That is a great ride. On the other end of the options, you could get the rail wheels to allow it to drive up on the track and run on the rails like work vehicles. That would be awesome to use on a private rail line.
Thanks! I have plans to make another video with my grandfather on the building of it. He made a scrapbook at the time of construction that I’ve converted to a PowerPoint so we can go over it together for the video along with whatever he can remember. However, scheduling a time that works for both of us has proven to be challenging.
Nice ride. I live near the Volo Auto Museum in Volo Illinois and I'll have to get out there next spring because they got the street train locomotive from the movie Inception late last year..
I ALWAYS THOUGHT A GREAT STUNT WOULD BE TO BUILD SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND RUN IT IN A TOWN THAT HAVE STREET AND RR RIGHT OF WAY TOGETHER !! THEN AT NIGHT WHEN THE BARS ARE CLOSING AND THE DRUNKS ARE DRIVING, FOLLOW THEM WHEREVER THEY GO, HANGING CLOSE TO THEIR BACK BUMPER!ANOTHER THING FUN TO DO IS CREEP UP BEHIND SOMEONE SITTING AT A GRADE CROSSING, WAITING FOR THE TRACKS TO CLEAR! LOL THIS WOULD BE BETTER THAN PINK ELEPHANTS AS A VISUAL STUNT!!! LOLOL
I’ll have to see if we have any video of it in a parade. I know we have a bunch of pictures, but I’m unsure if any video exists that I’ll have easy access to.
Be sure to watch the video I did with my grandfather for my 100 subscriber special! We go into as much depth as he can remember! With pictures and everything!
@@darthgonk5648 It probably could. We’d have to put a hitch on it, which it does have an attachment for, but it’s be interesting to see how that would work. I’ve been trying to get him to build something to go behind it for parades, but I think we’d have to reposition the trailer hitch attachment location as it’s a little high. I got him a knuckle coupling trailer hitch cover though to add a little more realism 😂
I’d push for a caboose as well. I’d push for an extended vision one with seats up in the cupola like in a real one. With speakers hidden on either side pumping out sounds like a life sized rail sounds car.
It is possible, we’d just need to add a better air compressor to the setup. Currently it feeds the horn and it isn’t strong enough to do both since it’s from an old school bus. It does have a bell that has been cleaned up and polished, but it can’t be used right now for that reason. It might be a future upgrade though when it gets repainted.
Darned if it doesnt look and sounds real! It only needs couplers to finish off the details, and VOILA! Pick up your girl and go for a whirl on Saturday night. Bet you would get some strange looks if its street legal!🤔🚂👍👍❗
It actually DOES have a trailer hitch that I bought a knuckle coupler shaped cover for. 😂 It IS street legal. It doesn’t come out often. Usually for events or parades.
@@southerneaglelines if you are still in school, you should get permission to drive it to school occasionally, that would surely turn a few heads, seeing a diesel locomotive in a school parking lot.
I couldn’t tell ya how much is in it, it’s been so long since my grandfather started working on it. It IS street legal, but you better not be in a hurry to get anywhere 😅
Well it’s made one or two appearances at career days, and birthday parties for kids around town, but it’s in need of a repaint and a tune up. My grandpa and I are talking about paint schemes right now. I kinda want to keep it Santa Fe, but want it to be a little more prototypical. But we’ll see what happens. Thanks for the question!
It is actually street legal! We get a few weird looks when it does go on the road, which is somewhat rare as it only comes out for special events like town events and local parades, but it IS street legal.
Okay, this is super cool! We definitely need a video of your grandpa going over how he built/modified this beast!
I’m sure he’d be all for it! He loves to talk about it just as much as I do!
This is amazing. We all want to see more, much more.
Check out the video I did for my 100 subscribers special! I go much more in depth with my grandpa and show work in progress pictures!
That's amazing!!! All my compliments, dude!!!
What a masterpiece and a beautiful build too. Thanks for posting this as well. Have a nice day.
Glad you enjoyed it!
"Where we're going we don't need tracks!?!"
Very nice dang but it sounds like you had a really cool grandpa. Have a great day everyone
I did a second video with this grandpa talking about the build process! It’s on my channel! Thanks for the comment!
So cool! Like to see more.

Da sound the baddest! Awesome idea, at low speed on the dirt road almost rocks back and forth like the real thing! Jm
It does!
imagine driving this through town
It’s pretty fun honestly 😂
very well done, your grand father was smart. looks great
Thank you!
That is so amazing, I love it. Thanks for sharing, I just subscribed. Looking forward to any updates.
Thank you so much!
That’s fantastic dude 👍🏻👏
dude this is freaking AWESOME !!! I want one :)
I love it!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks! I'm glad!
WOW!THIS IS SO COOL!LOOK AT THIS ! ITS BEAUTIFUL!
Thanks!
Totally freaking cool and awesome 😊😊😊
Thanks!
Love your Santa fe railroad t-shirt
That thing is awesome, wish it were mine for sure. would be fun driving it up I 85 to NC
The RUclips algorithm never disappoints
This is so cool 😎 cudos to your grandpa amazing work 👍
Fascinating!
Thanks!
Cool vehicle it almost sounds like a real diesel locomotive .
It does doesn’t it?!
That would SCARE the heel out of me if i came around a corner and saw it!!
wow thats impressive that he did it all himself
That’s so awesome!!!
Glad you liked it!
This is awesome. As a railfan, I would love seeing this in a parade. It would blow my mind. Thank you for sharing this.

This has gotta be entered in parades and rented out at hobby and railfan groups. You gotta money hobby. Nice!
It’s been in countless parades! We’ve wanted to take it to a few shows, but it’s a little challenging to get it from place to place 😅
@@southerneaglelines I think hauling on a trailer with signage on how to rent it would draw many smiles on the road.
Imagine seeing that driving on the road
Great video
Thanks!
That's gotta be a sight, have you ever been pulled over in that thing?
I don’t remember honestly 😅. Either way, it’d be a funny story for everyone involved.
We need in depth videos of this.
You guys should do a horn war with a csx train and you guys
Like to see it on the highway, bet that would freak people out.
It’s certainly entertaining to see the faces of people as we pass by. Haven’t done the highway in a few years, but it’s pretty fun.
This is awesome! I would love seeing this in a parade.

Please do a more in-depth video of this locomotive truck 👍👍.
I’m working on it now! Should be coming very soon!
i want to see you drive to Walmart with this
Maybe some day… 😅
Cool
This would be a huge hit at the campground.

Wow! What does the horn sound like?
Look for the “More shots of the train!” Short on my channel! It has a good shot of the engine going by with the horn on full display!
Make more videos about this!
That is sooooooooooooooo cool man.🤠
Thanks!
Bro i want to try this
Get this thing in front of Doug Demuro!
Is it street legal?
It is!
Does it have power steering?? 🤔🤔
I’m pretty sure it does. It comes in super helpful.
would love the plans
I don’t think there were any official “plans”. I think a lot of it was just a case of “play with it until it works” 😂
drive this on the road
I would love to buy it, is it for sale?
Thanks for your interest! I don’t think it is though.
Would be be able to add a bell onto it?
