As a few people have pointed out to me, I have made an error in this video. The cylindrical container of bio balls in the middle of the filter should be attached to the top lid. When you do this, the suction from the floor of the tank is much better and this does indeed do a pretty good job of drawing in fish waste and creating decent circulation. My final conclusion still stands though, this is definitley not something I would rely on for filtration, but in terms of keeping on top of fish waste in a heavily stocked tank, it works really well! Apologies about the mistake. 👍
I got one of these in Japan. Sent it to Pondguru who pimped it out for me and featured it in one of his pimp my filter series. Used it in my 400 litre tank which was heavily stocked. It works like a box filter but since mine was filled with Pondguru's filter balls, it provided more biological filtration than a normal box filter would. After cleaning it once and seeing how much dirt it actually picked up, I didn't bother putting it back into the tank and opted to lightly vac the tank more regularly. Overall don't waste your money on this filter.
I am considering one of the newer aquarium poop collectors (Year 2024) as supplement to my Eheim 500 pro (full filter cleaning is tiring and hope to prolong it). I also use wavemakers in my aquarium and hope I can prolong filter changes from 2 months to 4 months. I will put my Eheim filter intake higher up off the bed and let the poop collector grab the poop which is more often at the botton of the tanks. Thoughts please? Appreciated.
Thanks for this video! It's super helpful - I have a bare-bottom tank, and lots of little Platy fish babies, so have been looking at this as a way to keep in top of the excess poop so I don't disturb the baby hiding spaces too often. Do you think it's safe to use with little fish? Thanks so much!
drive it with a 250 gallon air pump with both lines hooked together. it's probably designed for smaller tanks and a separate air pump designed for a larger tank. that's what I'd do.
The propeller is actually just a gimmick and is honestly hindering the action. Air uplift systems rely on direct movement, and the propeller does nothing but create turbulent flow. Turbulence kills the flow in a major way.
Ooh that's really interesting to know as I just got sent a filter to review that has a similar feature. I'll do some reading. Anything you would suggest I read to properly understand the hindrance? Thanks so much for sharing! 👍
Hello, I just saw your ad and I came to your channel. I really love what you are doing. I was watching another aquarium video and you are also amazing.
Hiya. I actually pinned a correction comment about this. The main issue was that I didn't connect the top cone correctly to the lid so the water flow was limited as a result. Correctly installed, this thing works really well! 👍
It's an interesting thing, looks a bit big in that tank. Maybe look ok in a 55 gal. but would it handle a bigger tanks waste ? Be ok in your quarantine tank. Interesting. erm, thing ;-)
Hi Bruno. Thanks for watching. Yeah the design causes quite a bit of movement on the bottom of the tank so I think it would work fine in a 55 gal. It didn't have a rating on the listing. Agreed, it looks ridiculous in scapers tank! 😂
Not in my experience. Mostly it's just a cheaper way to purchase the exact same chinese manufactured products at a fraction of the price providing you accept long shipping times. Obviously like any online seller there is some junk, but no more than anywhere else.
Hey. You're doing it wrong. Please attach the cone shape material to the polygonal part of it. Don't cover the hole down there with the cone shape material, the poop won't enter the filter. Try it and you will see the result.
@@AquariumShed Yes, but I observed that it's getting more poop compare to my last set up which is something like your set up. Anyway, I'm just suggesting since I doubted that filter for at least 2 weeks and now I'm enjoying its service to my aquarium. ☺️

Saw the episode and thought it was interesting and I am not as sharp on the memories as I was but I recognized & immediately thought of Richard 🏞

Pain in the butt to clean! I'm going back to using the sponge filter!
Isn’t this just an old fashioned box filter? I used to use one with charcoal packed in it. You can put nearly anything in a box filter

Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! Plenty more content in the pipeline! 👍👍
Hi there will this filter suck up the gravel i have in my tank too?
Hi. No it should be fine. I have fine sand and it didn't suck that up. Tho the suction will be increased by the power of the air pump! 👍
Could it b U need a more powerful air pump, driving de uplift to draw more water/ waste thru??

This filter can suck in small fishes

Interesting, I'll give it a go. Altho the poop does enter the filter with the way I have it set up tbf. Thanks for sharing! 👍

Awesome, I'll definitely give it a go. Just checked out a few listing pictures and can see what you mean. Thanks again! 👍
@@AquariumShed Good luck with that bro. More powers to your channel. ☺️
Cheers. Appreciate the support! 😀
Your demonstration was awesome but the product is poorly designed
