I'm familar with cat hairs stuck to the lube (hairy switches) and always do a few switches at a time if a cat is around. You wouldn't want to crawl on the floor in search of more than a hundred switch components 😝 I love the sound of this build

If you have a moment I have a question before I embark into the realm of custom keyboards. What I am looking for is a durable keyboard, metal frame, rock solid pcb with zero flex, rgb with shine through caps that is compatible with any type of switch. i also want a 100% with a traditional layout. a bonus would be south facing led's, screw down stabs. i have no need for wireless but i don't object to having it... who knows. Which keyboard would you recommend, i'm leaning towards a Keychron Q6 Pro but I don't want to leap before asking someone who knows way more about keyboards than I do. I realize that I will have to replace the caps if I go this route, which will significantly increase the investment. thanks in advance if you even see this. :)
This video came at the right time. I was just looking at building my first custom keeb. Build idea: GMMK pro, Akko matcha greens, GMK botanical, haven't decided on stabs and cable.
You should probably go for durock v2s for the stabs, and for a cable (if) you have a higher budget cablemod because you can completely customize it, but tezcables for a good budget cable

honestly it depends on how much you use the tilde key or escape key, because no one i know uses function keys and if you’re going full custom it all depends on how many switches you wanna buy (and lube if they’re not already lubed)
I've lubed a whole lot of switches in my days, I've decided to pay the "tax" and out source it. Just got my first set from someone on reddit and it was easily the best decision I've ever made. (To top it off, I think the dude from reddit is better at it than me). 10/10, would buy switches that were lubed by someone else again
Literally not to long ago I had built my first custom keyboard and it took $180 and all day to build it, lubing the switches took all day, they are tecsee carrots and it was WELL worth it, especially compared to my trash blue switch I had before that, also the custom build is only my 2nd mechanical keyboard
literally just started watching your channel and recently just ordered my first mechanical keyboard after using membrane gaming keyboards especially from Razer. Definitely early in the knowledge of keyboards so my first one is shipped prebuilt with the switches I chose. As I'm not comfortable of building a keyboard myself I hope my first mechanical experience goes well so in the future I can get a custom as I found a contact on the site Etsy where they can build a keyboard for you with the mods you want

I was planning on my next build being almost the exact same. I want to get the exact same case (even color) and I was debating between those keycaps or Drop Bip mt3. I just have to decide on the switches. Anyway it was pleasant to see this video in my recommended because it is really nice to see what it would look like!
the part where u think the spring completely compresses is wrong. even if u have a 23mm long spring it never really fully compresses. is just that the part that causes spring pings are just the 2 ends so burger dipping them is sufficient most of the time.
Little fyi, the board shouldnt shock you, modern keyboard operate at most 5v and even thats a bit high as most wireless boards use 3.3v batteries meaning the switches are given a fairly low voltage. I use arduinos and other low voltage digital circuits all the time with bare hands and im more scared of breaking the circuit than i am of it shocking me. Do not apply this assumption to really any other device tho, i was once messing around with an old camcorder view finder, essentially a really tiny version of the old box tvs and found out the hard way that there are parts of the circuits that dont operate at the 9v the battery was providing
This is my first mechanical keyboard with outemu styles blue called lc afte two years i got sick of them because i hatw blues and it was hotswap so i just removed them and jailhoused them and fille the case with tape and cotton i loved it because its my first build thank you because you put me in the custom keyboard hobby
I ended up modding a black shark sixgill v4 sounds amazing with the foam it came with and the tape .didnt have lube so i used beard oil and man does it sound good . sounds better with the ones i lubed with beard oil almost silent might just go ahead and do all of them
yeah i don’t have any money for modding keyboards so maybe i’ll get into it sometime but i do have a solid keyboard it’s a gamakay k61 with ajazz peach switches no lube oh yeah and i was in the stream
