here. That's all about it... None end up as vapor ware, if there is nothing to burn in the first place.

Microsoft investing smaller here than M'sia, and some time ago Apple only build Apple Academies (and not production facility) in Indonesia. Big companies looking at Indonesia but still very much thinking twice to invest. Harsh truth, as Indonesian, I feel they look upon us only bc of market size and cheap resource.

If it's been language barrier and currency could be other, if 1m rupiah is sgd$200, maybe its rupiah to create ease of camera usage at public point? Cloud to save image and video to database on a webhosting folder(the customer's profile place), a kind of auto send to computer too, maybe it don't exist yet? Can save more without buying alot of memory cards etc.
indonesia should be careful because american companies are famous for their underlying data tactics & complicated rules which will then be a deficit for Indonesia.
