I did the Nutrient Paste Dispenser + Cow thing on one playthrough. Thing is literally OP and I might do it more in the future XD (For those who dont know. You can make a pawn make hundreds of NPD meals in mere seconds with simple yet clever "Zone" positioning.) (Make a zone in the center of a NPD machine, wait for a pawn to be hungry, restrict pawn to that zone. Pawn will go pick a meal from machine since the machine is inside the allowed zone but be physically unable to step inside the zone because the machine is in the way, so upon drafting the pawn, the meal will be dropped on the floor, physcally outside the zone meaning it wont pick it back up but will instead dispense a new meal again when you undraft the pawn. Repeat till you have stacks upon stacks of meals you can store in a freezer for animals to eat.)
@@meltinggoo3272 if you do that, then what prevents the pawn from just going to pick up a normal meal from somewhere else? The whole point of the zone is to make the pawn have no other option than to dispense a meal from the machine.
@@meltinggoo3272 oh I see where you're comming from now. I havent done a cannibal playthrough yet. But dont worry, my megaspider army is is more than happy to munch on the corpses of my fallen enemies :P
I think a video about letting your animals graze (big pastures or even planting grass) vs just doing rice or nutrient paste meals would be interesting from a time, space, or nutrition perspective. It’s something I’ve always been curious about and you explain things really well
A lot of animals on the rim defy the laws of physics like that actually when you consider their meat output vs food input. BTW, if you want to automatically produce nutrient paste, you can use the same room for your ranch as your prison barrack and have your warden deliver nutrient paste from outside. Your farm animals will eat it before your prisoners most of the time.
Small reccomended mod: though I don't remember its name, someone else might, so Imma just describe what it does: it adds a button to the paste dispenser that lets you manually tell it to dispense 1, 5 or 25 paste. No colonist activation needed The other one is needs bar overflow which means you waste no resources whatsoever, so a chicken eating paste doesn't waste all that precious nutrition and just stays full for longer Together, it means you don't need to cook anything, you just press a button and get a lot of efficient nutrition for your animals
Those would make life a lot simpler, but I decided on keeping the challenges intact. Yeah, some stuff in RimWorld is dumb and needs mods to fix it, but I'm ok with small challenges not overfeeding and no nutrient paste on demand. It's part of what makes the workarounds so interesting.
@@chainsawplayin it does that too but that isn't the mod I was thinking of, as it only works on the nutrient paste network, not on the actual dispenser
Absolutely love seeing your field testing videos! I do a lot of math thinking about this stuff but I always feel like I'm missing something since Rimworld is so complex. Keep it coming!
It would be nice 🙂 if we could have more videos about farming (animals) efficiently. Things like how to build a (11x11 probably) room and how to tune it up, and so on. If it does exist, and it's not 2 hours long (please) point me out there. That being said, thanks for your content (subscribed and added notifications) 🤘
I haven't done the video yet, but I have done the research. Cows are the best animal to farm (by a lot), even better than horses. There's also a way to setup automated feeders for them that I plan to cover in the future.
So the wiki says that ibex and horse are better than cows for nutritional value and less work overall since u have to milk the cows vs killing the ibex and horses for meat . Is the wiki outdated or I'm missing something here? Would u mind doing some video explaining the numbers in the future on overall nutritional value of the best food animals in the game?
Ok so the basic gist is that the wiki is speaking hypothetically not mathematically with real numbers in game. Thanks for explaining it to me. I'm looking forward to the more in-depth video with statistics on the screen like the chicken one since I'm obssessed with numbers in this game for some reason lol. Thanks for the explanation
@@VenomSteak I did want to put some numbers into equation but it seems like it won't be enough for obvious reasons :D .I'm looking forward to seeing that in-depth video ur talking about

@@VenomSteak Nope not me. The explanation is actually found on the Wiki too, no idea who came up with it first tho
Or you can just forbid the first dropped meal and draft-undraft colonist a bunch of times instead of messing with zones

@@Komyets the fact that you don't feed them "normal meals", human meat paste is the only option. Made by dispencer from people for people

So thats why cows are sacred in india
Yup
holy mother cow poop very tasty
They cured all The famines
I think I figured out how vanometric power cells work: they run on cows
I think Spiff would be pleased with this

Holy strategy my friend
The voice of an actor and a good one at that.
Best RUclipsr I’ve seen in awhile
I love this style of video, even with 4k+ hours I'm still learning!
Very unique voice you have, also helpful tipps
Yes but I don’t have the patience to click the nutrient paste dispensor.

SO NICE
nice video my friend

No 'or else' :(
very sad :( no "get some cows, or else" :(
Yup this is the absolute broken shit , you can spam those on ice sheet and sea ice to make infinite food
Nooooo way
way
Nice vids :)
This was actually invented in the great Soviet Union! A cow was found to have produced milk with record 30% fat. Turns out they fed her butter.
just like real cows
Nice vídeo but how to put nutrient past in a storage?
Click a zone, and set the storage settings to only allow paste. Set it to a high priority (preferred, important).
it makes no sense but can save you in a pinch
so wait.... does that mean that i could make an underground huge pen..... and like a thousand cows.... and give zero fucks about food forever?
@@keithsvenson568 basicaly yes
@@keithsvenson568 will cows eat the nutrifungus straight off the tile?! :O
You can feed the NPD with human meet, feed the how with the past... than eat the Milk
@@VenomSteak nutrient paste dispenser.
i never saw a cow in rimworld
or in real life btw
Can I turn the milk into nutrient paste and feed it to the cows for infinite food?
Yes :)
This is false information. Everyone must know about the almighty tortoise. RISE UP TURTLE SQUAD
Devour the tortussy immediately
Shredder, is that you?
If you are trapped underground in a single room with a few cows and a NPD you are good to go
if the cows can consume NPD meals, and can produce more nutrition in milk than they consume, cant you make a feedback loop?
Yep, a perfectly balanced loop
How do you paste to stake? I see no option
Paste to stake? I'm not sure what stake you mean.
milk

nah, they supply colonists with protien,,,,,
I personally use them for their enzymes8==D
Hope Tynan doesn't see this
